Hi mate, is there any certain way to fish for these? i live in the port and never catch any. I'm just wondering if im reeling in too fast or just bad luck would appreciate a reply 😊
Hi mate, I find best fishing is 1 hour before and after high tide, and best months are may- July, really just luck on the day 😁👍🎣🎣🎣
Thank you mate
No way bud. I know this video is 2yrs+ old now but just came across it. Anyway, I just set my pb the end of February this year with guess what.,..... a 20lb 2oz Pike from Kilbirnie loch.
Congratulations on the pb 🥳🥳🥳, hopefully we both get a new pb later this year, 😁👍, tight lines and thanks for the support, it's much appreciated, tight lines mate 😁👍🎣🎣🎣🎣
What method was you using? Lead on the bottom with a floating dead bait? Congratulations on your PB! 🇬🇧❤

When dead baiting do you use a leader with your braid and if so which is best and line strength please ?
Hi when deadbaiting I use 40lb wire traces 😁👍🎣🎣🎣🎣
Is that just jigging from the pier you are doing?
Yeah just using lures mostly 😁👍🎣🎣🎣

Do we need a permit to do fishing at loch lomand? Or we can go just any time and fish if we want to?
Yes you need a permit, can get it out the Glasgow angling centre, it's £10 a day or £75 for the year, and it's strictly catch and release only 😁👍🎣🎣🎣
Whos bait boat

@@Hookedonfishingscotland always bro 🐊🎣
Many years ago, I was fishing a small lake near me and a pike bit me off... I was really pissed off over it, knowing a fish was swimming around with my trace in its mouth... that night at home, I kept thinkin about it and so I decided to go back down in the morning and see if by some miracle I might hook it again, ... the following day, 3 hours in, I caught her and she was seriously mad at me ! ... I unhooked both traces , weighed her and set her free... 16lbs as far as I can remember, a fine fish !... I was elated at being able to save her from a slow death...though she didn't show much gratitude, trashing about as I got the hooks out, thankfully as I always use barbless, it was easy enough.. Sometimes miracles DO happen... ☺️ 🤗 Happy Xmas and tight lines to all !! 😎👍☘️🍺
That's brilliant you caught the pike the next day 😁👍 well done cracking fish 😁👍, there is a pike in loch awe I have caught 8 times over the last 5 years, I know it's the same fish because it has a golf ball size lump under its right side of its head... First time I caught the pike it was under 2lb and last time I caught the pike it was 14lb 12oz... It's brilliant to see a fish go back and catch it again and see it grow up healthy 😁👍, that's why I always do catch and release 😁, thanks for your comments and continued support it's very much appreciated, tight lines 😁👍🎣🎣🎣🎣
Well done with your home made spinners may be you should mass produce and market them 😂 great short video
Thanks 😁, yeah I just enjoy making them, something about making your own gear makes it more special when you catch 😁👍, thanks for the support much appreciated, tight lines 😁👍🎣🎣🎣🎣
Nice video all the very best to you for 2024 👍
Thanks 😁👍🎣🎣🎣🎣, happy new year🥳🥳, hope you have a good one, tight lines 😁👍🎣🎣🎣🎣
Thank you for so much knowledge for a newbe like me just getting going the bait casting set up is just fine so can I ask you what the rod and eeel set up you prefer for lure and fly jig fishing so I can get both I live in Lancashire but holiday in the trossachs At loch Achray so near to venachar and katerine and monteith etc kind regards Alan
Thanks for the support it's very much appreciated mate 😁👍🎣🎣🎣, if you watch episode 1 I talk through my rod and set up for jig flies/ lures, hope this helps, tight lines mate 😁👍🎣🎣🎣🎣
Nice video do you use different rods for dead baiting also what kayak do you use recommend I would like to get into pike fishing thanks
Thanks 😁👍, yes I use different rods when dead baiting, my go to type of rod are 10ft 3lb with bait runner real 50lb braid, my kayak at the moment is a feel free moken 10ft, I have a Facebook page if you have any more questions you can message me there and I will try my best to help, I can even arrange to meet up and have a day pike fishing so you can see how to set up and stuff, happy new year 🥳🥳, tight lines 😁👍🎣🎣🎣🎣
What size bait runner for 10 ft rid please ad I will go with the Abu Also will let you know when I am next in the trossachs in case you are available to meet up poss monteith etc. any drinks and food will be on me 👍
@@alangoffin3599 size 60 bait runner is what I use 😁👍, and definitely can meet up next time your back, tight lines 😁👍🎣🎣🎣🎣
Look forward to it. What about reel size for 12ft. Larger bait runner or put reel ?
I would still use a size 60 bait runner with 50lb braid 😁👍🎣🎣🎣
Some nice fish throughout the season eh mate, looking forward to next seasons films mate, happy new year
Thanks mate much appreciated, happy new year 🥳, tight lines 😁👍🎣🎣🎣
Well done mate, tight lines for 2024 - hope it's a good one for you.
Thanks mate much appreciated 😁👍, tight lines 😁👍🎣🎣🎣🎣
I think that given how hard the pike have been hit by our foreign "friends" removing anything that swims and the fishing is now so much harder, having access to the "gadgets" helps to make up that deficit... I got a baitboat as a Xmas present last year and use it exclusively to drop deads at a range where others can't cast as the fish seem to have become wary of coming in close at certain venues ... I'm weighing up a Deeper but the latest model is looking very spendy for this old man... 🙄😂 I may change my mind tho... I also like to make & mod stuff pertaining to my fishing, as a retired engineer, I can often see how a slight mod to a shop-bought item can improve its performance... I mod my inline leads by removing the rubber tail and epoxying on a hard plastic ferrule (with rounded edges) at each end and this actually vastly reduces the friction and therefore the resistance the pike might feel....😉 Enjoying the vids, mate, keep 'em coming !! Oh, and a Happy New Year, hopefully a productive one ! 🐋🐋 From the Emerald Isle 😎👍☘️🍺
I know what you mean, nothing worse than people killing fish for no reason, that's why I always do catch and release 😁👍🎣🎣🎣,... I love my bait boat definitely helps with fishing when you can cast to a swim, The deeper is ok to be honest I like it, I find it helps me find the fish easier by looking for places the fish like to hide, like weed beds and stuff 😁👍, plus always good to know the temperature of the water when pike fishing 😁👍🎣🎣🎣 Can't beat home made, nothing better that catching on something you have made yourself, makes the catch more rewarding 😁👍 Happy new year 🥳🥳, thanks again for the support, it's very much appreciated, tight lines 😁👍🎣🎣🎣
@@Hookedonfishingscotland Thanks for the reply ! 😎👍☘🍺
Congrats to Rebecca !... my first ever fishing trip, I caught an 8 pounder too... it was like a switch was flipped in my head and I became an angler that day... a very GREEN angler... 😂 Thats probably 25+ years ago now and though I've had many bigger, I will always remember that one... my (10y.o. now ) PB in my pic is 27.75lbs and at 65y.o. I'm runnin outta time to see a thirty.... but it wont be for the want of trying ! 😈 Happy to sub & like... good luck with the channel, I 95% do deadbaiting when piking, lure fishing is too active for me with my dodgey knees these days...😤 but whatever ya upload, I'll watch.. Edit.. After watchin, yer PB did a good number on yer hand mate !.. 😅 no pain no gain !! And the clip of ya holding that jack & shivering in the nighttime sub zero temps was funny and familiar to me.. 😏🤣 Tight lines from The Emerald Isle 😎👍☘️🍺
Rebecca says thanks very much 😁👍,... Yeah my first pike was 7lb, can never forget your first fish/ pike, that was me hooked on pike from that day on 😁👍. My pb was 15lb for 10 years then finally managed 2 years ago to finally catch my new pb of 20lb 2oz. Hopefully we both catch a new pb and 30lb pike this year, happy new year and all the best 🥳🥳, hope you catch plenty on 2024, thanks for all your support it's very much appreciated, tight lines 😁👍🎣🎣🎣🎣
