Snow In Georgia! Couldn't resist a little fun.
It rarely snows enough to amount to anything in Georgia. So, when it did, I couldn't resist taking the Talon out for a spin in the neighborhood. The roads were quite slushy but a lot of fun. The Talon made a horrible mess in my shop when it melted off.

where did you get the fronnt bike lift from? Haven't seen any of those that hook up into the bike like that
Hi, did you finish this project? I'm going to complete a similiar Climax build soon and would be interested to see some videos and inspirations of your final loco.
Had a lot of good times on the BB&W Good to see some of the buildings I built and or rebuilt ar still standing in 2021.. The Bellview station was a project. When ii delivered it it went in my trailer with 1/2 inch clearance to the back doors. Enjoyed the trip around .
Perfect! Very nice to see. What modern toy of today will still run over 5 years? Not to talk about 100+ years 🙂
How very true. They don't make 'em like that anymore!
I wonder if Cornelius Vanderbilt or James J. Hill bought their kids this set? You should consider putting a chip camera on the train for a crewman/passenger view!
Interesting idea!
I went straight through that hole coming from the other way, it is pretty deep almost all the way
Why is that man holding the side of the wood so weird like that?
He is just making sure that his hands are not in the way of the passing train while talking with a friend on the other side of the track. 🙂
hey pal, I'm going to continue my crusade against center drills for a second - if you want a starting hole for position and straightness you need to use a drill with an equal or greater point angle. You want the point to engage at the same time or before the flutes, not the other way around. I hope this advise ten years later is of use haha.
Thanks for the tip. I will consider it. 👍
@@shaynut6 Never thought you'd see my comment on your ten year old video so, one, hello! and two, I find screw / stub length drills are typically very cheap and serve this purpose well. Of course this isn't relevant for the op in the video, the drilled hole was only clearance for the endmill - but if you are trying to drill for spec or are reaming after, a stub drill half the diameter of the drill size will be a great help for tolerance! Good luck and nice to meet you.
Yes…it was at Boots’. It only ran for an hour or so one afternoon. I happened to see it and take a little video. Hopefully it will come and visit again.
Was that Boots RR? I was there for the Winter meet this year. I definitely didn't see that Shay run.

awesome
Thanks! I was pretty excited myself. :-)
Way cool 😎
Can I get a quick shifter for my 2003 r6
As far as I know you should be able to. I used one that plugged into my Dynojet Power Commander V.
Looks like so much fun! Why am I not surprised that you have hobbies/obsessions like this?! -Julene
Glad you liked the video. My engine/train is the small black steamer with the bright red caboose near the beginning of the video. Stop by sometime and we will get the engine out for a ride.
Wow. I just went through there Saturday 7/10/21 and it was a total slop fest. What your riding is dry 😂
You went the wrong way at the feeder. You should've turned left. You missed the best parts of the trail. They have it roped off now so you can't go the wrong way.
Doesn’t surprise me. I am good at getting lost! Thanks for the info.
Hello, nice to see hope that I can go back in December to the Big Boots & Western RR that I come from Austria
Glad you liked the video. The meet wasn't huge but we all had a great time. I think I may have met you at a meet in the past. Would very much like to have you come and visit with us again.
Dam boy That boiler is long Imagine this thing in 7 1/3 inch
Yes...it would be very large in 7 1/2" gauge (1.5" = 1' scale). Probably similar to a Challenger in size. This is the only one I've ever seen. We got the loco from a dealer in rare railroad collectables. Not sure who originally built it. I'm not even sure if such a loco existed in full size somewhere in the world.
@@shaynut6 i think it exested
Hey how did you put trought out the frame dyno jet sensor. And why I cant fit like you done? Mine same r6
Sorry to hear you are having problems. Not sure why though. The factory shifting rod passed through the frame as shown. I just "upgraded" it with different rod lengths and the Dynojet quick shifter and still used the factory rear sets. I have since replaced the rear sets and have converted it to the racing shift pattern (1-up, 5 down). I had to move the shift rod outside the frame to make that all work however. It is not quite as protected now but it doesn't interfere with anything while riding. Had to replace the Dynojet sensor since it was a "pull" type and it now needed to be a "push" type. The new Dynojet sensor can do either one so it is much more versatile.
Thank you for your 🏆🏆🏆🤗🙏
Hi shaynut6, this is an awesome video of your time off roading in Durhamtown. Especially during these times, this is an awesome way to safely get out and have some fun. We'd love to feature some of your content to help encourage others to safely travel around Georgia. If interested, you can email exgabluesky@gmail.com for more information. We look forward to hearing from you!
2003 Yamaha r6 I got to say one of the best and funest bikes I ever had. I actually have another one but not dumping money into more of a bang around bike it's still a bad ass bike looks like crap but everything works got it cheap . It was in a flood. Awesome video
The R6 is a very fun bike. My son has a Honda CBR1000RR but it is "too much" to have fun with. It will hurt you in a heartbeat. The R6 is much more forgiving and a lot more fun. Have fun and ride safe!

Yes....ready and waiting :-)
Are you ready for the 2020 Big Boots & Western Winter Meet????
I need help i have a 1972 dt250 but my motor doesnt have the reeds in the carburator does my 72 supposed to come with the the reed motor version
This is a great looking bike. But good lord this music is hilarious. I feel like i stepped in a saloon lol
This video feels like it was made in the early era of youtube, aroubd 2006 to 2011... its just like cyclecruzas videos which have never improved from their early 2010 vibe... some people never move forward i guess
Looks nice bro. What exhaust is that? I'm looking for a stubby for my 04 too.
Thanks! Am having lots of fun with it. The exhaust was a Coffmans shorty. I ended up replacing it with a standard length Yoshimura because it wouldn't meet the noise restrictions (104db) at one of the track day tracks I go to. Still sounds good but not quite as high on the decibel scale.
I would love to do something like what you guys did---traveling through a whole bunch of states and sight-seeing.
Beautiful! What a great time that must have been. I remember being at the Grand Canyon so many years ago. We would watch lightning storms happening on the other side of the canyon. I like all the train stuff too! Nice video!
Thanks for the info. Not to worry guessing its same as my coal and similar to anthracite. I've got a vid of my loco on my channel. Check it out
Sounds good. I have a 3.5 inch loco 0-4-0 but use anthracite and steam coal. What sort of coal is it and can you send a link to eBay?
Pocahontas comes from the vein in PA with the same name. Burns pretty clean. Is used by blacksmiths a lot. I found my eBay invoice from 2013 but seller no longer offers it. Seller (matchlessantiques) still has storefront. I'd look for a blacksmith supplier that might be close enough to pick it up directly. Shipping is very costly. Good luck with the search. Post a pic of your loco!
Thanks I use the Welsh coal now and some Russian mixed in. Do you recommend Welsh steam coal ?
Lovely engine. What gauge is this and what coal do you use?
Sorry for the delayed response. Just got back from vacation playing trains at Train Mountain. This engine is 3/4" scale (3/4" = 1 foot). The track gauge is 3-1/2". I bought a #50 bag of Pocahontas coal off of eBay. I don't run this one much so it should last quite a while.
Is coal beans at 22mm a good size?
I like the color of those rims. Did you repaint those are is that the original color?
I did not repaint them. The bike came that way. I think seller told me they were aftermarket along with the plastics.
I know 09rs6 has the same color rims guess there rare.
Were did you get the tricks at?
We buy the parts (rail, lumber for the crossties, screws, etc.) and then assemble 8 or 10 foot track panels using a jig to layout all the parts. Once we have a stockpile of the straight and curved sections we need then we can do the actual track laying you see in the video.
I am Big Boots and I like this video!
The tradition lives. 7500 ft. elevation here in Pine CO. Sunny. No snow on the ground. Short sleeve weather.
well how neat is that?
I have the exact same bike with roughly the same miles. Has a valve adjustment been made on that thing? I know it is recommended at 26,000 mi
I checked the valves when I got it and they were all within specs. Tough little engine!!
First
This is too cool! Nice to see it from the air and how big it really is. A great track to visit and run!
What an awesome video! That shaynut6 is pretty good at this stuff! Beautiful Track and lots of fun equipment! Will get to visit it one of these years!
Exactly what I was looking for, great vid. Thanks for sharing.
What trail are you riding at :55 into the video? I've never seen that one. @shaynut6
The way we normally get to it is to follow the trails that parallel the road all the way out to the hill climb location. Just keep bearing the right whenever you have a choice of right or left. Then just follow that trail down to the bottom lands and follow the creek bed. That trail is way out in the back (or at least if feels like it is).
That thing had some serious pressure!!! Thanks guys!
Dave-that camera is really good! Love the tracking shots as the drone is moving with the trains!
Great shots ..Thank you for sharing..
I'll have to head up to this track eventually. Need to get my GP9m done first though.
