Has the track been recently reconfigured? Used to run the other direction, IIRC. Also there was a hill in the rear right corner that my son had a really hard time seeing from the control booth.
Yes, it was rebuilt a couple months ago in preparation for the Nationals in mid August. There will be another reworking before the Nats as well.

That first big hill up against the far wall can be hard to see around! My kid kept getting hung up there because he wasn't tall enough to see behind it.

What kind of motors are folks typically running at this level?
It's 2wd Mod, so anywhere from 6.5 to 17.5 turn brushless motors. Mostly 7.5 and 8.5

jethro377 Good to know. We ordered an RC10b4.2 for my son's birthday. He'll have a long way to go if he wants to actually race, but would like to bring him out for some practice days.
Awesome! If he's just learning, a stock buggy will be plenty fast. Come fall and winter, races on Saturday have a lot of kids and there is usually a sportsman class which is perfect for beginners.
