I dont mind the combat. It beats rolling 1's every turn and missing every attack found in other games.
Jesus, this looks pretty complicated. You might as well play a computer RPG instead. It is fascinating that people are into complicated tabletop games that take more than 4hours to finish. That level of complexity would be much better suited for a computer game.
I see your point, these types of board games are definitely not for everyone. I think games like these are catered toward groups who are interested in more of a DnD-in-a-box type game. A one off mission, in a way.
A rules/how to play/mechanics breakdown would be amazing
I enjoy filming how-to-play videos but this one would be quite the task! Maybe someday I will try it!

I enjoy all the HexploreIt series with two players. It does not get to the table super often, but it is just a fun cooperative experience. The combat still is not amazing, but everything else about this game is so much fun (if you can overcome the rulebook :D ). Thank you for the kind words. Happy Gaming!

Thanks for your review. I agree that this game is superb, and the publisher communicates really well with the community and this series offers a lot of content, and I am personally looking forward to the new Mountains of Godai expansion on Gamefound later this month. The company even has a Patreon account which I support because the publisher shares a lot detail in their development process (and really listens to constructive feedback) and offers some free bonus content too. Overall, this is truly a great board game published by a very reputable and committed company.
I 100 percent agree. Even though they don’t make it to the table often, I can really tell the passion from the designer. This truly is a great dnd in a box or a one shot campaign for those who want a really awesome 6-7 hour experience!

For solo, not many bag builders come to mind. But me and my buddies enjoy altiplano, Orleans, and automobiles when we think about bag builders.

So we don't count the tiles that were previously added to the board and are not connected to another tile in this round? (for example the first blue tile on the first row).
@eliastrzibachi2107 Correct. When you add a tile to the right side of the pattern board, it will only score for the tiles it is touching (or one if it’s by itself). The only time you will score the tile (and adjacent tiles) is when it is first placed on the pattern board. Let’s take one final example: let’s take a look at the end state of the board (anything after 2:00). And let’s focus on the first row. If a yellow tile is placed next round on the first row, it will immediately score 3 points (next to red and blue tiles also in first row). If a blue tile is placed in the first row instead, it will score 4 points. It will count itself in the row and column. 2 for the row it’s in with the red in the first row, and 2 for the column it’s in with the red in row 2. Lastly, if black was placed instead, it would score 3 points for the row of 3 it made on the last column. Let me know if you have any additional questions! I know it’s tough to explain over text.

Thank you very much for the kind words! That is a great question I never thought about... I dont think the historical background would be as needed, but it can be tough to put yourself in the president seat without knowing a little bit about the cabinet members and the two party system that the USA has. If you look at it from a big picture, this game could still be for anyone, but I think you would get more enjoyment if you knew a little about how the system works. I HATE politics, but something about this game and managing crisis is what pulled me in and kept me playing multiple games. That is a great question though, and I will have to think about that a little bit more!
@@boardgamesfortwo I know the general stuff about US political system but in Europe generally and specifically in my country, Greece, the political system is way different than US. I would definitely be more interested in a theme closer to my experiences. Archon in ancient Greece city states, or something like Alexander the Great, who had more responsibilities. Even a king in medieval Europe would be a better theme for me. If I find this game for a good price I might get it and express my opinion after but I don't know if I will have the opportunity!

Really I can t understand this game! Sometime you overtake counting 1 2 like at 1:03:29, sometimes you do a contest.... sometime you need a check sometime not.... sometime you contest with 2 cards... sometime with one card...boh... so unclear
