I completely agree, Hawai'i is home to Hawaiians. It is an illegally occupied kingdom where Native Hawaiians are disadvantaged and their 'āina destroyed every day by a government and billionaires that do not care about them. I call this place my home because it is where I teach at several rural schools, where I speak 'ōlelo hawai'i, where I help Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders access social services and funding so their 'ohana can thrive, where my mother works to provide healthcare as a nurse to chronically ill kūpuna, adults, and keiki, where my husband fights every day in two jobs to better rural healthcare access on every Hawaiian island, and where I teach 'ōlelo hawai'i and mo'olelo to my students while I and many other community members fight to open a Hawaiian immersion school in our rural area. I do my best to avoid negatively affecting Native Hawaiians by living off of catchment water and solar energy, growing my own food, supporting local beef & produce growers as well as local meal makers, fighting to protect local sacred sites from imminent development, and educating everyone I meet about Hawaiian history and current injustices in any way I can. And of course I'm learning more about both of those things every day with fervor. I plan to pass my home down to my children, or sell it to a local family, never rent it out or offer it as short-term housing. I chose an area in a low lava zone with little housing options, no home insurance offered, where development has little effect on the environment & does not affect the appearance of the natural landscape, and where there are no sacred sites nearby as the land has been recently created by the volcano. I am not kanaka, and I wasn't raised here. I do call this my home, and I'm hyperaware of the fact that it was never my home first. I completely hear your concerns and anger. I share them often. And I fully respect your opinion of a native on this land, with a rich history of kūpuna before you. I would caution against despising people you've never met, and know nearly nothing about.

Mahalo! We got them from Lowe's, but Home Depot also has. They go out of stock often, so we had to keep checking to order them once they were in stock.
