this was a really great tutorial
Thanks for the bump :D hope you have fun with the workouts!
Thank you very much. I found mistakes in my works with eyes and I thought about some tips and I saw your video. A lot of help, thank you
Great work 🎉
This is a really good way to lay out a routine for practicing eyes! Not many tutorials on eyes focus on teaching them with respect to form and perspective, and even the tutorials that do cover those concepts often do so in rather vague or unconvincing ways. Great work on this!
Ooo thaanks so much for this!! that's really helpful for me to get feedback on what specifically's been helpful to focus my attention on :D :D
I didn’t noticed you came back! Thanks for the new video!
^_^ yey thanks... yea, instead of making simple tutorials i've been busy making my stupid comic that's going Noooowhere :p
The first exercise instantly improved my eyes damn
Awesome video thanks !!!! I have the Loomis books but I would like to see it in actual practice. His books are very text heavy so for a beginner like myself it distracts from being able to look at reference photos and break them down using the Loomis method. I just discovered your channel and love the short concise examples so we can watch the videos and then get to practicing.
wow thaanks for this great insights into studying Loomis. Breaking the roadmap he laid down into more workable/workbook style chunks could be a great series for future videos. 🙏🙏
@@KuoSketch If you do a Loomis series Fun With a Pencil and Figure Drawing for all it's Worth are the go to. They are just very text heavy unfortunately.
Two things I learned are, One: there are no straight lines in the human body, everything is S-shaped, L-shaped and slightly curved. Yet, when you want to give your shapes dimension you can best do that by using straight lines as a beginner; because straight lines aren't ambiguous. And Two: there are no parellel lines in the human body. Everything is tapered towards one end. So don't draw your arms like they are planks.
i'd have benefited with using more straight lines as a beginner!! totally agree. thanks for sharing your tips :D

tutorial on how to make the brush you're using in the video?
>.< it's a random sketchbrush i downloaded years ago, i usually sketch with soft round brush, but i think the silhouette of this one makes better for tutorials than a simple circle.
Nice! Your video quality has really improved since the last one! I'd love to see a video on constructing the head as well
Thanks dude, i'll try to get a head construction workout video before the end of the year
Great vid! Love the included exercises and refs. Ive done the "pac man" exercise in the past but you showed a nice progression of how you can build towards it and beyond. Definitely have a knack for making conccepts understandable. Loved your other vids too, very useful!

Incredible quality and information, you deserve so many more subs!
thanks! i make these to get to interact with other artists, thanks for leaving a comment :D :D
What a nice video, it certainly introduces techniques that I haven't tried yet and I'm looking forward to incorporating some of their aspects into the way I draw eyes. A few critiques I have would be that there isn't enough emphasis on the planes of the eyelid and especially the connections to the nose and the brow muscle, which can impact how an eye looks a lot. I do approach drawing eyes from a construction perspective though so it might just be me putting too much emphasis into that aspect. I've mostly approached learning and practising by coping and mimicking Bridgeman and Hampton which is obviously a very construction based approach. Anyway it's a great video, the materials are incredibly appreciated, the sound is well done, the models are very nice, the sheets are useful and the demonstrations are priceless ✨
thaanks Mikuru~ i agree! probably the hardest part about drawing the eye is the way the eye socket connects to the nose-ridge. beyond simple constructions i tend to rely on actual references if i want to get it perfect. This is especially true since it's an area that differs WILDY between people ---- it could be relatively flat for certain people (Jisoo (Kpop), while for others it's deep and angled (like for Henry Cavil).
@KuoSketch that's very true, I mostly adjust the size of the planes based on feel. The deeper I make the shadows and the ridge tho more manly esque, the softer the more womanly esque. And if I like add the brow muscle and make it fall it's old esque, but yeah coming up with these is hard. I also rely on reference or just do these types that I'm familiar with, coming up with new ones is a challenge in and if itself. Luckily I can usually avoid mist of this construction by focusing on the shadow and where I want it to be to have the effect
Both avatars omfgggg
amazing
thanks! it was fun to do, thought i'd share it even thought it wasnt all that instructive
I LIKE ALWAYS SUNNY IT MAKES ME LAUGH
saaame!! watched it 8 times by now. i think this video is just an excuse to make an Always Sunny video-collage xD
Real confusion is the one the spelling of his name left on me. It feels as though there should be an E but there isn't. Then you get used to it until you see someone misspell his name and you start doubting yourself. Then you run into the word "bridge" and your whole world starts to fall apart. All that is somehow very reflective of my art journey.
haha that's SO true! to add to the irony is the fact that "e" is a silent one in "bridge"--- it's not like we pronounce "bridge" as "brijj-ee". When i type BridgEman, the "e" automatically comes out of my middle finger.... it's an erroneous overcompensation for my IQ insecurities to say "See!! i know that "E" is silent!!" when there's absolutely no "E" to begin with. 😔 It's the haunted phantom E.
I almost would like a Part 3 lol, you explained it quite concisely!
haha thanks, somebody actually watches these xD i recorded a few more characters for part 3 (or 4). RIght now i'm editing a video for facial expressions, but will be back to coloring after that :D
@@KuoSketch Looking forward to it.
Nice! I was getting more interested in this stuff and you already gave me an easy way to do it.
yey thanks! it's not the only way but this way you get familiar with allll the lil clipping/masking functions in photoshop :D
@@KuoSketch You're right, this the easiest way

thanks! trying to figure out a art-chat format :D hehe
@@KuoSketch i think its a good idea the amount of actual professional voices on youtube is lacking you guys have that and it seems like you are trying to present information from a different angle to not teach useless information. from this point on i think you guys mainly need too improve your speaking and delivery (maybe remove a few redundancy's from the script and it can really work)
Been looking for a video that explains bridgeman's anatomy and this is one of the best
yey thanks~ glad it was of interest :D
banger
xD thanks duuude
Have any tips or story from learning or reading Bridgeman? let us know in the comments! :D
Bridgman stan here, you're spot on. Some other things, he asserts (correctly) that the juxtaposition of curves, straights and other forms is the genesis of style and his work is one of the clearest at showing the mechanical structure of anatomy as a working system, as opposed to a still lifeless diagram. As an aside, in relation to the video itself, I think (in my personal taste) that the edits with clips from sitcoms was a bit overused/on the nose. Thanks for the video.
thanks for the support :D and thanks for the tip!! will definitely reduce number of (barely related) clips... i sorted forced them in cuz i's a fan xD
Learning actual anatomy is what helped bridgman art click. How much skill and control on the body.
He thinks the body as planes and which direction they go too and it's mind blowing
oh totally agree, that's a super important point... it's not impossible to learn anatomy from Bridgeman, but there are much clearer sources for that. i feel like Bridgeman is a much better suited to to learn high level design of the anatomy! thanks for the tip.
Interesting video. Bridgman is hard to study alone, especially if this is your first anatomy. Nonetheless I think his book are great gems and you could benefit so f much. I recommend not going through his books alone with a teacher. There is a great bootcamp in youtube from Marshall Vandruff in which he is deciphering all the essential drawings in Bridgmans Complete Guide to Drawing From Life. Strongly recommend, great teacher, amazing human being and it’s a hella fun bootcamp that’s like 16-17 hours. Hope this was helpful and sorry for my bad english (not a native speaker).
second this!! he's also super funny and chill
If you want boredom, watch how easily Marshall can make you yawn but, if you want to learn how to draw, watch Glenn Vilppu.
Which Vilppu would you recommend? he's got stuff spanning the last 30 years. Ionno for me i like watching Marshall he always make me chuckle 😂
DISGUSTANG😮😮 DIRTY💀💀💀
bro i need an ai version of you to be by my side as im going insane in this art journey
What reference set are most of those photos from? I have one with the same model from Obscura29 and I usually keep an eye for similar sets, but I don't think I ever came across that one.
it's a pack by "Mels Mneyan", all of their packs are great! there are also a few free ones! :D
@@KuoSketch thanks, I managed to find it. Yeah, they're great. They're one of my top 3 companies when it comes to reference sets along with GrafitStudio and Obscura29. I must have missed that one set.
@@MrBX5 i re-research reference images on AS every once in a while, more and more ppl are getting into the reference game, i feel like it used to be just the big 3-4 (obscura/grafit), but now there are quiiite a few more.
this is a great video. Commenting to boost the engagement
hurra~ greatly appreciated! comments are huge for these small videos ^_^
Hiii i found this video randomly and loved it! I also checked out your ArtStation I really liked how you paint aswell. Awesome job!
yey, so glad to hear that dude! I had a lot of fun trying to be creative with this piece of art philosophy. Made it mostly for myself as practice, i'm glad other ppl get a kick out of it too :D
What ? French academy drawing technique breaks images into straights. Charles Bargue drawing course was published in 1866. Bridgman at that time was 2 years old. I think this is kind of click bait and the other people you mentioned did already good job at explaining the essence of his philosophy.
Absolutely agree with you completely, but Also, both of those lines of teaching COMPLETELY embraced the traditional dogma in the final representations. Here is where our ideas diverged a bit: my point (which i explain poorly for sure) wasnt that "Bridgeman invented the straight line", but that he thought beyond the traditional dogma of the human form. personally i feel there are much bigger and glaring problems with my own thesis, but i love that your POV pointed out a clarity issue for sure. thanks for the diaglogue, it's my favorite part about making videos🙏 and good god i love the Moderndayjames one, so clear and succinct, and immediately practical. i'll try to get there with my writing one day i hope. (edit: removed awkward double negative in first sentence)
hot
🌶🌶 thaanks :D
Wonderful video, I have a better appreciation of Bridgeman now 🙌
thaaanks!! 😂😂😂 but epic fail!! i just noticed there's no "E" in Bridgman (title should be corrected now but all the text in the video will stay for ETERNITY!!! hehehe
Great video!! Thank you for sharing
thaanks, it was a super fun editing exercise :D
Referencing bridgeman, Reilly and hampton, great job🎉🎉🎉. Seriously helpful videos, the only thing that was maybe missing what the flow from a curve to a c curve of the opposite onthe other side. Refferencing hampton and his balancing monologues here. But you can only fit so much information in one video and I think you did great. Though i still have much to learn so my criticism isn't really from an educated point of view. Edit:grammar
thanks again dude! always the awesome constructive encouragements!! 😭 experimenting with short video formats, they're pretty fun to make but i had to cut maybe 50% of the video to make it down below 3 minutes xD
