There's another video floating somewhere of that includes the story of a father pulling out into the path of an articulated truck and getting completely wedged under the trailer after being hit at about 50mph. Him and his young daughter survived and were virtually uninjured after being helped out of their 9-3 sedan. I have one of these, too. The cars are pains to maintain to a showroom standard but absolutely solid on the road. My 9-3 is my first and so far only car I've had, not looking to change it any time soon.

I just bought my first ever Saab! I wanted one since the 9000 turbo (some 25+ years ago) that my friend used to own, I can't believe I now own one... Mine is a 2003 9-3 Arc with the 6 speed manual transmission.
This video shows really well why SAAB went bankrupt. You can’t put this much money on R&D on a single model and still remain competitive on the market.
Saab went far further than what GM wanted them to quickly modify on the Opel Vectra bases they were giving them, but considering Opel were not much profitable, GM was I think use to loose money with its european branches 😅

I’m crying. This was an anomaly of a car company. It is VERY rare for a car company to invest in people’s safety on this level and to make saving lives part of the mission and not just for profit. Saab stands for a company with integrity and dignity and care for their customers on every level. My heart weeps and I weep that this company was slaughtered by a big fat evil corp. I think of how many people would have survived a fatal car crash had they been in a Saab instead, and now these cars are NOT EASY to come by. I came by mine out of sheer luck, or maybe even God’s grace lol. The car actually found me. The roads where I live are terribly dangerous. And we have awful drivers here, most of which are drunk (my bf works at the courthouse and sees how many DUI’s happen each week. The number for this small city is appalling). The only reason I have peace of mind is knowing my Saab 9-3 would take all the pain and damage for us passengers. It’s a noble, heroic car. Saab owners know how difficult it is to not humanize your Saab. We see them as our friend first, vehicle second. Nobody on the planet will have your back like a Saab. If I ever become wealthy enough I would seriously consider finding a way to resurrect this brand, with it’s original groundbreaking Swedish engineering still in tact. Snd no GM allowed, ever again. It’ll be a sworn rule, as serious as the guidelines the 2 ppl who know the coca cola secret recipe have to follow. When I die as CEO, giving Saab away to another awful car brand like GM will be punishable by death 😂 don’t ask how I’ll be able to enforce that… I’ll have money by then. I’ll have my ways…
I drove 400km last week in a 1 year old merc e-klass in slippery conditions with great studded tyres. The roadfeel in the merc was no way near to what my 1984 900 manages to transfer. I have driven over a million kilometers in old the 900 in all sorts of conditions and have never felt that level of safety and confidence in any other car.

This is BS, the 900 was the worst performing car in it's class when tested by EuroNCAP.

That's in the context of their sales success which is a lot less than the successful brands. If they sold enough they could have survived.
