I brought a flex steel recliner May 2022. The seat part cushion lost the memory foam bounce back feel. Meaning it felt like there was a hole in the seat of the recliner. Then due to leaning to one side because of the "hole" in the seat. The cushions on that side of the chair started going bad. The furniture store I brought the chair from did add more cushion to the seat of the recliner but it only lasted about a month and a half. Then we were right back to feeling like there was a hole in the cushion. Now two nights ago the motor stopped working leaving the recliner in a half closed position.😐 I paid $2000.00 yes TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS for this recliner. The most I've ever spent on a recliner. The biggest and most expensive piece of 💩 I've ever brought. I think we have past the lemon 🍋 stage! NEVER AGAIN! Will I buy a FLEX STEEL. IT'S A STEEL ALRIGHT. THEIR WARRANTY is just about as valuable as the paper its written on. Actually the paper has more value to it than the warranty.

I just did something similar on my couch recliner yesterday! My mechanism is a little more toward the inside of that rail. so I ground out a u shaped hole to allow mechanism to swing through. but I love the washer idea! I was baffled as to why the outside is hitting but the other side of the chair isn't. I bet it is up in the seat box that I can't see. My arm rest is also free floating. none of the mechanism arms seemed bent. thanks for documenting your fix ideas. The hardest part of finding videos like this is knowing what to actually search for! but I'm glad I found it.

Thank you for this video. We have a Flexsteel sectional and love it but have had issues with a middle section with this lever. So is it just the two screws? We have had the handle come off and the tech used four screws to fasten it back on, but it recently came loose again, with the screws falling out. Hoping for a way to resolve this. Maybe longer screws? Or larger size?

I recently purchased and received my Flexsteel Henry leather recliner. I was not home when it was delivered, but there was someone there so that my recliner could be delivered and setup. When I got home later that day I went to try out and relax on my new recliner. First thing that was obvious to me, is that the backrest is not even. One side is at least 1" farther back than the other side, creating a backrest that is not completely flat and even. I thought that maybe the delivery people didn't install the backrest correctly. So, I removed the backrest to check it and reinstall it, thinking it might been installed incorrectly causing the misalignment. Unfortunately, the backrest was installed properly, and the problem is caused by something else. I called the furniture store that I bought the chair from and spoke to one of their repair technicians. I explained what the issue was, hoping he would tell me how to fix, adjust, the backrest so that the it sits evenly and not at a slight angle. To my surprise, he said that that issue/problem is quite common with Flexsteel recliners, and there is no fix or adjustment to correct it. Why, I asked? He said that that's how Flexsteel manufactures and assembles their recliners, often the recliners have a misaligned, uneven, backrest. He also told me that furniture store owners and repair techs have voiced their concerns to Flexsteel, asking them to do better and correct this flaw. Unfortunately, Flexsteel continues to produce recliners with that KNOWN flaw, and they have done nothing to address that problem and correct it. Had I known that this flaw is common, and the my recliner could have this problem, I would have either not purchased a Flexsteel recliner, or I would have stipulated to the store that if my recliner came with this flaw, then they would have to order a new one, until I received a recliner that has a properly manufactured, and aligned with an even and level backrest. This flaw is absolutely unacceptable for a recliner that costs $2000+, depending on where a person buys it from. I've tried to contact Flexsteel, but there isn't a phone number to call, nor an email by which to communicate with Flexsteel. I was only able to post a question on the Flexsteel website. The response I received did not address the recliner's problem. The reply said that I should contact the furniture store where I purchased the recliner. I have, and nothing can be done by them, and Flexsteel doesn't even want to communicate with their customers to help out. Very, very disappointing, especially for a American manufacturer.

@@williambrosmer213 Hi William. The following is a long response, but I wanted to give you the fuller story about my experience with Flexsteel, and La-z-boy. If the Flexsteel recliner you like is comfortable for you, I would still consider getting it, even though my particular recliner has that slightly off issue. For me, thankfully, the uneven backrest is not noticeable in terms of the backrest feeling tilted, uneven, or uncomfortable. The problem is more a visual issue thankfully. If you find a Flexsteel recliner that you like and want to buy, I would suggest you tell the furniture store that you want a WRITTEN agreement that AFTER you receive your recliner, if the recliner is not exactly as you want it, then the store will either order you a new recliner or give you a full refund. That way you'll know that you have options for the money you spent, and you won't be stuck with an expensive piece of furniture that you don't like. The furniture store where I purchased my Flexsteel is actually really great customer service. I had purchased a new large-man La-z-boy recliner. I had purchased about 6 La-z-boy recliners over the decades, all manually operated. The last 4 recliners were their "large" chairs made for bigger and taller people, and they are a good bit larger than any Flexsteel recliners. Unfortunately, the La-z-boy recliner I received came with a broken backrest. For the first couple of weeks I couldn't figure out exactly what was wrong, but overall it was very uncomfortable, and I could distinctly feel that the backrest was not even and my back was tilted back, down, and to the right compared to the left side. After closer inspection, by me, I found that the backrest is broken, and the backrest bracket was also not holding the backrest from falling backwards, which it is not supposed to do as there is a friction adjustment to give greater hold depending on the person's weight and how much they need to manually push back on it so that it reclines. That mechanism and the broken inner structure of the backrest made the whole recliner AWFUL to sit in. The furniture store sent a repair tech, who confirmed what I told them. He said they would order a new back and that should fix the issues. I said that it would be best to simply order a whole new recliner. He said they could do that, but to first try the backrest. I wasn't convinced, but initially agreed. After nearly two weeks, the new backrest was not going to come in for "a while". So, I contacted the store manager, who agreed that I could get a new La-z-boy recliner, or get another type and brand of recliner. That is proper and great customer service.. And so, I got the Flexsteel Henry model, power recliner. It took about 2 weeks to get that recliner delivered to me. Not bad, as some of their other models were going to take from 4-6 weeks. Last thing on the La-z-boy recliner. The new backrest, to replace the broken one, took over 5 weeks, because La-z-boy had items on "back order". I find that interesting considering that La-z-boy and Flexsteel are both US manufacturers. I decided that I will keep my Flexsteel recliner as it is a bit more comfortable than the new La-z-boy I returned, because that manual recliner had an actual broken wood part in the backrest. Given how expensive these recliners are, from Flexsteel and La-z-boy, their quality control at the factories is awful in my experience. There is ZERO reason to get a brand new piece of furniture that is delivered with a problem or flaw. I also have to say that Flexsteel's customer service, as it relates to customers being able to speak with Flexsteel about problems and questions, is also pretty much non existent. I tried to communicate with Flexsteel and there is no way to contact them directly via phone nor email. All they have is a very difficult to find "question & answer" section on their website, where you can only ask a question. You might get an answer, but there NO WAY to actually follow up and talk about your concerns and questions. I received an "answer'" from Flexsteel to contact my furniture dealer about any problems, concerns, and questions I have. That is extremely poor customer service, because customer service is pretty much non existent with Flexsteel. Given the high end price of their recliners and other furniture, Flexsteel is not investing in customer service. There is no excuse for that. I am, was, and did agree to pay for the recliner, but I did not know that they didn't have any customer service, before I made the purchase. I do like the recliner so far. I am waiting for the cushions to break in, as my recliner does not feel as comfortable as the recliners I tried in the store, which have been tried out by a lot of people and thus broken in. It is the same with the La-z-boy recliner I purchased, the one with the broken back. It too was not nearly as comfortable when new as the recliners I tried in the store. In my view, that's another big issue that these recliner manufacturers really need to figure out. When getting the new recliner in your home, you notice how extremely firm and not very comfortable the recliner is, because the cushion materials are extremely firm and stiff, to the point that you question if your new chair was made differently to the chairs you tried in the stores. Good luck with your shopping.

I'm looking to replace them only because the recliner arms are showing a bit shiny from heavy use. Note - Kashmira fabric is expensive - more than leather - but they'll look new for a decade.

If it was 1950 and your audience did not understand how edits and video production trickery worked this may have been a success, but its not fooling people is it?
