WOW! TV for Teachers - Group Work: Building a Roller Coaster
Where can I find access to the binder with teacher instructions? Thanks!
Seeing how you could turn Fusion 360 parts into CNC parts was really helpful, so we'll definitely consider doing something like this for this season. Thank you so much for making this video!
Our team was wondering how to mate parts in CAD, so this was perfect for that! It's good to know that mating parts is more time-efficient than putting everything together by hand, so thank you for creating this video! - Team 8642
That's cool. How did you make the triangle wheels? -4537
Robert LaFontaine take a look at our molding video on this playlist
This looks like a neat way to make parts. Where have you used this? -4537
If you look at our intake video you can see a great use of them
This video helped me get started with this software. I have it on my computer but I didn't really use it since it look really complicated. This video simplified things a lot though which is great because I am now more confident to use this software. -Team 8719
This was a very good video! I am a rookie member of my team and I don't know a lot about these things however this video really helped me learn a lot more about ADB. -Team 8719
Nice video! This will help our team have a better chance of getting the award this year. -Team 8719
This video is very informative! What makes Fusion 360 better than Solid Works and why? Our team is try to determine which CAD software to use this year.-Team 8719
We use both softwares, Solidworks is extremely good if you are creating assemblies, or anything with multiple parts.
What makes Fusion 360 better that Solid Edge and why? -Team 8719
We don't have any experience with Solid Edge, but Fusion 360 integration with CAM is unparralelled across CAD softwares, and is good for making individual parts.
What do you think is better, Solid Works or Solid Edge, and why? -Team 8719
We haven't used Solid Edge, but we have had a really good experience with Solidoworks, and would highly recommend it.
Thank you very much for the helpful tips on mating. Our question is, what CAD programs do you recommend if a team does not have a powerful enough computer for Solidworks? -Wildcard Robotics 18335
Fusion 360 is a good program, while it works great for making custom parts, it is very difficult to mate using it. Another program we recommend is Onshape, which is web-based and allows multiple people to edit parts at one time. (essentially a google docs version of cad)
Great video! Your design process seems really efficient and professional. Our team will try to use some ideas from this process in our design process this season. -Team 8719
Is scripting more powerful in Onshape or SolidWorks - 6133?
Hello! Most likely it would be more powerful in Solidworks
frick yeah - 6133
Also where did you buy the triangles? -6133
We designed a mold and made the triangle wheels out of silicone rubber using the process covered in our molding video. Go check it out!
What durometer are those triangles?
6133 The NUTS! We made lots of different shapes/hardness. In the video yellow is 10 shore, red is 20, and black is 60. We ran out of 40 before we got to triangles
This was great! In the past we have gotten the Motivate Award but in recent years we arent any more, so thanks for the tips! - 4537
2:54 you love to see it
What is a good baseline for everything that should be in the engineering notebook? -team 8719
Of course, as the season progresses, you would want to add sections covering different mechanisms on your robot, but a basic outline might include the following: Business Sponsors and Tiers Sustainability Budget Plan Marketing Future Team Members Engineering CAD Programming Strategy Maintenance Building (This is where your mechanism sections would be) Practice Log Outreach
How did you bring up the context menu to mate the motor to the plate?
0:55 love that
This is a great video! Our team will be able to have a better submission now that we watched this video! -Team 8719
I had a question regarding Soldering. After watching you guys solder, I've wanted to try it, but I don't think that I'm not experienced enough to actually try it so I wanted to get some insight from you guys. How long do you guys think it would take to actually learn to solder and manage to do it both efficiently and correctly. There seems to be a lot of finesse and precision as well as some heat. So I wanted to know how long it would approximately take to learn how to solder? - Team 8719
Finesse and precision are great, but we believe that practice makes perfect. Your fifth one will look great.
This is a great video to introduce this method! We 3D printing but we may try this this year. -Team 8719
I think without 3D printing, molding isn’t as useful. I don’t know where we’d find a mold for a triangle intake wheel if we didn’t print it ourselves.
Wow!!! This looks so cool. I've never done soldering as it's my starting years in FTC. I've never seen anything like this on the internet or anyone covering this topic. This is something that I'm going to tell my teammates about and tell them to incorporate it for our season this year. - Team 8719
Thank you for giving us an intro to Premiere! This is a great video to make professional looking videos for our team's channel. -Team 8719
Our team used ADB during our programming sessions. It was really useful. I highly recommend it! - Team 8719
I wanted to ask a question regarding Fusion 360. Where would I be able to learn more about Fusion 360 and the different commands and operations that you can do with it? I really love this software and want to keep using it throughout my FTC season. If I can find more tutorials about Fusion 360 and relations with FTC, I'll be really happy. - Team 8719
NYC CNC has a ton of amazingly helpful videos regarding Fusion 360's CAM, I have learned many good tricks from them. Another thing I personally do is once I know the basics of a software I'll just mess around in it and get to know things at the base level, so when you are introduced to more complex methods or ideas its easier to understand. Also feel free to email us at innovators3311@gmail.com for any specific CAM/FTC related questions! Thanks, Zephyr
Wow!!! I have never seen software that is this detailed and complex. But the thing is that you made something so complex look so simple. The commands that you are operating onto the FTC parts look similar to that of parts we are using on our robot. This opened my eyes to the possibility of making own custom FTC parts and making an all custom robot. Thank you so much for showing me this possibility and opening up new opportunities for the future. - Team 8719
This is a really useful video if you want to get inspire award as well because to get inspire, you have to basically be perfect at all the categories :) - Team 8179
Our team has been struggling with outreach. It is nice to have a video about Motivate Award. I really enjoyed this video. It was quite engaging to be really honest. - Team 8719
This video is doing a great job in educating rookie members such as myself to CAD. It's giving a headstart to us because we are learning CAD in our starting years and are able to build upon that in the years coming after - Team 8719
This is a great tutorial for soldering. Last year we had one of friends solder a wire for us before competition. Hopefully now, we can do it ourselves which gives us a lot of versatility.
I have never Soldered. This is super interesting. I have heard of other teams soldering and it is pretty cool. It is a simple and efficient way to solve wiring issues. - Team 8719
Thank you for this great introduction to Fusion. I am more of a SolidEdge and SolidWorks, but now I am started to think about switching to Fusion. - Team 8719
Fusion 360, while great at making individual custom parts and CAM, isn't very good with mating, so we don't recommend it if you plan on importing part and creating assemblies.
I have never used CAM software but this opened my eyes to something new. Thank you for this well thought out video. It is very useful for teams around the world! - Team 8719
This video is great for beginners in CAD. I think it captures all the important concepts of CAD software. These concepts can really be carried over to any CAD software which is really nice. Thank you for this really nicely put together video. - Team 8719
Thank you for introducing us to fusion. Our team is considering using it this season. Team -8719
I did not know that you could use mating to make things look better in Solid Works. This helps our team make our CAD look better. -Team 8719
This was an excellent tutorial! This channel should continue with solid work skills like creating parts and present them as they are essential to the robotics community and more specifically FTC. Team 8719
This is a very informative video! Since I am a rookie member of my team, this video helped me get started with CAD. -Team 8719
As a new programmer to my FTC team, I've always lacked the skills in the design area. By learning to CAD in SolidWorks, I am proud that I'm learning more skills in all sections of FTC and not limiting myself to just one skill. - Team 8719
I have been using SolidEdge edge for 2 years now, this video is making our team rethink out CAD of choice. SolidWorks seems very well-rounded and easy to use. Thank you so much for this video. I leaned a lot about CAD. - Team 8719
