Living in Kyoto - Cost Breakdown | 京都での生活費
In-depth breakdown of how much I spent on everything as an exchange student for two semesters at Kyoto University.
It's a bit long, so in case you only want to hear about the costs of certain things:
Accommodation - 1:43
Food - 3:36
Transportation - 5:50
Leisure - 9:58
Miscellaneous necessities - 12:03
Here is the awesome site for searching up transportation routes in Japan: www.hyperdia.com/
Sorry if I've missed something you wanted to find out about, this video would become ridiculously long if I included any more details. But I'm always happy to answer any questions if you comment below! ^_^

Kayaking to an island on Lake Wanaka | ワナカ湖でカヤック
Просмотров 5188 лет назад
Wanaka is a small town on the edge of a lake in the South Island of New Zealand. This morning, the weather was glorious and we hired kayaks for two hours and ended up paddling to Ruby Island, which is in the middle of Lake Wanaka. Pros: amazingly beautiful scenery, feels like you're living the life Con: hideous sunburn (I applied sunscreen while still in sneakers and forgot about it when I chan...

Just across the square from the Kaiyukan Aquarium is this mid-sized petting zoo. The first time I took a look around here the animals (back then they only had the usual cats, dogs, rabbits etc. the alpaca) were in an atrocious condition and I definitely would not have condoned supporting this place... However having said that, sometime during the first half of 2014 they seem to have done a comp...

Great collection of aquatic life! Best aquarium I have been to so far. Really love the design of the building which enables a huge tank to be placed in the centre for the whale shark. The Gion Festival is one of the three largest festivals in Kyoto (along with the Aoi Festival and the Jidai Festival) and it is held annually in July. At night, the crowds congregate around Shijo Street and Yasaka Shrine, many in yukata. From there, they proceed towards the many stalls selling food, beverages, and assorted trinkets. Street performers offer entertainment throughout the evening. ...

We saw a dolphin in the ocean and a guy performing acrobatics on a long elastic rope! The day was sweltering hot and I wish I had taken along jandals because the sand burnt my bare feet, but I was excited because it was my first time at a Japanese beach. Aaand it was a pretty awesome beach, packed with mid-summer revelers. One thing that did surprise and sadden me however was the amount of rubb...

I visited this park back in 2014 before management shifted to Kobe Animal Kingdom during the middle of year, although it is essentially the same park. We went to the "Lucky Owl" cafe in Dotonbori, Osaka. While there were signs stating that touching was off limits in front of some owls, it was possible to pat many of them gently on the beak. Hi, Hiro and Heirii!! I got into Kyodai recently and will be making my move to Japan in a few months. Haven't received any word yet on the student housing options though. What's the housing assignment process like? Do you have to apply to many different dorms or is there like just one consolidated platform and the university assigns you a spot? Is competition to get into Yoshida International House tough? I'm just worried I'll be competing against so many other students who want to get in. 😅

It seems that the campus is quite big?? so I am not sure if I want to get around the campus by feet. P.S. I couldn't really ride bike( I could ride it but not so stable cuz I am pretty short), would that be a major issue?

Hi im a prospective student at kyoto uni for this upcoming academic year. Unfortunately I wasn’t selected for the dormitory lottery and ended up paying twice the price you were paying to rent an apartment/room not too far from the University. I also had to pay additional fee and utilities fees. Can you tell me if there s any cheaper places around yoshida campus that dont necessarily require a guarantor? They all seem to be looking foward getting rich at the foreigners expense; asking either to pay for guarantor, key money, deposit, agency fee, water , gas and electricity fees and also fire insurance fee😫😫 . Looking online can be a bit tiresome and time consuming😫😫 Can you please help or give advice!

Hello, thanks for your question! Unfortunately I have not heard of any places around Yoshida which do not require a guarantor... as far as I am aware it is pretty standard for everyone to have to pay a lot of money including key money and deposit etc. whenever they move places, even for Japanese people. If you don't mind living with other people a bit further out then perhaps you can try a sharehouse though? I think there are less up-front fees associated with those. Good luck!

I would really like to apply for that scholarship with the same course I am taking up right now but i don't wanna repeat from 1st yr.. I Just wanna continue my study in japan. Will i still be granted in that scholarship? And will my previous units from my old scholl will be credited? or I should really repeat my college from the start?
