Fender Vintera II Bass VI Did they fix it?
Просмотров 10 тыс.Год назад
Hello! Today I look at the Fender Vinters II Bass VI. I reviewed the Squier Bass VI before and was frustrated by the bridge that would not allow you to intonate the bass properly. Does the Vintera II address this? Does it bass? Let me know what you think. #fender #fenderbassvi #fenderbass #bassvi #bassreview #bassdemo

Jackson!
I love my Jackson. Being primarily a guitar player, and despite owning some premium priced guitars, I just couldn’t really justify the price of a Rickenbacker…especially as it would only be played occasionally. But I love the look…and the Jackson has a great vibe. (And sound.) If I were a bass player, I’d probably just get both…along with a P, a J, and probably a bunch of others as well.
Cool tks
I just bought a 3 year old😮 7:17
I just bought a 3 year old one for 200. I looks brand new. I normally play Guild acoustic guitar but wanted to learn bass. The size at first turn me off but for that price I couldn't turn it down. After messing with it last 2 days I love it.
Great demo tks
I've not handled the Squire VI but my MIJ 1995 Fender VI has all the same intonation problems that I've heard about the Squier VI. Since I'd spent $2,000 and knew the MIJ was going to be as good as I could get, I set out to fix it and succeeded. It now plays like a dream! What I had to do was: • Remove the A and low E intonation springs to get the full range of the screw • Max out the bridge height • Put 1.5 degrees of shim in the neck pocket (thanks StewMac) • Put La Bella .95 gauge flatwound strings on it (factory is .85) • Loosen the neck bolts to adjust the truss rod several times • Put two copper fittings (58077 Sleeve Bearing) in the bridge ferrules to make it not rock aka go out of tune just by looking at it • Replace the low E intonation screw with a half length one because when configured properly that string vibrates against that screw Anyway, hope anyone looking to fix up one of these finds this useful.
@@KyleVass thanks for that detailed rundown. I just replaced the stock bridge on my Fender with a Staytrem. It is superior to the stock one.
Love doggie
😂
super helpful thank you
I love the bongo! I had that exact one, with that Barolo color, if im correct that color is based on one John Petrucci’s majesty color, I wish they added the 4 band eq to the stingrays
Fender sounds good... Squier airy rich.....
There is a massive difference, take both on the road and you will find the Fender holds up..
Yes, there is a big difference in quality.
Would you recommend this Spector model or a Schecter Charles Berthoud model?
Dude for like 30 years I never really cared to figure out what that little thumb bar was for. Or tug bar as you called it. I thought it was just for a left-handed bassist if they flipped it upside down. Thanks for that little tidbit😂
Hello, im considering buying one of this basses brand new for 900usd. How do you feel it compared to an ibanez sr500? Its worth ?
Hello! Depends on a few things. The Ibanez would be a little more flexible tone wise as it has a different pre amp in it. The Spector is definitely worth it, but hard to say without k nowing what you want in the bass to make a recommendation. If you could play both first that would be helpful.
Thanks for you reply. I would like a bass comfortable, and versatile ( keeping the classical sound of spector). Do you think it will fit the jazz or blues tone ? @@KPJohnson
While both sounded pretty good, I think the Mesa hit harder with a bit more solid bottom. I'm wondering if the high pass filter on the mesa has something to do with that?
Thanks Bud, really helpful review/ demo
I wish they came in more colors
All the demos with the control adjustments sound nearly identical coming through my studio monitors. Super bass-heavy, no articulation.
Great comparison. Thank you.. I love that T-shirt as well. I need to find one like that. I have some 45s.
The G&L is nice
My Fender PBass stays in tune My Squire seems to be out of tune often. I also have funky dead spot on the B of the G String with my Squire. Plus when I got the Squire it needed fret work. It had sharp edges and they looked un finished. The pots on my Squire seem loose. The Fender seem to have better pots. That being said for the price a Squire is an awesome first bass, but you will probably move on quickly to a better bass
Agree man. I just picked up a 2019 Player second hand for only £100 more then the Squier. It's like the previous owner never played it. The Squiers I played were very good for the money but just felt cheaper overall than the MIM.
They are great basses.
Just ordered mine and im so excited for it! looks beautiful
@@WompWalkThrough it’s a wonderful bass. I hope you enjoy it.
I think the Jackson had a more modern contemporary sound and was slightly brighter. I think if it was mixed well, you wouldn’t hear the different. Ultimately, a Rick is a Rick, but for a third of the price, the Jacksonbacker takes the win here
I agree the build quality of the Fender is a little superior, but sound-wise, they are very similar - it's hard to tell the difference to be honest.
Great video. It’s down to preference really. I currently own a Squier Affinity PJ bass. I like it. I owned a 70s jazz bass for decades. I prefer a precision bass.
Have you tried it on distortion? I'm thinking of buying this bass for metal/ rock bass.
Why is the Dingwall so muddy? Although it's the longest scale. So the 1505 sounds piano clear and resonant.
Do you feel like the body is huge?
@@nocureforyou9747 I wouldn’t say huge, but definitely notice the size. It is thin so it’s not too bad.
The top grain is a sticker.
Are there aftermarket bridges that will work on the Squier?
@@jimix5708 yes, the Stay Trem will work but they are hard to come by. I ordered one in June but they said they are a few weeks out. 6 weeks and no update yet.
You got yourself a nice bass.

For me the key parts you mentioned are, gigging with an acoustic/semi acoustic trio and smaller bar gigs/smaller rooms. That's not my gig and not what I need, as much as I love TEs and the look of it. Good review though, and sounds great. So, gigging as long as it's small gigs and you don't need much grunt... 👌
I love Fender Jazz Bass
I would like to know if the Squier's neck is versatile, do you find it smooth, what modifications would you make to the electronics, if any need?
Do they both have Jazz necks 🤔
@@Hiphopdabop no. The Squier does but the Fender has the modern P Bass profile.
Original P nut is 1.75, Player is 1.62, and Jazz is 1.5. So Player is right between the two. 👍
Was the Asat bass the last production G&L bass that Leo Fender designed?
@@danielcapalbo5293 yes, I believe so.
It floors me that nobody weighs these bases nobody Waze any bases😢
A lagendary bass and a rickenbacker 😂😂😂😂 Nice vídeo.
You can’t really compare Both Basses because the Squier has roundwound strings on and the fender has flatwounds on. With different Type of strings the comparison is misleading - sorry.
Expensive as Hell but I had to get one! I got this same exact bass, same color. Ya can't play no Lemmy without a Rick! And Yes I took the pickup cover junk off as well as the mandatory Hip Shot swap
I Love me some big ole baseball bat-Fender p bass necks! That fatness is the reason I sound great while everyone else plays some tinny Ibanez soundgear crap bass sounding like crap....that's a load of crap
I just bought a Trace Elliot 1x10 combo rig. Any thoughts on adding a 1x10 cabinet vs. a 2x8 cabinet?
Depends on what you want for sound. I think the 110 would be best. Gives extended low mids.
@@KPJohnson Thanks. I'm mostly playing classic rock, Americana and singer/songwriter stuff with my bass guitar and big band jazz with my electric upright, so I'm into a fatter rather than a punchier sound. My combo works for most things (usually I line out), but I want more volume for a few outdoor gigs. I appreciate your comment.
@@jimmorgenstern9992 the 1x10 extension should be perfect.

That’s cool bass, a cool sound lots of flexibility, but my only use for that would be is if I was on a jazz gig
A five-string version would be nice. Unfortunately, they all seem to be fitted with humbuckers.
