Ive always wondered the correct way to play the side snare pattern. You cant hear most of it in the mix, and it sounds very simple tap tap tap, but there's much more to it. I see everyone doing a cover of this song playing it different

That was so smooth man that was just awesome. I’m so glad to see somebody do it on a small kit too, so it is possible to play Rush on on small kit, ya just got to be creative. Playing left-handed like that is even more crazy! Bravo to you!

You just can’t do justice to a Neil Peart drum cover with only 2 toms. It’s as simple as that but with respect. The tonality just isn’t there. The overall playing is good though.

I am similar to you as far as the left handed thing goes. I am ambidextrous and lead with my left hand. I think I should have set up and played as a lefty but all that I saw on MTV growing up were right handed drummers....I didn't know any different so I set up as a righty and taught myself to play righty. Here I am 40 years later (truly unknown what the actual number of shows I've played over those years, the number of studio sessions I've enjoyed, etc.) I've had a great "career" for being self taught but I wish I'd taken the time to tear myself down and re-learned to play either open handed (as you are) or just learn left handled...So, now on to why I replied. This is one of the smoothest cover of this song that I've seen in quite a while sir! Excellent homage to the Professor!!! May the Grandfather of groove, the Original originator, Lord of lyrics, Rest in Peace. Well done man.

I suggested playing this song in a cover band many years ago and the drummer looked at me like I tried to throw him over a cliff. It's easy to see why now.
