Wind test 3m Slidewinder Shock Cord Whip
loved to witness this... never seen a 7300 in a car... hope to work you soon (maybe on 20m) as we are having the SRAL annual summercamp soon from karelia finland, and i need to make some contacts for my mobile/portable EGO. cheers, 73, OH8XAT/OG4U
Which frame do you have on the 7300?
Great video explaining the Slidewinder coil. ps. Not a combine harvester but a Bateman crop sprayer.....
I haven't used mine a lot, but a great tip. Thank you!
We replace the lead free of charge for the life time of the coil. So no worries.
Well then. That was some great advice. I'm inspired to purchase one of those coils and I can see from your demonstration that the matching wire is a point of weakness. Thinking I'll be replacing mine with a braided grounding strap insulated with heat shrink tubing. Thank you for sharing your advice. 73 de KF4LBG Larry
The lead is not a weak point & lasts about 2 to 3 years with constant day to day use. The video was simply about extending the life time of the lead further, But as all existing customers know We replace the lead free of charge for the life time of the coil. So it's not an issue at all.
Belíssima. Antena
Thanks. Useful tip. Excellent antenna used with the ‘screw together’ whip. A great antenna for garden, car and field. Best investment so far. Great results achieved with it. Phil - g0nik, Suffolk.
Thank you Phil.
what bands will it work with an atu. i am thinking about getting one for the car when parked up
www.m1ecc-antennas.co.uk/product/military-folding-antenna-manpack-7-sections
Used with our Slidewinder dx coil all the way down to 40m with no ATU
i have a tall car so will be looking to use an atu so i do not have to keep climbing up and down off the vehicle. it looks quicker to set up than the multiple antennas i have at the moment. thanks @@Tantalicdavid
@@wowsly An ATU Will create a big loss in the antennas performance, By tuning the coil you get a resonant antenna for each band & no lossy atu in circuit.
Loving the video! Keep going!
Thanks rob
"Promo SM" 😋
Great video thanks for the Information 👍👌
Will wd-40 affect the conductivity of used in the threads?
Not at all infact it will improve it.
What was your x6100 sitting on? I need to figure out how to get a similar mount for my car 🤔😊
I have the same car as Tony, Its a cup holder that pops out from the dash he just got it sitting on it.
Nice Antenna, but 57 seconds is not much of intro or demo. You might try and record a few minutes of QSO's, to let people see how it performs. Kind regards - 73's - EI5HYB
After nearly 3 years of selling the slidewinder dx products & loads of videos on here from other customers I think that proves its performance.
Awesome to see u out with Jake
I would have come to visit you! M6ZPS
👀💯👌
Can this be connected and be used by the military pineapple for their antennas? Also what bands does it cover?
It has a 3/8 24 tpi adaptor that can be unscrewed to reveal a thread size that fits military radios
There is another video on my channel about this antenna answering the rest of the information you have asked
Hi,looks great but surely at that height it would be almost omnidirectional so therefore no point making it into a dipole instead of a vertical?? Apologies if iam wrong .73
We did on air testing over a year ago & I can assure you this antenna is far from omnidirectional. Stations reported up to 3 S Points difference when we rotated it 90 degrees to face there station.
@Tantalicdavid thanks for clarifying that and definitely no offence intended.take care and 73
@@andy2E0JIU If you search our Facebook page You may find the post when we did the testing & comments from stations reporting back to us.
👍👍
Great job congratulation 73 from kb2uew
Some more information on this antenna would be appreciated, can it serve as a permanent base station antenna?
Primary use is for portable setups, I suppose it could be used at home as a a permanent base station antenna. But we would recommend you check it regularly ie to maintain it.
@@Tantalicdavid Ok, thankyou for the information, much appreciated.
Can you operate CW Full QSK with the MFJ (50ms delay)? Secondly I understand that the MFJ is rated for 200W. Is this realistic? I run an FT1000.
👀💯👍🙋♂
I use that Slidewinder dipole setup! On ft 891 . Thats so easy and works great !! 💎💎💎💎👋👋👋🍀🍀🍀🤝
Seriously considering this antenna. What are the benefits of the extender bar?
It moves the coil above the feed point so less interaction with the ground radials.
What type of connection is on this antenna
3/8 24TPI Adaptor
@@Tantalicdavid thank you so much . I just got a antenna and I trying to complete my yeasu ft-891 man pack and I was like how to I connect this antenna. Thanks again
So do in use an anteanna tunner for it to work for frequencies I want ?
depend on the setup. you need somekind of base to screw the antenna in and get your BNC connector out. some people are using an adjustable coil at the base.
Brilliant piece of kit very easy to use
How did you mark it
Can coil be left outside in wet weather
Yes 100% can be
@@Tantalicdavid would the whip snap in mild winds or is it resilient
@@Tantalicdavid could you use a springer whip on the coil base
@@T.M.G2014 Any antenna under 3m with 3/8 24 tpi thread should work But our Mil whips tend to be a best match to the coil
@M1ECC Amateur Radio Station of course, I was thinking of loft installation what I could use as a whip
What would be the best way to put this on a balcony or deck? I have a wooden deck that is around 10 feet high, attached to the side of the house facing the backyard area above the basement exit. The back door of the main floor leads out to it. Thank you.
Does it work in the rain, or would it short out?
Works fine in the rain.
Is this like the PAC 12 with the slider, considering 1 for a balcony installation, possible POTA or Field work.
This far out performs a pac 12
I have the full kit except the extension bar. Does it improve resonance/TX RX? Can they be securely joined together? Many thanks.

That is an great set up
I received one a couple of weeks ago, Red because it is faster :-) Only just had chance to play with it. Using a Tank Whip, 9 foot long. Very impressed. takes a bit of getting used to where to place the slider, not gone as far as marking it yet though. Thank you very much for a good product, just going to see if I can make up my own ground mount kit from my bits n bobs box.
This coil looks interesting to be sure. I am currently using a couple of Ampros for 20 and 40 which seem to work okay. It would be nice to get many more bands without the need to unscrew one antenna and replace it with another. What method is used to mark the coil for the different bands?

Is a ground connection required? Can I install it high and run a ground wire.
It comes with the 4 x 4.5m Radials it's not designed to be used up a mast, but can be used on a balconey
@@Tantalicdavid Is this height limitation because of its structure or distance from ground?
@@Markinpuff Its a ground mounted antenna system not designed to be up a mast. works best at ground level Please search here on RUclips & the internet lots of customers have put content out about their experience of the Slidewinder DX Antenna

Received my Slidewinder kit today. Can't wait to set it up outside when the rain clears.
👍👏👏
Excellent vid. Just waiting for mine to arrive. Should be here tomorrow.
Nice
When I used the MFJ 1979 I also got a excellent SWR on 20m around the same 1:3
Can't wait for this to be available again in time for Spring and Summer 2022 . 73 from M7CUN.
