bump for algo
It would be nice to see some form of , possibly bordered, UNLIMITED edition. However, I think Sorcery should release at least 3 more sets and see how sales are before doing so.
That's a solid idea! A discernable edition with either a border or alternate set symbol could be a good solution. Agree that a lot more will be learned about the market after several more sets are absorbed by the current and emerging player base. Excited to see what's next! :)

Cheers! Interesting comment :)
Shout out to The Ruby Core-ier for sharing the playmat in this video, which features the Year Of The Blaze artwork by Ossi Hiekkala. Congrats on the piece Scott!!! Super cool and thanks for the background story!!

Can you post a video ranking each copy of Grievous Insult you own?
HAHA! I would, but one is just as insulting as the next. :)
Stunning! Really cool!
Thanks so much! Need to have you submit a few pieces for consideration in Sorcery too. That farm painting would make a great Earth Site! :)
Love her work! Great painting! Cheers
Thanks! Glad you like the painting, she did an incredible job with it! :)
Hard to appreciate the painting through video but it looks great from here! Congrats Scott and good on you for trusting in the artist. Too many people expect artists to be mind readers and merely tools to draw an image from the commissioner's mind.
Thanks so much! It really is something to see in person, but in this crazy world full of digital & AI shenanigans I wasn't comfortable posting a high resolution image of it... so decided to do a video. :)
fuck no. Anyone in the states who needs an ordinary or exceptional playset hit me up.
That's a generous offer! :) If anyone comments here, I'll send you a msg on the Discord. Could likely fulfill those needs myself, have a good bit of spare Ordinary & Exceptional cards myself. Cheers!
Don’t ever go public. Once you go public you go wokeshit
There are many reasons I hope that EC remains a private company indefinitely. As a small private company, they maintain maximum control over almost all aspects of their product and brand. I think this is the best way for them to make sure the founders' vision reaches the customer uninfluenced by outside influence or control. Except for input from the game's community and customers, of course. :)
@@TheContestedReality hope so too. Never go public
Feels strange discussing whether to reprint when most of the world haven't even seen any product. If there is a reprint then maybe I get to open my first booster pack
@@Austin-sv9nm world-wide with low shipping cost?
I agree. Decided to make this video because the discussion of this topic is almost constant around the web. The purpose was to outline some of the business considerations that surround the reprint decision... but it applies to most other products as well. Glad to see all of the good comments here, and I do hope that you get to open your first booster pack soon! :)
They need to do two things simultaneously: have product available for new players readily available so they don't lose players just because they couldn't get ahold of cards to play with while controlling print runs and the collectible market. The only way to do that is to create a new product of staples and to end the Beta printing (it would help to remove certain cards from that printing). The sooner they do that the healthier the game will be in the long run. The catch-22 thing is that making the cards more desirable and collectible will spurn interest in the game and increase the player base, but only if there is product for them to play with. The less collectible the cards are the less people will be interested in picking it up.
Yes, very tricky to strike the right balance between player (new and existing) needs and attracting & holding collectors' interest.
I'd like to see Beta reprinted enough to keep incoming new players from Arthurian Legends satisfied and not struggling to build a NF set. EC also should be mindful to not overprint, especially if something akin to a Revised Edition is in their sights.
Agreed! This sounds like a well balanced approach to the challenge.
Are those mouse mats with stone prints? If so, where would I buy them! :)
They are available at Melissa Benson's website. :)
No. They should make a core set. They could add some new cards in the core set that is not in the Alpha or Beta so that we collectors will buy the core set.
Solid idea!
I really enjoyed the video. I think there are a lot of important pros/cons, that need to be considered. Beta was printed with the first printing that released fall/winter 2023 where certain areas did not get enough product. Probably due to a mix of distros under ordering, and the team underestimating the demand. The second print (Summer Beta/Wave 2) came to Asia around April 2024, and just got restocked in the US, and here in Europe it should arrive November 2024. After this, I think they need to like the dust settle and observe the situation. My personal preference would be no more Beta, but a Revised edition product reprinting vital cards with new art in a few years. However, I think they should reprint Beta precons for site availability and having a good option for new players getting into the I really enjoyed the video. Definitely seems like Europe is ready to get some product there!
Revised with other Art or wothout Foils!

Hey I enjoyed your video and subbed! Just started a new channel and getting ready to get into Arthurian Legends. Can't wait to open some boxes and start collecting some beta now that there's been some reprints. Looking forward to learning more. Thanks for the video!
Thanks! You have a new subscriber. 😀
i think they don’t need to because they can make a revised edition down the line
That's seems to be a common idea, and a good one. Follows the trajectory that early TCGs did.
Where did you get the 2 prints on your wall?
Thanks for asking! Those are two of the posters that were included with the Beta Store Kits. I picked them up second hand on ebay, and put them into some basic frames from Michaels. :)
To start off, i think the idea of beta precons always being available, until another precon or 2 comes along and replaces them, is an awesome idea. As far as beta boxes, I think, between the entire first beta wave, the second beta wave and now the summer wave, they have overprinted for the current playerbase, by a lot. The collector / investor base has bought up a lot of that excess and has sort of left us with an... even... market (not ignoring the reason they have printed this much in the first place is because this investor base has been buying up x amount of product at every stage). That base is going to be slowly selling off the product they have, some waiting shorter or longer to do so, some are selling right now. The success of this game, in my opinion is going to be dependent on AL and their future sets and the store presence of them. Now, most of what ill be saying is not directed at you, but more so the sentiment i see very frequently. They just did a reprint so beta could be available in stores for AL. If people see AL or other future sets and start playing the game, they will search out earlier sets for the game, and they'll find them all over 3rd party markets. I don't understand this obsession the community has with talking about reprints every chance we get. EC is actively distributing a reprint they just did, boxes are currently at MSRP and 95% of the cards in beta are already DIRT CHEAP online, and i still see people in discord / reddit saying we need reprints. In all honesty, it's insane. There is no future point in time, where a reprint would be a reasonable thing to suggest that doesn't already have multiple new sets for sorcery, that will be printed more than alpha and beta ever were, and will be more present in stores for a longer period of time. You do not need to have every old set in your lgs. Card game players know where to buy product and cards that are multiple years old, because their LGS does not stock them. The amount of constant reprint talk makes it seem like people think Beta boxes should be treated like some permanent, always available, always at msrp, in store staple. What TCG / CCG does that? The wind blows and we need a reprint it feels like. Rant over lol
What an excellent and thorough comment! I honestly wasn't sure if this video would attract much interaction, because it is very "business" oriented and I avoid all of the shock & rant bait type stuff. The reason I made this video was to take a non-hype approach to explaining why deciding what, when, how, and where to reprint and release product is such a strategically delicate decision. Really glad to see that your comment cosigns a lot of what I've been thinking here. I am quite amazed by how much the re-print topic comes up too, particularly because the is such a new product & brand. I believe it is one of the side effects of transitioning from a very successful Kickstarter campaign to a a more traditional production and retail operation. Kickstarter brought in a lot of great people with very different agendas, which unfortunately includes investor and speculator types that prioritize monetary value over gameplay, collectability, and other sentiments. I think some folks fail to realize that without players, a game product cannot be sustained, and value will peak and then erode.
@@TheContestedReality Thanks for the reply. I definitely think you went about it the right way doing the video how you did. Taking a more even handed, informing approach. Telling people what to consider and not what to think or what to be mad about. People are very opinionated when it comes to hobbies / collectables (as my comment shows as well lol). Some want the price to skyrocket as high as possible not caring about the effect to the health of the player base, blocking out that those 2 things are directly tied to each other. Some feel entitled to be able to easily own each and every aspect of a product and don't realize what that would mean for the inherent value product (and all the downstream effects of eroding that). Sorcery needs players and eyes on it more than anything else, and right now, having beta available in conjunction with the AL release will help that a little. I was really confused when TC launched the new summer beta supply, basically 2 weeks prior to the AL launch.... wouldn't we want as many of those boxes as possible to go to new players, who see AL in their store or online somewhere? The collector investor types will be buying it no matter what, but i feel it also will attract experienced players just antsy for more sorcery and AL, so they just pull the trigger on some beta. Idk if much thought wasn't put into it, could also just be some reasoning i haven't thought of. They said the supply was very limited, so i hope it doesn't sell out before AL even launches. One last thing i think would increase the potential stage time sorcery has, is a slightly more aggressive release schedule. Maybe a set every 8 months, instead of 12. or 1 set and 1 small thing (like the ed beard jr dragon collection they are doing). A new thing being released always brings more eyes and attention to the brand, because it gives people something to talk about, post about, theorize about. It gives people more chances to hear about it, see it, and therefore, higher chances of one looking more into it or trying it out. People in the community for the most part, respond negatively to this, and i think that response is a little misguided. Idk if we've seen any modern TCGs do just 1 set a year, but i think this lack of spotlight is one of the downsides to this model.
I'm pretty much in agreement. It's a fine line between printing enough to satisfy demand and not printing too much but I think Erik is walking that line well. Pure speculation here but I think, after AL releases, there will be some sort of "Revised" version of a base set with a much larger print run. Maybe with a few cards added/removed for better game balance...and I think that core set is what will stay in print. A model much like Magic did in the early days. I think that would satisfy everyone.
Great comment, and thanks for watching the video. I was only involved with MTG from Revised through Ice Age or so, but I do remember 4th Edition coming out, and at least among all the people I played and collected with, it was a welcome printing. There are just so many great cards in SCR Alpha/Beta, it would be a shame to have them become obsolete so soon when the game is still at its infancy. In agreement with you, I feel Erik's Curiosa is handling things quite well now, and they clearly are keeping a very close eye on all of the stakeholders involved with Sorcery. Excited about the future of all this! :)
Hey, great idea. I loved (and still have) all my old MTG mags from back in the day. Loved the articles, the card- combo sections, interviews, and coverage of events. In the beginning you could do a SASE style of distribution where people mail in a “Self Addressed Stamped Envelope” (or a few of them) and they get stuffed and mailed for each issue.
Sorry for the slow reply my comments keep getting deleted.

What’s the true master set of the alpha? Non foil + foil + curio? = true master set?
You can definitely see the difference. Some cards do look better in the initial beta printing. Sorcery is just really cool.
Yes! I can't get enough of Sorcery lately.... such a fun game! :)
Great information. I agree with you that while most summer look better, it really depends on the card. I just completed my beta playset and I'm happy with it. Getting "better" versions might annoy me or get me to chase another set when I don't need it
Congratulations on completing your beta playset! And yes, I agree, chasing another set of the same cards, especially when AL is releasing in a few months is not something I consider a must either, but it has been fun collecting them so far.
@@TheContestedReality Thanks. You're right! Being a collector, the chase is a lot of fun. I don't have the funds to collect both Summer and AL so I'm going to focus on AL. Can't wait for that!
Awesome video working on picking up a Brian Smith death dealer in summer beta.
Thank you! The reds on the Brian Smith DD in the Summer print do pop a bit more than the first print, but the difference is isn't quite as significant as some of the other cards IMO. I have an extra one I'd be down to trade. :)
Great video! Enjoyed the content, and LOVED the remix on the Sorcery theme music! Would be cool to hear a mix with some heavy bass beats😎
Thanks so much! Was fun making the remix... which I made using Madtracker, a program I've been using for production since 1999. Probably going to do a Jungle remix of it at some point for this channel. :)
So when its gonna be this release? Is there any date or aproximate date like summer?
Thanks for asking! This print run was actually already released in Asia a month or two ago, and quite a bit of the product was purchased by resellers and shipped to buyers or trading stores back here in the US. Regarding future printings of this, it was revealed that EC was planning to do a limited reprint geared toward local game stores in the states, to be released close to the release of Arthurian Legends.. but not much more detail has been made available yet.
Is that cloud city on the wall an original painting???? If so tell us the story of how you got it.
Thx for asking! 😀 It is actually an official limited edition print that I purchased from Elwira's store.
Love seeing any kind of comparison with this new printing of beta! Picked up a few of the avatars and some pudge butchers from this release. I might need to get a box to just open

You’re so lucky you got the covenant subscription. I hope more open up when Arthurian Legends comes out
Glad I did as well! I'm fairly certain they will open up more subscriptions as AL gets closer... but if not, it looks like the product will be available from all Sorcery retailers. Can't wait to dive into that set! :)
