50/50 for me, Nissan was in a position where it could always get squeezed and just unfortnsate the overlap by the BMW fired the BMW off instead of the Nissan running onto the grass. Conversely the BMW didn't know it had a Nissan there. so took the normal tight in wide out line. Nissan could have backed out and the BMW could have stayd tighter. Avoidable? Sure but racing incident, neither car changed line so they just came together spectacularly. No egos at all, just unfortunate. 50/50.

Feel sorry for Richard. He puts alot of effort into owning and running these cars for everyones enjoyment. This isnt the first time hes had damage during this race series. Wheras Soper is just a guest driver. I dont expect to see Richard back and the cars will be assigned to less risky demonstrations.

“They’ve taken each other out”. How true. On the exit of Druids, Soper, half a car length ahead, comes across on Wheeler, who then holds his line rather than back out. Bad judgement or bad egos? - you decide.

Soper totally at fault that, they made contact to start with gently but Soper had chance to ease off avoid further issues but kept leaning on Nissan

Incompetent Soper , driving standards like this are bad enough when it’s modern BTCC where sponsors pay for damage. Not when it’s an historic race car and probably someone else’s pride and joy .

For those of you blaming Steve Soper, can you please explain why the Clerk of the Course didn't, but instead chose to give Richard Wheeler two points on his licence which led to him withdrawing all of his cars the following day???

Is it obligatory to tell anyone wearing orange that he is amazing? When did this begin, and will amazing people stop being amazing if not fawned over continually? Just in case they would get the hump and stop enjoying their hobby if not called amazing by everyone: They are amazing. Cars that are very famous, emotive and evocative should be put in a museum and not smashed-up in ham-fisted, half-hearted reminiscence-racing.

Looks to me like Soper went for the gap (risky move) and the other guy was unable to back out quick enough so an expensive racing incident. Thing is as none of us were driving , it’s all too easy to criticise those involved. Once a racer, always a racer and the “red mist” can get the better of anyone. Iam sure neither of them intentionally smashed into each other for sh*ts and giggles tbh.
