In 2019 after moving to his current home, Alex built a live edge coffee table and matching end tables out of NW Red Cedar. Alex quickly fell in love with building something with his hands as a refreshing contrast to the technical world we live in.
Alex continued to grow, taking on a few projects here and there, watching countless hours of RUclips tutorials and started collecting secondhand tools. In 2020 Alex bought his first wood lathe and Nextwave CNC.
By 2022 Alex had opened Duffey Woodcraft LLC, turning his hobby to a small business selling at local markets, and local gift stores.

Great video. Thanks Alex!
Thank you 😊
Nice ideas. My very first official project I made on my Shark was a gift for a Bigfoot themed baby shower, and it turned out very nice.
OH MAN! A Bigfoot themed baby shower sounds SO COOL! What did you make?
@@DuffeyWoodcraft it was an epoxy inlaid Bigfoot piece for a wall or shelf. The parents loved it and had it in the baby’s room, and dad asked for another one for his man cave. I was asked 3 days before the shower if I could pull something together for the party, so it was quickly put together. I’ll send a pic of the finished project to your email from your website to see.
Great video Dude! Had no idea you had a You Tube channel till I saw your last IG post. These crypto niche project things definitely sell. And you have turned me on to the Shark - appreciated. Two Knotty Dogs Crafts.
Thanks for watching! Yep, I'm fairly new to the RUclips world, but a commitment for two new videos a month for the next year at least, so you'll see more content from me :)
Packed with great information sir Outstanding job!!
Thank you sir! 😊
Another great video. I like your presentations and products. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much 👍😊
Good Video. I enjoyed your presentation. TKS
Thanks!
Great idea. I like maker videos so I subscribed with notifications.
Thank you! I appreciate that very much
Great product to sell. Tip is to do a raster toolpath with the grain and do a profile pass last. You shouldn't need to sand the inside at all.
Thanks! I normally don't do any sanding inside. Just a light pass on the bottom to get off fuzzies and on the side to get rid of tabs.
Great video!!! Congrats, I'm glad you found your niche. Those looks really good. 👍👍 Would you consider doing a Vcarve video on how they're designed, and the toolpaths that are used for something like this? 🤞 Thanks, and keep up the great work!!
Great suggestion Joe! I have a project video coming out next month where I recorded a webinar on Vcarve showing how I designed it! So make sure to be on the lookout for that one.
That sounds great!!! Thanks, I most definitely will be looking out for it and looking forward to it too. 👍👍
ive been having real problems coming up with new cool ideas and then come across this channel. im sure glad i did. thanks so much for the video and the price info. that helps new business oriented cnc'rs alot. So great job! I hope to see more videos from you soon
Thank you sir! That means so much to me. I have so many ideas and lots of videos in the works. I'll be doing two projects a month to start for the next year and go from there. If you haven't yet check out cncwithme.com I'm one of the instructors there and it's an amazing resource for all of us in the CNC community.
Thanks Alex. When I cleaned mine, I moved the gantry all the way to one end I could slide the cover along the bottom all the way out to one side of the machine. That allowed me to wipe the tube rails down and lubricated, but I didn’t have a good way to wipe off the screw in the center, under the bed. When I tried to spray it with dry lube, I didn’t have a spray tube long enough to spray directly onto the screw, so I just sprayed it in there and fastened a cloth to a piece of dowel to wipe it best I could. Just curious if I did that correctly on the bottom end of the machine?
Hi Tim, that's great advice and yes you did that correctly! Just the spray lubricant down there, nothing that needs the grease gun.
@@DuffeyWoodcraft thanks Alex!
I don't have a cnc in my shop, but...I still like seeing your work, as it gives me ideas. I've subscribed for sure and I appreciate it. Charlie Mike!!
Hi Charlie Mike! Thanks for the sub! If there is any topic you'd like me to cover let me know.
Great job. I love the added detail of the wave!
Thanks 👍😊
What a coincidence, I just bunged this up on the CNC With Me insta. It's beautiful Alex.
Lol thank you sir, and for the share on the page too
A really beautiful project Alex, great work!
Thanks Dad!
What a beautiful piece. Great job. My brother passed recently and he was a Vietnam veteran. That flag definitely hit home.
Thanks Lisa. I'm sorry to hear about your brother. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Great job Alex happy Fourth of July to you, sir
Thank you sir! Have a great day too!
Great job, Alex!
Thank you!
These are cool!
Thanks!
really beautiful holders! But how did the customer find out about you to order these holders?
Thanks for the question. I mentioned at the end of the video that I give one away for free to soap makers I see at markets, this order came from a maker I met that way.
@@DuffeyWoodcraft cool, dude!
Nice product design. Not too complicated. Shocked st how deep the 1st plunge with the Bowl Jenny and consistent feed rate. How fast were you pushing that?
That was just for the camera 😂 I normally am A LOT less aggressive but the Jenny bowl bit can really chew up soft wood quickly. Was at .5in depth on first pass
If you went back and did it again… would you still buy the Laser Pecker? I’m looking at that, the Xtool F1 and the S1
I haven't looked into the X1 so not positive. I LOVE the pecker 2 and like that it comes off of it's base so you can put it on larger things. Not sure if the others come apart like that or not. The app runs directly from my phone and is super simple to use, so I'll be a repeat customer
You’re killing it! Great work and thank you for the cost vs sale comparison. Also the golden nugget of acquiring wholesale clients!
Thank you sir! I really appreciate it 🙏
Based.
💛
Those look great! Very cool CNC my man!
Thanks 👍
nice video
Thanks
Good video. Right to the point. Pricing factors were a plus point.
Glad you liked it!
Can you make a video of performing routine maintenance on your HD520? More specifically, the tube rails and screw under the bed. i have this same machine and I can’t fit my hands under there to properly/effectively wipe and lube those components, so I’m curious how others tackle this area of their machine when performing routing maintenance.
Absolutely! I'll start working on it
Great video! Please keep them coming. The cost breakdown was super helpful-thanks!
Thanks buddy!
Great job Mr Duffey
Thank you Mr Hinkle!
Hi Duffey what is the latest version of Vectric so that you can edit the file. Thanks in advance
Hi Richard. The file on my Etsy store is Vcarve 11.5+
@@DuffeyWoodcraft Can you also open the file with a lower version?. Thanks
@@richardstrau4232 sadly no, Vcarve files are not backward compatible
@@DuffeyWoodcraft Thanks
Doh! Thought you got a sic @penguincnc offer!
Thanks
Great info! Thanks Alex. (TPSooner aka Terri)
Thanks Terri!
I e been using the nextwave boot for ~6 months, and am ready to upgrade to a better one. Thanks for posting this as it’s motivated me to get one sooner rather than later.
Glad I could help!
Great video! Very thorough! Appreciate you sharing your experience with it!
Thanks 😊

Great video! I have one too and love it! It really sucks! Ina good way!
It sure does 😆
Great review!
Thank you!
Great review brother! I’m still using my “suck it pro” that came with my OneFinity and I’m beyond over it. I’m going to check this out. All the RR’s stuff I’ve bought has been top tier.
Thanks!!
Good stuff Alex!
Thank you!
Great looking 10K game box Alex.
Thanks 👍
Well done Alex!!
Thank you 🙏😊
Very cool! Thank you for this unboxing and for the tips on assembly. It's nice to see great customer service from the NextWave staff!
Thanks Adam for the comment! Yes Nextwave CS is amazing, I have been happy anytime I have needed to work with them.
That's how I chew food too
No nonsense and straight to the point. Love it. Keep it up, brother.
Thank you!
Excellent. Greetings from Ireland
Greetings!!! 🤠
Hi buddy how do you make the wooden wheels please? Thx
Howdy! I didn't make the wheels, I purchased them from Amazon in bulk. 1.5in wheels. The axel's are bamboo dowels at 1/4in to match the holes that same pre-drilled in the wheels.
