I am Marlen, a darning expert and collector of vintage darning tools. This channel is all about darning and how to prolong the life of your clothes. You can find darning tutorials, product tests of new darning tools, I will introduce you to old and new darning tools and sometimes I post darning videos without explanations - just for the joy of mending.
Easily get rid of pilling on cashmere and wool.
Even if it doesn't sound like it in the video, these wool combs are one of the gentlest tools for your clothes.
This one has two sides, the black one is suitable for chunkier and the metal side for finer knitwear.

This is so impressivs
Thank you so much.
Thank you!!! I’ve been trying to find videos on how to harvest wool for mending a sweater for ages!!!
I’m glad to hear it is helpful. Happy mending! ☺️🌸
I'd never thought to use a tailor's ham to support a repair like that! Thank you for the tip!
My pleasure! Happy mending
Incredible!
Thank you! ☺️🌸
Love the colors choice 😉👍
Hallo Marlen, great work! Greetings from Italy 💚 🤍 ❤😊
Just found your YT channel 😊 … question: do you use the thread as is? Because with unraveled knitting yarn, for example, the recommendation is to wash it to straighten it.. what is your experience? Thx in advance!
Hi, happy to hear you found my channel. ☺️ It depends on the project. Sometime I steam it before using it for the next project.
@@milli_and_the_bee Thank you, Milli 😀
A very delicate hand❤
Thank you. ☺️🌸
Hello! Could I know what kind of tool are you using? It seems a crochet hook with a needle eye 🤔 isn't it?
It’s a ball tip needle. 🪡
@@milli_and_the_bee thank you ✨
That's an amazing idea to hide the tails inside the fabric layers thank you 👍❤️
My pleasure. Happy sewing!
Wow
Brilliant!
Very nice. I often find the seam yarn not identical (different fiber content), but it’s better than anything you can buy.
Great information. Thanks! 😊 You need really good lighting to see that dark thread.
Thank you thank you! This is the video I’ve been waiting for for years!! I see you are harvesting the yarn used to sew the side together, not unraveling the sweater! I can’t wait to try this on a mend I have been sitting on for a looooong time because I could not find suitable matching yarn.
I’ve watched this video three times already because I’m loving the sound of those quality scissors cutting the sock
I dind't knwo how to harvest the yarn for invisible mending. Thank you so much for showing! :)
Your skill, the silence, the speed at which you demonstrate, combine to create a mezermising display of skill in both daring AND teaching. Just brilliant!!
Oh, wow! That fix is really fantastic. It's good as new.
Thank you so much. I am happy to hear you like it.
That's a great idea. 👍 But does it really work or is the thread to distressed? When thread is too old, it's not good for sewing and tears easily.
That’s a good question! I only use the part between heel an cuff, this part has less wear and is in a very good condition.
I love that you're on RUclips, Marlen! This is a valuable resource and I've shared it with Modern Mending Club.
Thank you so much for your support Erin. I think RUclips is the right next step to share more about mending since it’s not so limited like Instagram is. ☺️
Milli, thank you, thank you! I’ve been trying to figure out how to “ harvest” yarn from a sweater. I was afraid to undo a seam. You showed me it is doable♥️
Wow! I have been doing visible mending for a while, now watching you do invisible mending, it is a whole different level of skill required! 🤯
Impressive thx you!
You’re welcome.
🙌
That Box! 😍😍😍
It’s like a treasure chest, isn’t it? ☺️
So amazing!!! And I love the quiet 🤫 - no annoying music or chatter ❤
Amazing! I can't wait to give this a try - thank you so much!
This is such a useful video - thank you!
So impressed! I don't quite understand how you know where to cut into the side seam, is it the seam or on fabric to harvest, and how you prevent the whole thing from unraveling once you made a cut?
You are absolutely amazing , Thank you so much for those Videos , thats so rare those days to fine 🥰
So amazing!
Absolutely brilliant! I love all of your posts, but this is my very favorite. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skills 🤗
Wow! So impressive 👌
Thank you so much for sharing.
I wish I had seen this video years ago. I tried to mend a small hole in my son's cashmere sweater - the look of disappointment at the very visible mend was enough to make me feel miserable at the time.
I am sorry to hear that. But mending, especially invisible mending is a progress, it gets better by practice. So don’t give up. ☺️ Happy mending.
Beautiful as always. Thanks for posting this.
Thank you so much for your kind words and you support. ☺️🌸
Thank you!
You’re welcome, I hope it’s helpful. ☺️
Amazing!
Thank you so much! ☺️
