Between San Diego, LA, and the SF Bay area, the bay area has the best and more useful public transportation system in California. Let alone the US. BART did actually took cars of the road

Thank you for reviewing San Diego public transportation system! But, as someone who lives in San Diego, I must agree with some of the others who commented pointing out the fact that it's not as extensive and efficient as it could be.

While the transit in San Diego could be considered above average and better than most cities in the United States, I don't think that it is the best. That being said, the important routes in the network such as the Trolley lines and some bus routes like the Rapid routes and the ones that pass through the more populated urban neighborhoods such as the ones that go to the beach, or neighborhoods such as Hillcrest, North Park, La Jolla, etc have decent fifteen-minute frequencies on weekdays, which aren't too good but isn't that bad of a wait if you are patient. However, patiency is very important on the MTS. Claiming that transit is faster in San Diego is just false. It'll take at least an hour on a trip that would only take twenty minutes by car. Also, many corridors in San Diego are still underserved, and it is hard to get to many important destinations in San Diego on transit. On a hypothetical trip from San Diego International Airport to North Park, it would take forty minutes to an hour on transit compared to with a car. That being said, the traffic here sometimes does get bad so if you are really lucky it may be faster to take transit, especially traffic on the 8 or the 5. That being said, many population areas of San Diego are underserved, or have poor frequencies, such as those in the South Bay (Chula Vista, San Ysidro, Imperial Beach), East County & the rural communities in San DIego County (kind of reasonably underserved but its whatever) and many areas in North San Diego.

The San Diego Trolley is the most used light rail system in the US but MTS as a whole is not efficient. Because of the way routes and schedules are set up, it takes an hour and a half to get anywhere, no matter how far you're going. A lot of times it requires backtracking. If you're only taking the trolley, you might be ok but the transfer points seem unnecessary. Most of the time though using MTS requires both the bus and trolley as neither are extensive enough or run frequently enough to make them worth it which is why I finally had to break down and buy a car because spending over an hour commuting a distance I can drive in 15 minutes is just a colossal waste of time. I know it won't take the same amount of time as driving but it shouldn't take as long as it does. You were only traveling on a small part of the system near downtown. Try using it the way locals do to get to work and school from where they live. Bro you stayed in the hood LOL. There are way nicer hotels in Mission Valley. One reason the northeast corridor Amtrak is so good is because those are the only tracks that Amtrak actually owns. The rest of Amtrak's system runs on tracks owned by the freight train companies and Amtrak is second priority most of the time. In fact in CA, BNSF and Union Pacific don't allow Amtrak to run over the Tehachipis sho if you're going from LA to the Central Valley, you have to take a bus on I-5 to Bakersfield then transfer to another train. Also, double check your sound before posting. There are sections where you mic gain is so high it's distorting.

With all due respect, as a San Diego native, I don't think your video paints the full picture of how only south and central San Diego county has a decent public transit system. There simply isn't enough rail lines to get any decent amount of cars off the road. The main working centers, business parks commercial buildings, hospitals are mostly north. There is no Trolly access for 805 north and 15 north bound people. That is why only low income people ride public transportation because you cant go anywhere that jobs are located. Its like if New York public transportation only existed outside of Manhattan and the other boroughs had to drive if they wanted to get to Manhattan.

San Diego doesn't have enough light rail to make it viable.

I always ride this public transit system when visiting San Diego for Comic Con every year. Always clean and a fantastic service with friendly staff.
