I couldn't find a proper quality version of this song, so I decided to upload one. Enjoy! (Original song by Simon & Garfunkel - 1968) © Ben Howard
❤❤❤
PALS...
A great song to cover, thanks Ben!
Anybody knows how to play this version?! Some tabs please?!
Ben has done a great job of this song
Peace. Love. And All the beautiful Little things ✌️❤️😊🌱
Ben, sorry mate your indie girl voice does not do this song justice.
Ur opinion I like this better
One of my favourite songs performed by one of my favourite musicians... Awesome!
Simply Impressive, without words the magic made music.
Ben, you do it every time. Thanks and love from Cape Breton xx💗
S👀S😶
I totally would cover this but the concept of whores is a misnomer most are exploited vulnerable youths still might cover it but change the lyrics
Outstanding.
The best version of this song is the original Simon and Garfunkel.
how is it even possible to prefer any other version than this
I am just a poor boy Though my story's seldom told I have squandered my resistance For a pocket full of mumbles Such are promises All lies and jests Still a man hears what he wants to hear And disregards the rest When I left my home and my family I was no more than a boy In the company of strangers In the quiet of the railway station Running scared Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters Where the ragged people go Looking for the places Only they would know Lie la lie, lie la la la lie la lie, lie la lie Lie la la la lie la lie, la la la la lie Asking only workman's wages I come looking for a job But I get no offers Just a come-on from the whores On Seventh Avenue I do declare There were times when I was so lonesome I took some comfort there La la la la la la la Lie la lie, lie la la la lie la lie, lie la lie Lie la la la lie la lie, la la la la lie Then I'm laying out my winter clothes And wishing I was gone Going home Where the New York City winters Aren't bleeding me Leading me Going home In the clearing stands a boxer And a fighter by his trade And he carries the reminders Of every glove that laid him down Or cut him 'til he cried out In his anger and his shame "I am leaving, I am leaving" But the fighter still remains
Yellow led better.... But not better than you... Never the bag. 😉☺️🤗💐⌛🤟
I think this takes the original.... spectacular 👌
Let’s be fair.. the original is shite
Ong bro
..but it doesn't need to be better or anything, it's just different, beautiful and refreshing.. thank you Ben
this is a blessing
Thank you!
So beautiful, India's voice is wonderful here!
this was released in 2014? whaaat
how could i walk so blind through the wold
You can't beat the original and I don't think this version has enough passion behind it but I don't think I could ever dislike one of Ben's songs. He just makes everything so soft and lilting and rough.
man...ben...why you always get me
bad try, he never gets close --- he stands for his own
Mumford's sons version of this sooo crap, this version is pretty good but the o.g. is amazing
Nah this better
He kinda mumbles his way through.
that's just Benny
Bee listen to his other stuff, the mumbling is apart of his style.
his best and most underrated cover
Have you heard his Hideaway cover from Kiesza?
Ok unpopular opinion here but in my opinion the versions of The Boxer rank like this: 1. Mumford and Sons 2. Ben Howard (would be first but I don't like the harmonization in the chorus) 3. Simon and Garfunkel I'm so sorry. Please don't hurt me.
+Becky Tiding Everyone has their opinion, hope no one bashes you lol
How dare you have an opinion?!
+Eli Luckily, Ben Howard's fanbase contains some of the nicest people out there
I completely agree, I really want to see him live again. Think everyone who likes Ben Howard has the same mind set :)
If you don't put Simon & Garfunkel at the top of that list you're CRAZY.
I think this is just beautiful... :)
The chello is amazing!! As well as the whole cover...
It's okay I guess, and I'm all for other artists adding their own style or input to a song. I just can help feeling this version is woefully worse than the original and that this version ruins the whole spirit of the song.
Don't know what some of you are on about, I think he did a great job. Prefer the original but this is really nice.
Don't like it at all. I think he ruined a great song.
I don't get how covers ruin the original...
TheGuitarded1 This is better than the original tho
@@chaboi4226 ong bro
You must love Ben Howard. But no body she attempt to emulate Simon and garfunkel
This version is good but i have to say Mumford and Sons version is just unreal.
Liam Schofield Nice! Passenger's is great too!!! Cheers
+Liam Schofield Exactly! Mumford and Sons one is the best cover so far. no doubts this one is good too.
I love mumford's version but I think this is like a completely different song, so I like them both for different reasons.
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful song, beautiful cover. I love Ben Howard's music. Such a talented soul.
CGCGGC Capos on the 11th covering everything but the 6th string. put your fingers on the low E string everything is open. picking sounds like 62436251 should be the same as video games cover of his. Thanks guys
That would be more correctly: CGCGGC Capos on the 11th covering everything but the 6th string. Put your fingers on the low E string in thus frets(in turn): 11, 10, 8, 6 and repeat. Everything under capo is open. for each picking fret you play: 63436351. going to another fret before you playing last string(1) and you ll get clear similar to what Ben plays.
Original was a classic. Cover is refreshing. Thanks Ben.
There are certain songs that just shouldn't be covered, not saying this is bad but..
Mumford and Sons - The Boxer. Counter.
If ben can successfully cover Call me maybe.. then he can cover whatever he likes
the boxer is actually originally by simon and garfunkle. one of the bands ben grew up on
+Jack Hallows actually, i can imagine Laura Marling just handling it quite well
This is 10x better than the original, if I'm being honest.
Nothing will ever beat the original but this is pretty close, brilliant cover
I actually prefer the version of Mumford and Sons over the original, you should check it out :)
+SarBarBer no snare drum. No me likey
magic
Love Ben Howard!!!
Hero
Nice Cover :)
thank you soooo much i love ben howard and need new music from him!
Isn't this a cover? I can't wait for his new album! Nothing better than a benny how song! Love him!
A Simon & Garfunkel original maybe?
Luke Davies Yep Simon and Garfunkel cover, brilliant cover better the the original I rackon
amazing, thanks for uploading. all the other uploads of this sucked.
