Don’t even worry about it . Judging in surfing is unfortunately done by objective judging . Meaning it’s purely based on what the judge likes . That’s it . If the judge don’t like u . Well to bad. It’s not like football or baseball. In surfing the whole crowd and they moms can say u won but sorry the judge don’t like u. No win for u.

Well deserved. One of the things he doesn't mention it's not just that he's getting second often, but he's getting second like a tenth of a point or half a point off. The kinda heats that could go either way. Just a brutal grind and his plan seemed to be 'just skim even harder' and stop leaving room for interpretation. Gonna be many more for this guy.

Great interview Tre and Brett! Lots of great insights and predictions about skim contests. I wanted to expand on something Brett mentioned at the 22:00 mark regarding the announcement of scores and the "score needed" for a particular rider. We decided to stop announcers from mentioning the "score needed" for a specific reason: it provides judges with more information than necessary. Our goal is for judges to score rides based solely on their merit. They should consider only the rides they've already scored and place the next score within that context. We don't want judges to be influenced by the storyline of the heat or whether a particular rider is winning or losing, as this can create an illusion of bias or amplify subconscious biases and storylines. In short, judges should focus on the ride, not the rider. On the judges' tablets, they only see their own score sheets and the scores they've entered. By not announcing the "score needed," judges remain unaware of these specifics and can maintain their focus on scoring the rides accurately and fairly. I hope this clarification helps.

I enjoy PSL events more than UST events. And Salta's support of smaller events and lesser known riders (and even this interview of course) speak volumes of his character in our sport. I really believe we can achieve more with more Saltas, more Clays, more Steezys, etc. It's just not gonna happen overnight. And our consistency today becomes our sports greater moments tomorrow.

Hands down the best representative our sport has ever had. The peak of his career was one of the most compelling stories in skimboarding's history. And eventually needs to be told in full. His DVD segments set a standard people still struggle to elevate to.
