@@pav1u hes not naive, hes correct. automakers have to adhere to strict exhaust regulations, they cant continue making naturally aspirated V8s. its just not possible by law. i like old engines in terms of sound, feel and running costs. but you gotta be realistic here; theres a good reason that automakers spend billions on developing new engines. they are, bluntly said, better. and thats coming from someone who drives and loves old cars. also, automakers "selling gas for higher prices and selling crap cars at low cost" doesnt make any sense. they dont sell gas themselves and cars are cheap because they are produced in large volumes. costly engine development makes the individual car more expensive, not cheaper. the engines dont get worse. but most car enthusiasts ive talked to prefer to keep on their rose-tinted nostalgia glasses, so of course the good ol bimmer V8 is the pinnacle of engineering... modern cars might be boring, i agree, but they are extremely well thought out and well functioning products.

You need to do some research. E32 730i was first straight 6 with the M30B30. Later it was replaced with the V8 named M60B30. Then for the E38 generation the pre-facelift 730i used the very same engine, the M60B30, before it was replaced with 735i which is a 3.5L V8.

Yes? What's the issue? It has the M60B30, which was also used in E32 730i and E34 530i when the 3L i6 M30B30 was phased out. Later the 730i E38 was replaced by the 735i E38 with 3.5L V8.
