Hello Deon, good to see you back, your Wheelie project looks like some excellent engineering. . I think your wire will work quite well because of the " strand winding" similar to electric wring, which of course is copper. The only place that would probably carry silver wiring would be a jewelry supply business especially for beading. . The metal from the cans looks great. I'm anxious to see the progress of the buildout Wheelie is definitely going to have some competition Up here in the Pacific Northwest I only have about a week left before I have to disassemble my model area and prepare for some end of summer guest. We rarely get visitors so that's OK, and as I clear up the area I can probably achieve more organization so getting it back together will go faster plus do an inventory . I'm studying various schemes for my Albatross and PBY, to see if I can work on both at the same time. So by middle of September I'll be back to building. . So Happy Modeling till then, I hope Chicken is well - he might enjoy driving your new Wheelie :-) Cheers Bob

I've decided to build it upon a smaller scale/ younger kid-friendly (I hope) cassis the "buggy Desert Truck Max Fox 1:24"" I will 3d print it, and I know someone for the puppet. But it be less authentic than yours or the real one, but probably more durable i print it in ASA (a strong outdoor plastic). My concern is that it shouldn't go to fast as in those video clips. But its pretty hard to find a car with suspension that's not so expensive either, the most work will be in drawing it in 3d Blender but I'm good at that, maybe i put a movie to on youtube, although I'm not such 'public' youtube maker. The shear size of the pieces on your bench is huge compared to the standard scale models,, ironically two of the parts look like they are the front part of Wheelie Yellows van. I suspect you are right on the scaling, in that they may be using similar parts for different models. There may be a relationship of the scaling to the aerodynamics of scaling the model for actually flying to match the forces just the model would reach in flight, compared to our 1/48 scale. However that's just a theory based on the fact that I've only flown ,049 engine size aircraft. Although the canopy shouldn't be that far off . A manufacturing conundrum. Ironically , this build reminds me of the movie " Flight of the Phoenix ". Do you plan to build any cockpit details ? I'm looking forward to your building this out. Cheers Bob.

In the ninetees I worked as a modelbuilder for TV and film, learned a lot of techniques to build fast and real looking miniature stuff. Then came CGI, but I never really left the model bench. A lot of times a truly accurate scale model of an existing aircraft will “fly like a pig” and manufacturers make design compromises to improve flying characteristics. And also they are designed with available power plants available and landing gear hardware when the kit was designed. Generally speaking one has to get around quarter scale before you can get equivalent aerodynamics out of a truly scale models. A lot of old plans show both the kit tail surfaces and the true scale outlines may be dotted outlines.

I always wanted to build the Top Flight Corsair. It's one of my favorite aircraft. I was gifted the Top Flite AT-6 Texan as a Christmas gift from my brother back in 1995. It's mostly built, but would need retracts and final finishing. I got into R/C airplanes in 1988 and stopped building plastic scale models. Twenty-eight years later I stopped building and flying R/C and went back to my first love of scale plastic models. Most of my R/C stuff has been sold off, but I have enough of it around if I ever wanted to get back into the hobby. The FAA here in the US has taken the fun out of the hobby for me, with their somewhat ridiculous rule changes they've recently implemented.

Very nice aircraft that you have there! I like the Corsair. But I love the Texan! Look forward to your next video!

I agree, the warping is not visible on camera.
