I enjoy this method quite a bit (Cozy Quilt / Daniella Stout) has a lot of patterns that play off this technique to create more complex HST's too. The only observation though is that you do end up with biased edges on your HST (vs not in the more traditional method).

Yep, it's been around for years but I've never understood why it's not more popular. You are absolutely right about the bias edges, but I'll happily take them over trimming any day. I've also found with the quality a lot of the fabric companies are putting out these days, bias edges are less and less an issue.

Eep! Have to share a few insights. While you can go this route, there are issues. Critical ones. If you have a Members Only area set up, you can simply change the page permissions by selecting members only. As far as the page slug goes, numerical values are always considered spam if they are complex. Keeping these short and clean is really important for a lot of reasons. Duplicating a page is fine and of course very handy. That said, selecting no index on that dup page is a nightmare for analytics. Changing the url isnt enough. The page elements that have been copied have or should have their own inbound and outbound links and then some. By selecting no index without ensuring that embedded urls and element metadata etc in that copied page is corrected, you have a very high probability of creating multiple 404 fetches. That's bad. 👎 You also want to be able to run page analysis on private or members only pages. Really important as well. Speaking of which, there are legalities to always consider. Because members have provided more than their IP information, it is extremely important to have private pages that are accessible only through membership, to jive with current security measures and the like. Simple steps like this, are the best way to ensure that your brand, your customers, and your sanity are kept healthy. Cheers from BC Canada 🇨🇦

I was able to print the pattern at Staples. You can't set it up online and have to go in to have them set up the file within their system. It is the Blueprint printing.
