It would seem to me the obvious safety feature would be to downtune the motor automatically as it approaches max temp but keep brakes. Maybe 120-130 motor goes from 100% to 0% and brake doesn't cut out until 135.

Used to live off Taishun over by Shida, would have vastly preferred something like this to the old scooter. I'll admit though, Taiwanese traffic definitely knows how to handle having bikes/scooters/motorcycles on the road a lot better than many places I've lived.

I'm really glad you had Steve over so I could find out you now had your own channel. I've always loved seeing your interviews and stuff so I'm really happy to watch more personal content from you. I wish you the best of luck with your channel and with PNY and I'll look forward to what's coming!

You are absolutely right about how these claw machines work. There are many different ways you can grab and manipulate the prize to INCREASE your chances of winning. If the operator doesn't want you to win, you will never win. Thanks for showing and explaining this in a tech fashion.

A chase is a race! Dude with 30kg batteries need no weights in the gym :) I regret a bit not filming any of my bike rides or commute in Taipei traffic. It's not as crazy as some other places in Asia, but compared to US it's night and day :)

Looking forward to being able to build a rear engined electric open wheel daily. Other people are just a bit to oblivious to enjoy ebikes in NC.

Mr. Kingpin please come out with black and gold electric motorcycles with classic styling (a la Maeving) but with an emphasis on reparability, tunability, customizability, and open source. I would love to charge at the ideal rate for MY use case, only charge to the level that I need (like 50% + 1/2 the power it takes to drive to work and back), adjust the throttle sensitivity to my liking, adjust the power limits based on component temperatures, etc etc.

For overheating motor you guys should check Thermal Putty. Up until a couple years ago Eco-Cycle was offering a "Thermal Putty Kit for TSDZ2". When TG-PP10 got discontinued they looked for alternatives but ended up making their own in house cooling solution. But you can still use Thermal Putty to help transfer heat out and cool the motor, and we have MUCH higher performing Thermal Putties available now than we did back then.

I highly suggest putting ferrofluid inside hub motors. It fills the gaps within the magnets and creates a direct contact with the outside bell for better heat transfer. You can seriously drop temps by about 12-20C. It allows safer usage of 48v motors running at 72v

Have you guys looked at Grin Technology direct drive hub motors? They have the option to inject the motors with statorade which improves the thermal capacity dramatically. I have a friend who works there and I'll have one soon.

Wish they were legal here, its something dumb like 20km/h or lower where i live as well.

1km is a little less than 11 football fields where as a mile is a little less than 18 football fields

Think you'll ever do a Talaria build? I've seen Sur-ron owners move on to that bike due to more headroom with having gear oil.

KP! I think you should check out "Spark Cycleworks". They're here on youtube. Made in the USA e-bikes (including frames!) using all open source controllers and industry standard parts (and motorcycle parts where they can). Also you might want to check out "Powerful Lithium". They build some really trick, batteries and controllers. Legal wise. In the USA E-Bikes are basically a cop magnet. I hate cops so I've basically ditched my class 3 ebike and got my motorcycle endorsement. I upgraded to a Vespa for about 2k miles (invisible to cops). Then I upgraded that to a BMW G310GS adventure bike. Gets about 65 MPG here at 6000 ft in Albuquerque. In the US, ebikes cannot go on BLM land trails (Bureau of land management or federal land). In some states, ebikes don't really need much legally. Some states say stay off the sidewalk. In other states it's even bike trails. In California they are in the process of rolling out an ebike license you need to get and I believe that law also says you can't ride an ebike at all under 12 years old. But seriously though, check out Spark Cycleworks. Those guys have a full on maker/hacker mentality for how they build their bikes and I think you'll totally groove with their vibe.

As workshops go this is by far the most stylish, comfortable, cool and well tooled (great housekeeping) workshop I have ever seen. It's a slice of heaven. I'd happily live there and know that no matter when I reached for a No.10 socket or spanner it'd be exactly where I left it each and every single time ...mostly.
