    Someone please explain to me about lumens. How is it that this is 160 lumens on high? I’ve seen people on other videos saying don’t use anything under 1,500 lumens. And there are cheap lights on Amazon that claim 9,000 lumens! Is it all just BS?

    • @calidomestique
      @calidomestique 26 дней назад

      Hi. Great question. This light is suppose to flash and bring awareness to other riders and vehicles that you are out on the road. Although it has a steady setting, it is not indented to be used as a riding light. When I ride, I use their 700 lumen light. And if you want 10% off use code syorke10 at Amazon amzn.to/3BDOJAV

    Nice video. About the battery capacity: It really depends on the battery quality and the design choices, but it is important to know that the closer your battery is empty, the faster it will be empty (or deliver less power due to more rapid voltage drop at the end. So what manufacturers do is either anticipate for that (show a 0% when it is actually at 10% for instance) try to linearize the curve which could result in, at full capacity underestimate the consumption (1.1 to 0.9-12m vs 45m) and on the other hand overestimate at low capacity (you could ride for 15m and this time it will estimate that you rode for 30m for instance)

    It's a must when upgrading your bike especially for beginner or who want to start cycling, it will help them to enjoy the ride and train them much faster by controlling their power based on their pace. Even though i'm usually ride in group ride but when the hill gradient is start hurting, i can stay on my pace and not chasing the group on the climb because of power meter. Then at the descent i can catch up by pump a little bit more rather than chasing the group then get smoked on the top of the hill and can't follow the peloton on the rest of the route.

  • @tysonkampbjj
    @tysonkampbjj Месяц назад

    IMHO a person would really need to decide what they're after. I'm in my 50s and retuning to cycling a year ago but I raced plenty from age 14-18 in the late 80s. I'm considering getting a power meter only to optimize my training to hit my fitness goals with as little effort as possible. I'm time crunched and I don't recover or have iron joints like I did 35 years ago, so the training needs to be optimized for that. When I was young however, I wanted to win races so I rode as much as I could and raced as much as I could, and that paid off a lot. I think for example a novice that wants to race could probably hold off on the power meter and should ride, race, and make friends in the scene and listen/study as much as possible for 1-2 years at least. One thing about all this data and chasing expensive gear: it can really ruin the simple pleasure of being on a bike and moving.

    • @calidomestique
      @calidomestique Месяц назад

      Well said. My fav comment by far. Ride to ride. Everything else will fall into place. I saved to buy my first road bike in 2010 for $1000. I didn’t even know what a power meter was or GPS navigation. I bought an odometer from Walmart just to track my distance. A lot is lost in technology, and like you said, it’s the simple pleasure of riding

    Watching this on my TV through a 5 speaker audio system and HOLY SHIT YOUR INTRO IS LOUD! That said, thanks for the short and punchy vid. I'm 49 and only just getting back on the bike. It's been overwhelming as so much has changed (my last road bike was a steel bike with downtube shifters!). I've had a fair few friends ask if I'm on STRAVA, and honestly... I'm so slow right now. I'm just trying to get some fitness back. Last thing I need is another way for people to stalk me (and in this case laugh at how slow I am!).

    • @calidomestique

    Shane, I'm doing group rides with road bikes. They're averaging, say, 15 - 20 mph. Would pathfinders increase speed? Also, would you get a new wheelset with a deep section? I love that I can go on dirt roads on my gravel bike if there's a section, then back on the pavement.

      Hey @eric_remias a gravel bike should have non problem achieving a speed of 15-20 mph. Pathfinders or gravelkings will definitely aid in reducing rolling resistance. I am running 47mm tires and a was passing road bikes last weekend without issue. A possibility to look at is getting a second set of wheels with road tires on it, but then your gravel bike will limit your gearing ratios. I’d say, but Tim in the saddle and everything will fall into place.
