Rod and I began our journey through Angola in the Iona National Park. I was not that keen on Angola as a whole due to the challenges of finding recent information about camping etc in Angola but man was I wrong. We experienced stunning landscapes within the Iona National Park - the vast fields of welwitschia plants and stunning mountains. Rod and I travel to South Luangwa National Park and then onto North Luangwa National Park in August of 2023. We discover that the roads in Zambia are really scary and that travelling any distance takes a lot longer than one would think. We enjoyed our trip and treated ourselves to the luxury of a tented camp at Samara Camp on the banks of the Mwalesi River.

Tracy, Frans, Rod and I had planned 2 days at Mana Pools. It took us 3 days to get there from Kazangulu . The last part of the trip was on the road to Chirundu which is a major goods transit route - it was rough. We enjoyed our time at Mana Pools with its fabulous elephants and spectacular trees.
