Great to see Penn and Teller pursue careers apart from magic! But jokes apart, great presentation and insightful Q&A
Please make sure to enable the Closed captioning (CC) option while uploading the training vedio, It is helpful for us while learning new concepts.
Submission queues one for read, one for write ??? Is this correct. Everywhere it is mentioned core, load based.. If there is separate submission queue for read and write, then what is the NEED for separate read and write commands which are posted into submission queues (regardless of submission queue types) ??
Hello. I see that Windows 11 v24H2 removes the 64 MB HMB limitation. From the slide, do I comprehend correctly that Windows 11 v24H2 increases the minimum HMB to 1 GB or 1/64 of system RAM? If yes then what is the hard limit of maximum HMB in Windows 11 24H2? Thank you.
I'm on TV 9:45
Mike the man!
Woohoo
Would it at all be possible to see any of your tech go open source?
Awesome. I'd like to see this stuff advance even further.
Thank you Myron Loewen, For sharing your knowledge on I3C .
Stellar presentation! Thank you.
Is nvmeofcli.efi available for testing ?
Just a review from a guy the next door The person or the group of persons...whoever involved in making the NVME SSD... Nothing but mad love for you guys its a game changer for speed of PCs keep up the good work Love from INDIA♥🥰🌍🌎🌏
That’s my dad!
Good technology!! Let my ssd faster than faster.
Hats off to you for making this web hosting guide! Ive examined DreamHost and Bluehost, however Cloudways with TST20 c oupon is the ultimate cut price.
Cool that this is referred to as HINT. That's what we called it when we put it into the Apple stack in 2012. Is there a requirement that all super-blocks are the same size? That's not good.
Do you have any packet captures of what NVMe over fabrics looks like?
Hi All, For NvmeBase specification 2.0a, the Minute bug is there, In Opcode for admin command pg(156), when I select Set Feature, it will pop up the sanitize command. Thanks, V N.S.Krishna.

This is a dynamite video. The materials and the narration are just top notch. Thanks much.
Is this mandatory in NVMe 2.0?
Could someone please suggest on following queries 1. Any PCIe Gen 5 NVMe disk Model name/number for servers 2. Does all PCIe Gen4 / Gen 5 NVMe devices support NVMe Zoned Namespaces by default if we use supported kernel? Any specific NVMe Disk model you could suggest for servers that would support both ZNS and traditional namespaces. Any other latest feature to look for? Thank you,
Thank you for great talk.
can i use NVMe 1.3 instead of NVMe 1.4 ?
Great video Austin!
PЯӨMӨƧM ☺️
how do you overcome the TCP overhead and multiple sessions host and client syn-ack-synack related latency?
NVM Express®Base Specification Revision 2.0a July 23rd, 2021 - ONLY 454 PAGES :D
The NVMe 2.0 family of specifications was released on June 3, 2021
This seems to be a part of the Presentation, where can i find the whole talk ?
We are currently working with Zoned Name Spaces in University, and this was a brilliant talk on it. Thank you, very concise and clear
Okay, where can I buy a NVME 2.0 SSD? Search as I may, they're not showing up. I know a new controller chip is needed, and probably other improvements to realize the higher speeds, but surely there's been more than enough time for suppliers to design and build the new hardware? And do I really need one for a non-server computer?
Good information and the benefits of this feature.
:)
5:54 "Read head is narrower than the write head." 👍 Thank you.
Does the Zones in the SSD persists across the boot? If yes, how does that work ? And under the Zone, there are LBA's grouped so does that work for Key/value unstructured data ?
Very well articulated!!! NVMe is also being adopted by Hard Drive companies, so very soon there could be NVMe Hard Drives. This will enable to have a homogeneous NVMe/NVMeOF protocol for storage.
So as much as I like technical details, I didn't understand much of what was actually being done. And the nvm website link didn't easily show a way to understand this. Perhaps you could add more pictures and illustrations to this video, or a link straight to one for important updates as it would help us understand what is actually happening. Also... how do I get NMVe 2.0 on a current drive? Maybe I missed it but will there be FW updates? Will only new made drives allow this?
Without trying to be condescending, the intended audience of these videos is for those who solely work with the technical spec; NVMe as a specification just doesn't resonate much with consumers. You cannot get NVMe 2 on a "current" drive; the specification has to be supported by hardware (unless the hardware has a way of being flashed by an OS, and thus "could" get support for things like the KV protocol by firmware patching).
@@bartpelle3460 Hey fair enough! I am just wondering how on a social media platform where lots of people can find this, why it wouldn't make that clearer? With the way they structured it being a very short video, it seems more an overview to the public (this vid got recommended to me actually). But I didn't hear one time they made that super clear other then the lingo that it was meant for devs as it were. Being a tech person myself I try to make it super easy to follow along even on more difficult topics. But anyway just an idea, since they broke it down the changes maybe meant for devs etc. why not go one step further and take 20 seconds to note that this is meant for future drives? There is ever growing use of NVMe drives even in consumer space, why not have a less-technical overview at least at some point? But thank you for answering my question!
@@Frizzy9000 That's a legitimate question for sure, and I couldn't answer if I tried... I think it's just lack of awareness that the video could've reached those who aren't directly working with (or implementing) the spec. Still though, if you're a tech person, you might find it interesting to "read" the spec; it won't all make a lot of sense but in my opinion this is one of the less "mumbo-jumbo-filled" specs in the industry. You'd be surprised at how much you can understand!
Great 👍
28:00 the overhead here is mindblowing ! great presentation.
Great comparison between the hot technologies. Highly recommend to datacenter folks
Amazing, do you want to promote it on my channel?
hmm
It’s amazing how much information has been condensed in this presentation. Thanks!
