Less complex arrangement, hopefully still enjoyable. The keen eye may notice some sync issues with the note visualization. This was due to a bug in the visualization software that has now been fixed. I instantly saw Secret of Mana when I heard the beginning, very nice improv! Can you explain the music theory why this sounds like JRPG? The steaming keys look sick :D I just sent you a message on discord, do you still use that?
well, actually it didn't turn out as much JRPG as it could. i think for this one it's mostly the use of the VImaj7 chord (e.g. Fmaj7 in the key of Am) and also using adding the 4th and the 7th note to the minor tonic, but avoiding the 2nd. So in the key of Am it would be adding D and G to the Am tonic chord, but avoiding B, at least in the melodies and arpeggios. But there are many other ways to make it more JRPG, generally it involves a lot of sus-coloring (such as adding the 4th to the tonic minor).
I came here for your comment on the OST video, and I'm not disappointed. Great interpretation. 😊
