I still can't believe how people compare Michelle to Irina. Just cause you complete jumps doesn't make it a good jump. Irina was always sloppy but fast and high and her artistry could never touch Michelle's. Always felt like the Euro/Russian Judges were just looking to place anyone but an American on the top of the podium. It should not have been that close.

She had 2 of the most spectacular programs - “Lyra Angelica” was also exquisite

I'm sorry but this should've been no higher than 3rd. Both Sasha and Irina had better short programs. I love Michelle but that triple flip was under rotated.

How does a triple-toe beat out a triple-flip? Never understood how Michelle won the short here. At least the judges got it right in the long.

This is so exquisite. Look at the detail and the changes in footwork and arm movements. Far superior than the Eteri quad queens. This is art.

Michelle's artistry is the most difficult technique which Tara Lipinski never touched the level. Tara skated safe because she never tried to be an artist on ice like Michelle Kwan.

Michelle got into the World Figure skating Hall of Fame, which means she is one of the greatest skaters in the history and more than a Olympics winner. However, Michelle shouldn't fire her coach Frank Carroll......it's a big mistake. Some people thought that's her father's idea.

This music is so difficult to make a beautiful performance, Michelle did it. Amazing footwork..

Even at the end of her career, she delived one of her best short programs. And her balance and skating skills looked better than ever.

What's interesting about Michelle's triple-triple here is the first jump didn't have much height. At 0:45 - (4:44) it wasn't a huge lift off the ice and usually means that a skater would come down too hard on the first jump and wouldn't be able to vault into another triple. However, she was able to get in that second triple . . . amazing and well done!!!

Loved this spiral and the emotional crescendo that came with it. Too bad they started throwing those stupid requirements that completely ruined the impact this inside-outside, fully developed spiral had for the audience..

That ridiculous and shameful 5.9 for merit from the Slovakian judge cost Slutskaya the gold medal as it is what Michelle won the short with (this judge gave Slutskaya 5.8, 5.9 and Michele 5.9, 5.9). Slutskaya was 2nd in the long and wins the gold over Hughes if she won the short.

Ugh the way the spiral hits the music you get chills

They commented about the judges nit picking because the top 4 had similar programs. Michele's spiral sequence did not complete a full circle, the program was boring with very little interesting moves, yet they deducted that and more from Sarah's program. I am so glad that Sarah showed them all up. Sasha or Irina should've won the Silver medal.
