    I just got my first manual 2018 Wrx premium. I have 3 days and so for its been good. Im just scared to give it gas and engage to much boost while driving normal. Also people are always on my tail. And sometimes i accidentally downshift from like 4th to 3rd tryna go into 5th. I can revmatch and downshift fine still learning clutch control. Lol

    • @king2notorious
      @king2notorious 21 день назад

      Honestly man sounds like you’re killing it so far. It took me about a week or so until I was less nervous driving around the city. Remember those cars on your tail can always go around. Don’t rush anything and I’m sure before you know it you’ll be taking off as quickly as them. Remember the clutch is your friend and shifting from 4-5th can be tricky at first but you’ll get the hang of it! Maybe in a video I can to a tricks and tips for manual and include what I did to help me go from 4-5th without accidentally going back into 3rd (hard to explain through message)

      @king2notorious so far all i need more help with is slowing down at a redlight then it turns green what gear do i shift into or do hold the clutch. Or say somes turning in an alley i slow down do i start in 1st or 2nd. Usually the car starts to get jerky or bogs cause its not in the right gear. Other than that i feel like my self confidence is increasing lol.

    • @king2notorious
      @king2notorious 21 день назад

      So first gear is only there to get the car rolling, I personally only use first when I am taking off from a light or in a parking lot but even then sometimes I’m in second. When you are slowing down to a read light one thing I would do was let off the gas pretty early when coming into a red light giving me enough time for my car to engine break then downshift into a lower gear. For instance if you are driving in 5th coming to the light let off the gas early and once you see the rpm drop to around 2k down shift two third, you’ll need about 2k-2.5k rpm jump but having the car in third will prepare you to to take off quicker if the light turns green. If you are under 15 mph drop it into second so you don’t lug the engine. In a different case were you may have put the car into neutral coming to a stop but the light turns green, if you are 7mph or Lowe get her into first gear but if you are any higher then that drop it from neutral into second blip the throttle so the rpm’s jump then release the clutch and if done right it will feel like butter. You’ll get the hang of it pretty quick if you are already practicing down shifts. Take it slow when I first started out I thought I was the slowest driver on the road, it was true but I was also the most safe because I was driving within my capabilities with time that feeling will go away and you’ll be hitting boost with an overwhelming smile. Also if the car is bogging that probably due to the rpm being to low. Subarus love to sit around 2.5k rpm cruising so if your in any gear and it’s lower than that drop a gear. And if you take a corner in forth what I’d do for comfort it get around the corner first then downshift into a better gear to start accelerating, it’s better to be higher in the rpm bogging the motor causes a lot of unnecessary stress

    I am in my second week of learning how to drive a manual. I also got myself a BRZ. I went to the dealership and decided, "I want this," lol. I called a friend to bring it home and have been practicing. I've been practicing for the most part for 30 minutes each day. At this point, it's my nerves. For some reason, whenever I am at the stop light, my anxiety increases, lol. What I have been currently practicing at night is going into the empty parking lot. Now, I would hop on each lane, and my fiance would pretend to be the stop light and decide to stop and go. My job is to practice stopping the car and going without jerking and stalling. Then, we would go to the other inclined parking lot, and I would stop at the highest point. I would need to hold that and go. 😅 I can do them okay, but once I'm around other cars, my nerves start to kick in.

    • @king2notorious
      @king2notorious 24 дня назад

      I can relate with you on the anxiety that comes from other cars on the road. One thing that really helped me at first was watching the lights turn from green to yellow while I’m waiting to go, it would give me extra time to shift into first and start releasing the clutch by the time it turned green for me. I’m sure with time it’ll become second nature, keep practicing in the parking lots with the finance and if you can find a somewhat steep hill to practice hill starts (or turn hill assist on). Good luck you got this!

    • @SouthernCaliLimitz
      @SouthernCaliLimitz 21 день назад

      I feel you. I came from an auto to a manual wrx and just the thought of going somewhere gets me nervous lol. Only way to get better is to do it right. We slowly progress 🫡

    • @neometalx9
      @neometalx9 20 дней назад

      They say the hardest in manual cars is get the car moving from 1st gear, while that's one of the hard parts, controlling the clutch and gas pedal, I'd say that moving down gears is also not taught a lot by others... In city driving, there's a lot of corners where you have to slow down but not completely, that's where I didn't know what to do at times because there's corners taken at 3rd gear, the majority at 2nd gear is fine.. slowing down like you would at a stoplight doesn't work very well either because for beginners they tell you to just put it on N, release the clutch and brake like that, instead of downshifting where you can control your car better at any sudden change where you have to accelerate again, changing lanes and whatnot.

    • @chelzhi
      @chelzhi 20 дней назад

      @@neometalx9Thats what I have been doing as well. Like for now, I would plan my trips and know if the roads are harder to drive 😆😆

    • @king2notorious
      @king2notorious 20 дней назад

      Anything to take a little of the anxiety away while driving helps a lot! One thing I would recommend to help with clutch control is find a parking lot with speed bumps and put the car in first and drive over the bump, you’ll realize that unless you wanna go fast of the bump you’ll need to slightly push the clutch into its grab point while giving more gas so that the car will creep over that bump. It’s hard to explain through text but if you give it a try you’ll understand what I mean. That right there will help you find the grab point so much which in turn will make you more comfortable taking off from lights and so on

    Car looks dope, been looking at the new GR86 Hakone Edition and the BRZ Series Purple and its always nice to see people talk about what they enjoy about their respective model. Currently own a 1990 CRX and debating heavy between getting a BRZ(new or old) or sticking with getting my CRX upgraded and running smooth. Keep up the good work!

    This guy did so good on first time driving. My dad was shouting at me stalling it and I stalled it at the lights with people beeping at me. At first I had a lot of anxiety driving manual but now I can heel toe rev match downshift like the car is an extension of my body and it's a lot of fun!

      He a natural for sure, he's even better than me when I first started. I can relate to the anxiety when first starting out, at times I was like why did I do this to myself and get a manual, but in the end it was all worth it. Like you said feeling like the car is an extension of your body is the best feeling and now I can’t see myself buying another car unless it’s manual
