Visit to Cromer, October 2024.
In October 2024 I travelled to Cromer to meet up with my cousin and his walking group. We spent two days walking along the coast of Norfolk, and then some of us did another half day walking, and my cousin and I visit Felbrigg Hall.

Museo Sa Bassa Blanca
Просмотров 2028 дней назад
September 2024. Whilst on holiday in Mallorca I decided to ride my hired e-bike to Museo Sa Bassa Blanca near Alcudia. I managed to track it down at the end of a moderately rough road and took a look at the portraits of royal children, a menagerie of granite animals, not to mention two golden statues - one of Ken, and one of Barbie.
E-biking to Cap de Formentor in Mallorca.

I spent just over a week in Mallorca in September 2024, near Puerto Pollenca, in the north east of the island. I hired an e-bike and set out to Cap de Formentor. Great fun. I recommend it. If you're really fit, try it on an acoustic bicycle.
Rudland Rigg and Baysdale Abbey by e-bike.

I decided to take my e-bike a bit off road and cycled up Rudland Rigg, on the North York Moors, to reach Baysdale Abbey. The abbey hasn't been there for a long, long time, and it was never an abbey anyway.
E-biking on Tenerife. Part 4. Los Gigantes.
Просмотров 506 месяцев назад
One day, whilst on holiday in Tenerife, I decided to visit some massive cliffs on my hired e-bike, at a place generally referred to as Los Gigantes. Dropped in at a couple of coastal towns on the way, and wiggled my way uphill to Tamaimo before whizzing downhill (mostly) to my starting point at Costa Adeje.
E-biking in Tenerife part 3. Los Abrigos.

I spent early March 2024 in Tenerife. Most of the time I was on a hired e-bike. One day I rode to Los Abrigos, dodged airliners coming into land at the airport, and ate some fish.

In March 2024 I visited Tenerife and hired an e-bike. One day I took it on the ferry to the island of La Gomera, and rode it up and down a mountain.
E-biking in Tenerife. Part 1.

I went to Tenerife and hired an e-bike and then cycled around the mountains and coast. I took a GoPro and clamped it to the handlebars. This is the result. Part 1 of how ever many I get around to.
Ride to Osmotherley, or, How not to visit Mount Grace Priory.

Another e-bike trip. This time to Osmotherley. Discovered how tricky it is to visit Mount Grace Priory on any kind of bicycle.
Ride to Bransdale on an e-bike, whilst filming with a terrible action camera.

Decided to take my e-bike out to Bransdale in North Yorkshire. Filmed it with a cheap action camera I bought two years ago, at least until the battery died. Should have spent a bit more.

Thanks to industrial action on the trains I get to spend a day in Newcastle, with not particularly hilarious results!

Plants and insects, June 2023.

I bought myself a secondhand macro lens, and stuck it on my slightly elderly Canon EOS 760D camera. After my gas meter was replaced, I had the remainder of the day to myself, so I went out, snapping every plant and insect I could find.

A visit to Aydon Castle on a very wet day in early May 2023. Not quite a castle, but more than a house. In almost continuous use from 1296 to 1966.

Terrific video thank you for sharing 😊
full of property speculators and druggies. awful place.
VALLEY FORGE was a space freighter that was sent out to space with the last of the trees and forests, only to explode with a nuclear explosion by the last crew member that killed the other crew, in 1971
Yes, "Silent Running" is a much underrated movie starring Bruce Dern (Laura Dern's dad) as that last remaining crewman on the Valley Forge. The maintenance robots Huey, Dewey, and Louie were very impressive, and this was 5 years before Star Wars. It's not clear to me why the Valley Forge was so named, presumably after George Washington's winter encampment during the American Revolution and site of a battle. No idea where the forge was. All the other freighters seem to have been named after national parks, or at least after the areas of Amercia from which the plants were taken. The plants on the Valley Forge came from the Florida Keys (or so Wikipedia says). In the 18th century there was a forge in Forge Valley, North Yorkshire. It was about midway between East Ayton and Hackness. Nowhere near the railway line.
Stayed in the camping coaches at Ebberston station On two holidays Excellent use of an ex station
Very well researched and interesting video. Thank-you.
Cocktail mentality, the Carlton...old punks die hard.
Burnley, the only place where you can get robbed for a keebab at midnight whilst wearing a pair of 150 quid Nike's but at least the toothless morons will let you keep your shoes to walk home hungry. This is a true storey. Anywhere else you walk home with cold feet however you get to keep the food.
Hi Richard! Big fan of your channel! I live in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S., and your videos inspire me take more walks! Happy New Year!
Very good both videos Richard your time was well spent and thank you.
Before the Malton bypass was built you could see this line as it crossed the river on the Scarborough road.
Best series I've seen, normally I never watch anything more than once, I am on my 3rd time watching detectorists, absolutely love it, everything about it, we need more series for sure
thanks very enjoyable
Very poor
Nice 👍 One Peace ✌️ be With You
Wow a trip to Burnley,
great to see the locations thank you
The A170 road to Pickering is a nightmare for traffic, even off peak. The closure of this line was one of the worst decisions of the 50s - 70s “train-ocide”.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that the station at Sinnington was never popular because there was a bus route that went through the centre of the village. This may have been a justification for closing it (not sure). Seems odd to me because the station really isn't that far away. The bus route is still there, but last year (2022) they came up with a cunning plan where every other bus bypassed Sinnington entirely (X28 bus). Seems like they have given up on that idea, but we now have one bus every two hours instead of one every hour (this even made Radio 4's Today program) and the Sunday service west of Pickering is now almost non existent apart from a couple of months in the summer. Used to have a decent Sunday service from Easter to the end of October. So much for local government's commitment to public transport. I do appreciate the £2 singles though.
Great video shame no mention of the famous pendle witches 😢 but again Great video..from a Padiham thick neck which is another good minners story 👍
so where was the show filmed? ?????
Most of it was filmed in Sussex, around Framlingham and Orford, although the fictional town of Danebury is meant to be in Essex. See this map: www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1dgbe2QPOiv8WvQSmxH_cEtbT5J8&hl=en_US&ll=52.11025018042435%2C1.4455802685845365&z=17 It even shows the location of the lunch tree, so somebody has found it!
The reason public houses were given images rather than names is because the masses couldn't understand english,is my thought.
Nice to see loads of places familiar from growing up there. FYI we always pronounced Wycoller as "Why collar" as in on a shirt.
Acting, writing, directing, music, pure genius!! Lance finding his gold made a 55 year old cry!!!
Thank you for the tour. I watched both seasons on Netflix and it's all unavailable now unfortunately.
Great video, surprised to see it pop up on my recommendations. I'm a local lad myself and my mum and dearly departed grandma have researched our family tree back a great distance and the Dewhurst side of my family are actually descendants of the Pendle witches, specifically Alice Redferne. There's a lot more to see and do around here. You should visit Towneley and Gawthorpe. You'll find some historical things around there but you have great walks across Cliviger, Padiham, Lowerhouse and more. I might add, locally we pronounce the village name Worsthorne such as the worst case scenario or Bratwurst. 🙂 I hope you enjoyed a nice Bene and Hot whilst here as Burnley has a real history with Benedictine. Have you been to Skipton at all? Seems right up your street.
Lovely to see some local sites there being a Burnley lad myself .👌🏻
Fantastic video, Richard!
Another well researched, edited & presented Ellingworth video which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I loved this series!
Fantastic, I grew up in West Ayton to the west of Forge Valley Station and the line went down the bottom of the garden.
Good job Sir, from an ex metal-detector! 😁👍🇬🇧 A truly charming series. ❤️
Ex metal-detectorist!
If The Archers was this, i’d never miss it.
I absolutely loved this series. Make more please.
Nice detective work tracking down all those locations!
Was it you who narrated The Clangers? 😄
Excellent. Thanks for that. I am British, I am a 'detector' <sic> and I live in Canada. Although I have heard of the series, I just found it on Amazon Prime Video! I binge watched 3 seasons in 6 nights! Hoping to visit Framlingham when I go to Detectival in September as I won't be far away.
Some scruffy tourists
Wonderfully interesting documentary .It seems sad all that infrastructure and workmanship now redundant. Would have been wonderful to see it in its heyday. It would have served all those communities bringing and transporting all its needs and vital to local life. Alas the bus and the car removed its monoply. Progess. Many thanks it was most educational
Thankyou for your holiday pics. Look forward to your more interesting railway explorations.
I noticed a lot of the station buildings did have 1st floor windows missing. Was this a result of the window tax?
Thanks for this video, l grew up in Nunnington and remember walking and cycling to Ryedale Lodge when it was an active station, l recall standing on that bridge watching the trains pass underneath, in the late sixty's both myself and mother waited on tables in Ryedale Lodge
I live close to Fram and went in all those pubs regularly and these places are my home. Great show!
Love PDC!
I believe there are many more stories that could be written for this brilliant series.😊
I really didn’t like that story line as Andy has a naturally good looking woman already who is smart and funny so why would he even entertain this young girl.
STALKER LOL
Why was Sophie not in season 3?
This is brilliant Richard, thanks for taking the time to visit these places. I love this series and just re-watched them all.
Were you a trainspotter by any chance ?
Will you do a video on the Malton To Pickering railway?
