@@FairilyFiberFun bright aqua, berry crush, moss green, honey mustard, teddy bear brown, midnight blue and platinum, lol an array of colour but alas 2 more fleece to dye but I have run out of vinegar so on the wait for a few days xx

Did you say you need a respirator for this? The roving and batt turned out beautiful!
@ColorsofHopeCraftsASMR respirator or very good quality mask is needed for keeping your lungs safe whole working with powder chemical dyes. They are quite toxic and can damage the lungs
@@FairilyFiberFunYikes. I think I’ll have to stick to food grade dyes if I’m going to dye at home. But they can still look pretty, although maybe not as vibrant as yours or come in as many colors.
@@ColorsofHopeCraftsASMR you can still use chemical dyes as long as you wear some form of mask and have good ventilation and don't dye all the time like I do.. lol

It is years after you made this video, and I was brushing my cats and decided to find out how to make cat hair yarn. My calico has a great undercoat. She is a shorthair but has so much fur! It would make beautiful yarn.

Hi ☕ Yes, world of Wool's Shetland is a wee courser than most shetlands I have spun. I think it's due to the scour they use or how processed it is. 🤷♂️ A few tricks I've learned with the E-spinners is: 1- sitting cross legged I "wiggle" my feet as if im treadling.. this makes my mind think I'm at my wheel and it causes a slight rocking motion to calm the need to run about instead. 2- sitting in a chair I'll move my feet as if im treadling and it's all good 😊 mind doesn't know the difference while plying.

What does wet spun mean?
Wet spinning is a spinning method used with plant fibres or blends, mostly for bast fibres such as flax and hemp. When the fibre is wet it’ll be more supple and pliable, it’ll twistmore easily. That means it should be easier to get a thinner and more consistent single.

@ColorsofHopeCraftsASMR as @eddavanleemputten9232 said, wet spinning helps the flax fibers to take more twist and adhere to each other. Technically, you are supposed to use spit or a slightly sticky solution to activate the gumminess of the natural fibers so they adhere to each other and "glue" down the frizzy bits during spinning

I have brushed short, 2nds and 3rds. You have yo put abit of long er fiber in the mic to help hold it together. Good for felting
@@Cat-qz9tu short fibers need more twist to hold them together. Yes, mixed with longer fibers would be easier to spin and would create more of a halo on the yarn
How do you do those coils? I know you core spin it first. Is that how you spun my batts?

I haven’t gotten to the explanation of the catastrophe yet, but could you share a recipe for that cheesecake, please? It looks so much easier than any other ones that I’ve tried to makebefore and it sounds delicious. Condolences and good luck on whatever the horrible thing is that’s coming.
@naomikatepp absolutely! I love this recipe. 16 ounces softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 2 large eggs, beaten, one cracker or nut pie crust. Cream creame cheese and sugar together. Add vanilla and egg, beat on high until smooth, scraping bowl frequently. Pour into crust of yiur choice. Bake at 350°Fahrenheit for 40 minutes or until center is mostly set. For Lime, replace vanilla with Lime extract. Add a tablespoon or two of lime juice to the batter. It may take longer to bake fully

@sueb7103 thank you! It is called chain plying because you make giant crochet chains and let the 3 strands twist together

Your spinning is more consistent than mine is. I think that’s because I’m more used to spinning art yarn than I am used to doing regular yarn.

Are you using hot water at any point? Have you tried this with a fine fleece?
@@deejcarter2003 I am not using hot water at all. Any high-lanolin fleece will not do well with this method
