Vafa Animal Shelter

Vafa is the first animal shelter in Iran that was founded in 2003 by Fatemeh Motamedi to take care of dogs who were sick or needed care. Before that, there was sadly no such institution in Iran.
Vafa is a charitable NGO, run by grassroots donations. It runs two animal shelters in Hashtgerd and Qazvin, housing more than 1800 dogs.
As a non-for-profit charity, Vafa has no links to any political or religious organization.
We aim to build a better world where humans and animals co-exist.
Cultural and awareness work, aimed at gathering support for animals, is our main method.

This dog was found with a metal wire wrapped tightly around his leg. The bone had turned black, and amputation was the only option. Afterward, he faced post-surgery complications, and finally, a month and a half later, after being neutered, he was transferred to Vafa with the shelter manager’s coordination. They named him Robbie. He seems a bit upset about being brought to us. Understandably, these poor animals often bond quickly with their rescuer, even in a short time, and don’t want to be separated.
