A walkthrough of my HO scale model railroad depicting the south end of the Clinchfield Railroad in the 1978-1980 era.
Beautiful layout and the scenery work is outstanding!
@@N-scaleHousatonicRR thank you!
Beautiful work Sir! The devil's in the detail and you have plenty of that ! SO many trees and blended beautifully with the backdrops to make outstanding scenes. A lot of work here and countless hours to make a fantastic layout that is a pleasure to view. Cheers , Gregg.
@@FishplateFilms thank you!
Beautiful Railway!

Thank you for an excellent article and work on your layout. ❤❤❤
@@CrazyBob1357 thank you for watching.
@ always my pleasure to watch a great layout from you .
Amazing
Best handling of a tree line backdrop I have ever seen. Fabulous scenery. Perfect roster. Brent, you have done exactly what I was trying so hard to do back in the '70s in HO scale.
P,S. State of the art back then was Athearn blue box. No one had figured out how to make an SD40.
I knew the Clinchfield well and this is it!
I have spent countless hours railfanning this exact area in the era you are modeling! For me, this is like a time machine trip back to those pleasant years. Splendid job of capturing place and time! Very well done; in fact, SUPERB.
@@346UNCLEBOB thank you!
This layout is fantastic, but the video is not, especially the music.
Hope you're operating every week like the Sue Line 😊

@ClinchfieldModeler-e2u looks like a fun railroad to operate. All the best.
A very spiftacular looking layout sir great video!!!

Its a shame you dont have any trees on your layout....LOL Fantastic layout!!
Wow, such a beautiful layout and interesting operations! Hope to see more videos of yours soon!
Fantastic layout that never seems to end ☺ All that greenery, the beautiful details - a truely wonderful scenery! Subscribed.

Looks like a great session, fun ops in immersive scenery!
Nice…love the scenery and the SD40/ F7 lash up…
Thank you!
What is the upper RR/route crossover at 0:30?
It’s the SCL ex-SAL branch to Rutherfordton.
Lovely scene!
Beautiful layout. Love how the trees 'blend' into the back scenes. Really gives depth to the layout. Amazing work! Liked and Subbed! Cheers, Andy
@@Shelvington thank you!
I painted some standard nose SD40T-2 models for a guy in the early 1990s, as well as 2 SD60s as a what if.... actually the clinch field was to get SD40T-2
Very impressive . Great work
@@JBG1968 thank you!
That is a great layout. I can tell you went to great pains to make sure the power and rolling stock were period appropriate for the pre-Family Lines area. And the Allegheny Midland 50’ box is a great shoutout to Tony and Allen. My mid-70s layout does include an Ohio Southern coal hopper, as a nod to the great modelers we read about in MR and RMC!
@@ricktopeka7981 thanks for watching. As the AM and V&O were big inspirations, I can’t help but include some rolling stock from those railroads.
Really cool. Where did you get your backdrops? You blended them well with your foreground scenery.
Beautiful scenery and backdrop blending. Nothing compares to modeling the prototype and you really captured the look and feel of the Clinch field railroad. Well done. 👍
@@EarlChoate-h5d thank you!
Okay. That's it. We're all getting out of the hobby now. Except for Brent Johnson, that is.
Brent, masterful, period correct. One suggestion, wire up your telephone poles. That's alot of trees, any room for more houses, kids playing, town stuff. Great job.
@@KStone-w5n thank you!
Fantastic layout. Beautiful! Would be great to see this layout in operation for an operations session. Thanks for sharing!
@@ATrainGames thank you. I will be posting some clips from a recent op session soon.
Very nice. At least it's not looking like a spaghetti bowl of tracks !
This is an excellent representation of the south end of the CRR often ignored by rail fans and modelers in favor of the Loops and the end from Erwin Tennessee north.
Great three-dimensionality to your layout! So often missing. Most modelers forget: railroads are flat, but the earth isn't. Excellent viideo too.
@@keithludowitz9637 thank you!
Ran across your video and showed it to the wife. She said it is very cool because it looks like an actual railroad, and I need to do the same thing…!
@@2011Maynard that’s a good woman!
Having spent many a weekend in the 70's and 80's along the Clinchfield, I say you are spot on! Especially Marion/Clinchcross.
@@Shelnjeff thank you!
Awesome work - your backdrop blending is phenomenal

Wonderful shelf style road. I don't have the space you have but you have given me a lot to think about. I am building a point to point road and hopefully it will be my last. I am 76 and have been in modeling HO for the past 60 years. I had to subscribe to see what more you have.
@@davidcurtis5398 I’ll have more coming. Thanks for watching!
The quality of your layout is amazing it is so realistic that I had to check myself for ticks and poison ivy. Amazing and thank you.
@@steve20015 ha! Thank you.
I grew up not far from Spartanburg. I really miss those grey and yellow diesels. As I kid I loved driving under the bridge where the yard crossed SC9/Pine Street when mom went shopping at the old K Mart because I could often see the diesels at work. It's all different now. Ever since MR did their version of the Clinchfield back in the 70s, I wanted to model the south end. Just never had enough room.

Fantastic layout and scene setting. Very realistic and natural.

Love the focus on long, single line railroading with minimal buildings and cities, etc. This looks so good. It's what I want my N Scale layout to look like. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
