Tiny Couch Concerts: Illiterate Light
September 2, 2024. Brandon Jolley - There’s a specific genre of music that I’ve come to discover among the time that I’ve spent as Music Director and a touring musician: best friend music. Hooky from Philadelphia cemented the term in an interview they did several months ago. Looking back at the session for The Black Keys, no… Simon And Garfunkel? Wait- Illiterate Light, it’s clear that Jeff and Jake truly love the act of creation with each other. Playing together since 2011 at James Madison University, and forming Illiterate Light in 2015. They spent time together managing an organic farm in Virginia and used their summers to tour by bicycle. The duo managed to catch their big break with ...

Tiny Couch Concerts: Mean Sweetie

August 6, 2024. Brandon Jolley - These Tiny Couches seem to be remembrance captions with Gamine last week and Mean Sweetie this week. When Mean Sweetie first rolled up to Russell House to unload, we immediately reminisced on the first show I booked at The Spaze with them, Primal Rat Screw from Philadelphia, VxM, and Quinn Rash from Charlotte. We ran into each other earlier that show day at Papa...
Tiny Couch Concerts: Gamine

Jul. 30, 2024. Brandon Jolley - I remember Gabe Crawford, Gamine’s bassist and songwriter, and I talking one day about Gamine and he essentially boiled down all of my praise and love into “yeah it’s just goth with Helmet basslines.” And what a wonderful sound that is. Every time I’ve seen Gamine play they absolutely pack whatever venue they play in Columbia, whether it’s DIY or unconventional v...

Matthew Rolin had us floating at our Tiny Couch before his show at the first UFO at GROW series concert in Columbia, SC. I’ve had him on my radar seeing his projects win best of years lists with Winged Wheel, Water Damage, and his slurry of solo and collaborative projects whether it be with his wife, Jen Powers, friend and Cloud Nothings drummer Jayson Gerycz, and a slew of other collaborative ...

Dude you need to go see a doctor.
Chappell is such a great writer, so she has to be a good reader, too. I think she probably just doesn't like reading necessarily because she hasn't found anything that interests her yet.
love SDC always <3 <3
Such a great Band!
what a way to end the interview xD
i would give anything to listen to chappell's dark bluegrass playlist
Set list 1: Reishi 2: Birri 3: 7 Great Floods

That was badass
the algorithm gods sent me here. such awesome music!
17 minutes of the best new music I have heard in a long time. Very exciting. Let's go Mean Sweetie!
Garbage
its not bad it kinda rocks
i think it’s hard to judge and give direction to a local band. the guy on the drums rocks, the guitarists have good output. just gotta put it together
better stick with CCR pal
@@jhendricks02LOL yeah pal take a hike back to Frankie Valli
Honestly it just sounds like a high school garage band.
played WUSC with my band the Artichokes back in 2009. So glad y’all are doing this!
yo this band is super talented!!
LETS GO MEAN SWEETIE IS THE BEST
fuck yeah mean sweetie
Can’t wait to see what they all do next. Such a talented group

I don't think "California" is about not liking the state. It's about moving there to follow your dreams but failing, having to give up and move back
Whoa, South Carolina is where it's at !
From what she's saying in this interview she must really love her sad and depressing pop/folk. The Book of Love is a great song to listen to if you're waiting to die. Glastonbury is bigger than Lollapalooza now that she's done it, hopefully they book her for next year, she will slay.
gamine the best band of all time
Long live gamine
Clair de Lune is Debussy's ❤
california has been majorly getting stuck more in my mind as of recently, as a person that has travelled a lot, although mostly through european areas i can relate to that feeling of homesickness, understanding that yes you dont feel as much aceeptance and relatability from that place you grew up in, however you still have the simple nostalgic things like the natural look of the seasons that make you miss it
She seems happier in this interview than I feel like I’ve ever seen her aw
We need to stop assuming wether shes happy or not unless she specifies it herself because shes said she has bipolar 2 but we dont know her ups and downs. Assuming shes “happier” doesnt help anyone!
@@lauryniti1807 this is a weird thing to say
@@Asifyoucouldoutrunme143 I know right. What a gross way of thinking to assume that the mental issues she faces is simply "feeling up and down".
Barbie movies do slap though
dave chappelle roanan farrow
i cant believe the interviewer predicted drake being a terrible guy
This is fucking awesome
She’s got the giggles 😂
Awesome! Greetings from a fellow Guitarist trapped down in here in Australia! Great to see this! Matt is great!
my ears r happy :]
Absolutely stunning
nothing to be nervous about bud, it's just a youtube video and we're floating on a rock in space! beautiful music thanks!
I wish I knew her back then
