Wow, thank you, that was perfectly said... I was trying to figure out how I really felt about him when I made this video. I think the devs did a fantastic job of leaving these blanks for us to fill. It's also why I've been listening to Camille Lou's Les mots que l'on ne dit pas for months. :)

If a lot of the WoL's choices weren't locked by the story 80% of the player base would be Zenos by now. How many people would have joined in the Ascians in Shadowbringers if given the choice?

A bit late but. He is depressed. He has become so good that there is no1 else that can challenge him. He is bored. Nothing he does is fun or entertaining. Then suddenly you show up. You challenged him and that was enough for him to gain that spark of enjoyment once again and that is why he chased you to try and beat you. To finally have a challenge that is worth climbing towards.

She died when he was young. He grew up mostly raised by servants who had to obey his every whim. He was good at everything he ever tried, so he found everything boring and pointless until he was trained in combat where for the first time he found something he couldn't do well. His trainer kicked his butt every day using magic which Zenos couldn't wield and figuring out how to beat him was the first time Zenos ever felt alive. His one pleasure in life is facing challenges.
