KD didnt want to give term and big money to FA, cause we are in a rebuild. If we get to 70-75 pts this year and end with Vets (Dickenson, Mrazek, Donato, Jones) NHL ready at good value (Bedard, Vlasic, Kaiser, Reichel) develop this season future players in AHL and bring up after trade deadline or b4 (Allen, Nazar, Korch, Levshunov, Soderbloom) thats a win. (Bert/Teuvo/Anderson/Smith/Murphy have contracts or some value but they could be traded or kept and Hawks achieve objective this year. Everyone else on current roster is replaceable with better FAs next summer. KD has a plan and he is sticking with it.

I painstakingly watched that whole game. Ugh. The biggest waste of a player out there for the Hawks was Kurashev. He should have been benched. He had no get-up-and-go, no passion in his game. Most of the time he looked lost. He had one shift where he barely engaged a Wings player on the boards then a few moments later took out his own teammate and moments later the Wings scored. Never would have happened if he actually engaged the player on the boards and fought for the puck. If he was under the weather or hurt, then fine, but then he should have sat out. But he was horrible on that top line. Debating watching tonight or not. I am a glutton for punishment! Who am I kidding I probably will.

Ive been impressed with Mrazek all season, if Hawks actually play good defense and give him some help, the man can make some crazy saves, and I'm happy Soderblom finally got a nice looking win, he's been playing really well also and honestly id be fine keeping Soderblom in tandem with Mrazek and sending Laurent Brossoit somewhere else. I think rather then trying to up the offensive output, and instead the team focuses on being better on the defensive end of the ice, and not letting the opposing team have prolonged stays on that side of the ice, i think it would actually benefit them offensively more, and actually make this team dangerous and more consistent.

Yes, patience with propects. My guess is the guy is an NFL fan first where the guys drafted in the NFL play right away. With the NHL you draft wisely, develop players, but you never know till they get to the NHL. So far the Hawks prospect pool looks good. One prospect nobody talks about is Aiden Thompson playing for the U of Denver that has 15 points in 8 games.
