The questionnaire may have changed since we did it but we wouldn't expect it to be too much. Different questions may of course appear for you than for us given how you answer previous questions. You must file at least one confirmation statement every 12 months. Your 12 month review period starts on either the date your company incorporated or the date you filed your last confirmation statement. There is a multi business account facility within Revolut, but it isn't clear if this is to link multiple businesses that each have 1 account or for a single business to have multiple accounts. You don't have to register trading names with Companies House and you can have as many as you want. Again though you need to take care not to infringe on any other businesses trademarks with your trading names and of course you can consider registering your own trading name as a trademark - e.g. ABC Limited trading as Apples, Biscuits and Cakes for Sale. A purchase order is not a payment mechanism. It will simply be the means by which your client wants to instruct the work and is an internal process to them. Payment should be by standard means - bank transfer, card etc - which is not dependent on you being a sole trader or limited company. Hope that helps 👍

We didn’t do a switch but instead simply set up another bank account with Monzo. We’re planing to test the switching service soon though and will post another video to let everyone know how it goes!

There are sub accounts you can set up within Tide that can serve a similar purpose. This is what their website says “If you have a registered business account you can create up to 3 sub-accounts under your main one. Each sub-account has its own unique account number. You can open a sub-account by leaving this chat, going to the 'Payments' tab and tapping 'Accounts' > 'Add new account'. Sub-accounts exist under your main business account and cannot be used for the purposes of another business.” Hope this helps 👍

Hi HSBC Kinetic is the mobile app offering from HSBC. It is only available to businesses with less than £6.5m turnover. Also only sole traders or companies with a sole director are eligible, in addition the sole director must own at least 75% of the share capital of the company. It appears to be an offer for single person businesses as in addition to the eligibility restrictions, you can only use the app on one device. For some these restrictions will not be important, but check that it works for you before proceeding

Many thanks Trevor and delighted you found the video helpful. Yes you're right on both counts. Price has gone up to £34 from 1st May 2024 and you only pay once per year. Relevant GovUK webpage here - www.gov.uk/guidance/confirmation-statement-guidance - which states "You only have to pay the annual fee with your first confirmation statement in the 12 month payment period. You can then file as many confirmation statements as you want in this payment period." Many thanks for flagging these points 👍

Hi, thanks for the reply. Re your confirmation of paying only once. Your video shows you paying for the service (the old rate) even though you were part way through the year. Or did you add that for reference to the video?

Not entirely sure to be honest if the pay only once per year came in also on the 1st May with the fee change. Our CS wasn’t due but we wanted to do the video so we just did it and it asked for the fee so we paid it. So video steps are as we found the process when we did. Hope that makes sense!

Hi, there are no stupid questions, we are hoping to help people who are doing this sort of thing for the first time. It will be the company Unique Tax Reference (UTR) that they are requesting. Separately they may want to do identification checks on directors and main shareholders, but that will usually be photo ID and utility bills etc.

Nationwide, Barclays? Don't want to take card payments as too expensive. Working in Foot Health Care, never done business before. Not great on apps, will be looking at a bookkeeper to pay tax. May have to take cash, bank transfers, cheques etc. (As a lot of older people need foot care.) Was thinking of Stirling, but know they wont let bookkeeper onto my account. This is driving me crazy, wish could go back in time when banks helped you to run a business. Really appreciate your help Thank you.
