shot tutorial trying to create a Lego effect as liquid.. i used mash for spread the Lego pieces on the liquid which was generated using fluid effect in Maya.. you can use any liquid plugin you wish, like real flow or bifrost ... this is just the concept of how to do that.

9:30 why in my maya, attribute editor didn't have mesh??
Mash itself is not a mesh, it is like procedural mesh, after you finish your setup you can convert it into mesh if you like
I wish I could like this video every time I come back to remember how to to this.

There's a switch right there to rotate the gear counterclockwise, hit it and it'll turn the other way and you can grab the ghost

Thank you so much for this tutorial, but I end up with my original shape with UVs and my skinned shape without UVs, do you know how could I solve this?
sometime the skinned shape can have two original object. you have to check it well and see which one is working.. and don't forgot to turn off (intermediate object) after you finish transferring. i hope it can help.. otherwise if you like send me your character i may try to fix ( zhr.nbk@gmail.com) :)

hahah thanks to you man.. i'm happy i created this idea.. actually it wasn't meant to be a tutorial i just did this small video to send it to my friend who had an issue with rig, then i thought why not to post it on youtube. some poeple would need it i didn' tthink alot of people would face this issue..

@@znbk5652 How do I reduce the size of a grain of rice? I can only reduce the size of plate. When the R key is pressed, the grains of rice do not reduced but seems to became a loaf.
@@siksup you have to scale down the grain before you instance it into the mash.. not after..

you have to remove all velocity settings and make them all zero.. so there will be no force.

Thank you a lot! i even transfered UV to the object with changed topology. I did the same but one exception: my objects were on the same place and i choose "world" not "component"
if you choose world. it would look at the same position of each point.. but if you choose component it would look at the id of each point.. you did well i'm happy i could help :)
Can't get the paint fluids tool to come up? For me it is just empty showing only the reset tool button and tool help button? Is this a plugin?
No it is not a plug in. I think u have problem with ur maya. In this case close maya go to my document and delete or rename maya folder and start maya again and let is create a default folder and try again.

after you click (Fluids->Add/Edit Contents-> Paint Fluids Tool..) if you didn't get paint attributes tool comes up then go to ( Windows->GEneral Editors-> Tool settings)
when we transfer the uv's from unrigged model to rig model , If the size of model are different ,it's work or not?
No size has nothing to do with attribute transfer.. But topology should be same
@@zhrnbk actually I rigged a model and skinning and now I am try to transfer uv's from non rigged same character but it's shows some error why?
@@shivamprajapati2861 try to reference the uv correct model into rigged one and keep both of model in the same spot above each other.. I mean both of them zero transformation. Then select the uv correct one then the rigged one then open attribute options and try different methods. The one which work find keep it in mind and then follow the video..

Thanks. Actually it is an old project for test.. U can use displacement and inside hypershade there is a node called snow u can use it. It is very simple.

Hey hello I hope it’s not too late to ask but I can’t seem to find the shapeorig of my object, it’s called “dresslower” so when I select it the node editor only displays dresslower of course and “dresslowerShape” along with initialshadinggroup, I tried selecting all three nodes and displaying everything connected to them but still no trace of the shapeorig, I need some help :(
R u sure the dress is rigged?? Otherwise it should give u the orig shape

@@belle7733 Listen. Try to fix ur uv before u do skin bind that is better but in some cases u may have to make ur skin before u fix ur uv.this method which i did is just for this case.. Skin before uv. But usually we do uv and texturing before we do skinning. So if u didn't skin the dress yet just fix the uv first it would be much easier.

Sometime u have to change the settings inside the transfer attribute. Try one by one. Honestly since maybe 2 years never opened maya. So I barely remember names of ome tools. Don't follow this toturla at the beginning just try to transfer the uv between the rigged WITOUT UV And the reference one with good uv BUT NOT RIG. And see which option could transfer the uv and then use it as this tutorial I hope u get what I mean

It is very old project. In that time I use maya fur which Is removed now. Xgen is much better I recommend it for u

is there a way to use a 3d model of a lego brick instead of a cube? The sim is missing the studs on the top
This way is the cheapest way as voxlize would give u cubes that won't interact with each other so u got free collision. If u want to have other shape then I prefer to use bifrost and try to instance ur shape. It can be hard but possible but so much heavy scene I believe

If I try this with the Malcolm 2.0 rig from Animschool nothing happens. The UVs stay the same. Also, there are 2 shapeorig nodes under the shape node on the part of the Malcolm rig I need to change UVs on.
I never used Malcom but I'll give it a look but for u if there r two orginial shape try to use both for now. Anyway I'll update u later
@@znbk5652 it's actually only on the upper body mesh that it doesn't work. It works fine with the eyes and pants. I think as a work around I'm just going to use a duplicate of the upper body with textures and use a blendshape from the rig to drive that.

actually, this is a basic training. or a concept of making rice, but if you want more professional one then after you do this way, duplicate the mesh you got and start adjusting them according to your camera
Maybe collisions can be detect and fixed with tools and modifiers in MASH? I don't know all powerful of MASH tool 8)
no, unfortunately, there is no collision option in Mash yet, but in new mash node ( world) there is one.. so maybe I'll try to utilize it for this purpose

if you have noticed that i locked the Base Resolution as first thing before i continue.. are you sure you didn't mess with it? usually it shouldn't disappear and even if it will. it wouldn't wait for few days
