It's pretty much asumed he's the same person, sending you up to call for help, as Eli states seeing Gordon the last time at BM in this chapter.

Something I forgot to say yesterday: HL1 expansion packs are not canon entirely. Valve does not acknowledge them as part of the mainline canon, because they were developed at the same time as HL2. One exception might be Barney (out the hundreds as he is based on the generic guard model), who became the protagonist of Blue Shift as Valve outsourced development to Gearbox and allowed to write a backstory for him. Though, the rest (such as the identitity of those two HEV suits taken at the start of HL1), the final hours of Black Mesa, more lore info about the army you fought there, etc, are not that important to Valve's post-resonance cascade world, hence, their status.

Interlooper is infamous for its plataforming and overall length. Black Mesa (remake) made it even longer and trickier. Other than that, congrats for surviving the black mesa incident. We'll see you up ahead, Mr. Jason :^) (P.S: HL1 expansions are worth the play too)

Surface Tension was hell for me too on my first run, but then I played the game again a couple days later and it was not only easier but so much more fun. Idk what changed, but I had a blast replaying it.

Scientists have generic names based on their models: * Walter (Glasses) * Luther (Black) * Slick (Black hair) * "Einstein" (self-explainatory) In some cases there are special variants as importants characters in the expansion packs, but I'd rather not spoil any of that.

You shouldn't leave that many boxes behind, though. Even if they seem like obstacles you're missing ammo such as those military laser mines. And don't bother saving scientists all the time, devs gave scientists very little use aside for a handful throught the game (a lot of are scripted to die either way). Keep them in a safe spot and scout ahead until you see something they can open (a working retinnal scanner, for example). And get used to save once your HEV suit and Health are high enough. This game uses autosaves often once you enter new areas, don't rely on that feature or you'll end up in a softlock with 5% HP or worse. Good playthrough, you had more patience than I had defeating that tentacle alien in my first time 😂. So far so good, best of luck.
