Second Matabele War Part 2
In March 1896 the Matabele people rose up against the British South Africa Company's authority. This revolt was largely fuelled by the influence of the Mlimo, the spiritual leader of the Matabele. The Mlimo successfully convinced both the Matabele and the Shona people that the settlers, who numbered around 4,000 at that time, were to blame for various hardships experienced in the country. These hardships included a severe drought, frequent locust plagues, and the rampant spread of a devastating cattle disease called rinderpest.

    When the Griqua (a tribe of the Khoi) did have a few members who were of Khoi and Dutch origin. They left the Cape primarily due to the Spanish Flu. Their land and cattle were being taken by the Dutch. Over a period of time the Grigua interacted with the Namaqua, Tswana and Sotho when they settled in Phillippolis in 1821 till 1863. I am from Griqua Descent and know my history.

    When the Dutch came to the Cape in 1652 Khoi Tribes were at the Cape (even when Diaz interacted with the Khoi at Cape Town and in Mosselbaai in 1486) . These tribes include the Giriqua, Hessequa, Gonaqua furher inland and Namaqua further north. It is whites who brought Spanish Influenza to the Cape in 1731 that caused the Griqua people to trek from.Piketberg.

      @My_handsome_King 12 дней назад

      False. Basotho come from bafokeng of ntswanatsatsi, which is a stand alone clan that used to neighbor barolong. When bakwena(basotho) arrived at ntswanatsatsi they immediately recognized the bafokeng as superior. Bafokeng were given first honors. Bakwena even adopted fokeng customs such as the belief of ntswanatsatsi as thier birth place and initiation practice. Sesotho is made up of majority fokeng language. Basotho culture is mostly centered around fokeng of ntswanatsatsi culture. It's only through moshoeshoe and colonial influence that bakwena became royal clan of basotho, but actuality its bafokeng who are the important clan.

    Appreciate the effort. But this is a biased historical take which skipped tons of crucial events. Some of the narratives here are debatable, the trigger of the war wasn't necessarily based on a particular raid in Mashonaland, the details of the raid are exaggerated but I understand after going through some of your sources (clearly not a fan of Lobengula or his nation) that you're just sharing what you know. There's a Museum in Bulawayo that has rich history and evidence on all these things, check it out. I want to end but I can't but get over the fact that there's missing battles, the so called "bribes" which were in reality a plead by Lobengula for the settlers to not massacre his people. Eyy there's just so much 💔

    The poster puts several facts or arguments down in this clip to inform the viewer. Many people in the comments below make aggressive comments, yet only one or two state facts they base their criticism on. It is clear the poster only wants to provide information that appear to carry historical support. If you have different information, present it and educate. But keep your stupid comments like “ get your facts right - we are not mixed” to yourself. You must be a complete fool to reason that you are not of mixed descent if your ancestors include just about every nation south of the north pole. Of much more importance is are there missing bits of history in this short summary that is important? Is there incorrect information? Those are the things that viewers want to know. Not your kak pointless remarks.

    Die Genootskap van Regte Afrikaners was alles behalwe Boere. Inteendeel- hulle het glad nie ‘n goeie storie om te vertel nie. Hulle was in die bed met Rhodes en het - net soos Rhodes ‘n verenigde Suid Afrika nagestreef terwyl dit loodreg met die strewe van die Boere - om hul Boerrepublieke te behou - gebots het. Die idee van ‘n verenigde Suid Afrika het dorpel tot die moorde van 30000 Boervroue en -kinders gelei. Dit is ‘n skande dat jy die geskiedenis só verdraai.
