I've built cars and hotrods since i was 16 and never understood what would posses someone to want to be a mechanic.

Got into trade school to be a mechanic at 18. Since graduating I’ve been an ase certified master tech, a hotel building maintenance guy, an HVAC repairman, an appliance repair man and a crane mechanic. Wanna guess which one paid the least?

My Alt has died on every car i've owned within 3 months of buying it, always fix it myself so it's no big deal.. Just annoying and never well timed

Yep! I was in this for 10 years. There’s no money in this field. I was making $24k a year. Started truck driving over the road, suck but had to get the experience. Make $40k. Went to driving local driving ready mix concrete. Been at the same place for 15 years I make $90k a year. Everything is paid off. I’ll never go back to auto mechanics agin.
