Просмотров 1,3 тыс.5 дней назад
V1E27: In this episode, I finally make it back into a massive mine site that is only accessible by a narrow overgrown trail that's deep in the heart of the Pacific Northwest mountains. I had an idea of what to expect going in, but I didn't know just exactly how massive this site was, and what secrets it held. Lost historic finds, breathtaking views, and surprises abound in this backcountry adve...

Просмотров 6912 дней назад
V1E26: In this episode, I follow a high climbing mountain road that I've been mapping for awhile now. I discover a few unknown/unmarked mine prospect sites, and find the end of the road, but this time it isn't blocked by a gate. The views at the end of this one literally can't be any better. Follow along with me in this incredible high mountain road adventure as I continue to Explore the PNW. #...

PNW Exploring: Returning To The Snow-Covered Mine Site
Просмотров 12027 дней назад
V1E25: Adventure is afoot! In this episode I go back to the mine site that I found in V1E7. Despite it being almost July, everything is overgrown and green. With all the snow gone, I thought I would be able to see the site better. Little did I know just how much it has changed in just 5 short months. Follow along as I search for lost history and cool finds in the backcountry as I Explore the PN...

Very nice!
Thanks man! I went out while we had that cooler weather. Even got about a gallon of huckleberries! So win win 😎👍🏻
We were at this site this weekend too, and explored the workings. I’ll have the video up soon. Great shots with the drone!
No way?! I’ll have to check your video out! Thanks for the awesome feedback 😎👍🏻
Where is this?
I mostly explore in North Idaho and some of Montana.
RUclips started recommending me smaller channels, and im glad to find this one! Enjoyed seeing your corner of the world
Thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciate it. I post once a week, so feel free to check back in if your still interested 👍🏻
Hell yeah! Travis was just here too! Great place to explore!
Yeah it is! I can’t believe how big that site is! It’s unreal
Great vid! You did it justice. We gotta go for a field trip up here soon.
Heck yeah man! I did an overnight camp this past Saturday and am working on the video now.
Keep it up man. Have you checked out any of the old ghost towns in north idaho? There also pretty cool.
Thanks for watching! I haven’t checked those out yet, but I’d love to! I feel like there is so much hidden in the backcountry 😁👍🏻
Beautiful view! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks my friend! I’ll try to keep finding more! 👍🏻👍🏻
Hell yeah it is!
You probably recognize about every spot and mountain view. That’s the best part of us exploring the same areas though! We can recon areas for each other
@@ExplorethePNW Exactly!
What is a portal?
A portal is a horizontal entrance into a mine. (Think of a tunnel for a car) A shaft is usually vertical or at a sharp angle into a mine. (Think of an elevator in a building) There has been/and still is a ton of mining around where I live and explore

@@ExplorethePNW and its cold in summer?
Well they go deep underground and usually have several vents so it causes airflow to blow out the opening. The snow berm in front of this one makes its colder as well.
I'm gonna be up on that peak in my next video!! Last year someone glued a gnome like that on the dobson well, I chucked it off the side of the road lol
I’ll have to watch for your video! I’m stoked! 🤣 haha! They must be multiplying! Lol
This is a very functional dad edc , I dig it, the super tinker is a great knife,
Thanks for the kind words! I’m a firm believer in using what you have. I’ve loved the super tinker since day 1. Feel free to stick around for more outdoor adventures and gear reviews.
Love to walk a beautiful road like this.
There’s nothing like being out it nature!
Did some bushwhacking to an old mine site here in idaho recently. Found an old jar from 1919. Difficult hike but a beautiful excuse to see more of this great state.
That’s awesome! I love finding stuff like that. Keep getting out there and exploring!
Nice 👍
Thanks! I love getting up in the mountains and exploring. Feel free to subscribe and follow along for more of my outdoor adventures 👍🏻
This looks and sounds so picturesque my friend! 👏👏
Thank you so much! I appreciate the feedback. I try to show as much as I can of the beautiful landscape. Feel free to subscribe and follow along on my outdoor adventures 👍🏻
That's actually very peaceful. Glad I stumbled upon this video 👍
Thank you so much for the kind words! Feel free to subscribe or check out my other outdoor videos and shorts. I post frequently and there is a longer video out every Friday. Thanks again!
Super cool! You’re gonna have to take me there some time!
Can do! It’s not far at all from where you and I usually go, and the hike is only about a mile in. We should get out next time you get a chance 😎👍🏻
love it!
I can’t believe how green everything still is! It’s been a mild summer so far that’s for sure
So beautiful love to live there
Thank you my friend! I am very lucky and blessed to live in such a beautiful place. Feel free to stick around for more outdoor content 👍🏻
That cliff side hike had a definite pucker factor with it!
Yeah it did! Apparently you can follow it up to view a glacier but we didn’t go that far. I’d love to go back to Glacier. It’s beautiful 😲
Bs
We’ve had a really mild spring so it’s still up top and on the shady side of the peaks. Hiking isn’t for everyone, but I enjoy it. Thanks for watching and feel free to check out my other content 👍🏻
What did you find? Don't recognize.
It’s a gated mine entrance (portal). They put what are called bat gates on them to keep people and larger animals out, but it allows bats to fly back and forth. A portal is a horizontal entrance (like a tunnel you drove a car through). A mine shaft is vertical or at an angle (like an elevator shaft in a building).
I saw this yesterday!
Isn’t it awesome! That road is cool how it just keeps climbing up and up 😎👍🏻
@@ExplorethePNW I didn’t get as far as I wanted to up there but it was amazing! I went way up the road before that one and found a couple new mine sites
Really? The one RUclips short I posted showed a cool wooden building I found pretty far up there, but it was on the road where the vehicles are.
Kpow
It's a hook-up spot for gay-bigfoots. (He'll be waiting till nightfall)
There are old mining sites all over the area I usually explore. Feel free to follow along if the outdoors or old historic sites interest you! Thanks for watching
If bigfoot was gay he'd be extinct lol
Let's go bat gate exploring . Oh and plant some marijuana seeds around the mouth of the bat gate.
Most of the mine portals in this area have gates so they are all over the place. I just enjoy finding them and looking for the sites on old maps. I’ll let someone else customize them 😂
Rad man! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
What exactly ḍo you think you've found? A "bat gate"? WTF is that? At this point i just cannot share your enthusiasm. Jett
It’s gated entrance to a mine and the bat gate is installed to keep people and larger animals out but allow bats to fly back and forth. Some of my content is based on finding old mine and historic sites. Feel free to check out some other videos if that interests you 👍🏻
So you found a tree? There’s lots of them especially pine trees. I don’t get it.
You must’ve missed it. There’s a gated entrance to a mine (it’s called a portal) behind all the new growth trees. Some of my content is based on finding old mine and historic sites. Feel free to check out some other videos if that interests you 👍🏻
@@ExplorethePNW like a portal to hell? I don’t watch haunting shows.
Haha no. It’s a mining term. A portal is a mine entrance that is accessed horizontally (think of a tunnel you drive a car through). A mine shaft is accessed at an angle or vertically (think of an elevator shaft in a building).
Go inside
Ha! You’re braver than I my friend. 😂 I don’t go into any of the mines I find. I’m a firm believer in the “Stay out. Stay alive.” motto 😎👍🏻
@@ExplorethePNW these are old mines? Even better. Just get a gas detector
I just enjoy finding the locations and researching them off old maps. I’m not the guy to go exploring in them lol. I’ll save that for someone else. Besides, when they have a gate on them, there is usually a good reason they don’t want people in there 🤣
Truly hope you don’t get ate by a bear or mountain lion deep in the thick woods alone like that.
You know when there is wildlife activity in a den. Usually there is a feel to it.. he isn't putting himself in any danger. Plus he is wearing a pack most likely containing something to protect himself
Thank you for looking out for me. I appreciate the comment, I really do. I never go into any of the mines and/or portals I find. In this instance I made plenty of noise well before I approached the portal (in case there was something in the brush or in the area). Also you can usually smell right away if something has a den. It’s VERY noticeable. Feel free to subscribe and follow along for more adventures!
Thank you for the comment and backup 👍🏻 I definitely do not put myself in danger. It’s not worth the risk.
Awesome! Good to see you out exploring and finding cool stuff!
Heck yeah man! You, @dirtcopdualsport, and I gotta get out this summer!
Man it looks as cold as it is today out!
It was fairly close to it up there. Minus the rapid thunderstorm with hail we had today 🤣
Glad I could share with you!!!
Heck yeah man! I really appreciate you. I always welcome your skills and knowledge of the area! 😎👍🏻
Love that shovel!
Haha thanks man! If I end up swapping it out, it’s all yours 👍🏻
This is so wild and cool!
Thanks my friend! We’re right in the middle of the spring thaw where I live, so these type of small waterfalls are all over the mountains.
Rocks, old cut timber, old old car. Dude, the mine came to you
Right?! It was another awesome trip out! I’ll have a 2 part video coming out on it so, so feel free to subscribe and stick around for more!
@@ExplorethePNW You live in beautiful country out there. God Bless
Thank you my friend! I am very blessed. I appreciate the kind words.
I live in idaho. What area were you in? Looks cool
I don’t like to give specific locations. I usually explore in the panhandle and Montana.
Then you have my ass that would go to investigate and probably find a corpse or some crap.
Probably not in this instance lol. It’s a 50+ year old car. IF there was someone in it, the animals would’ve gotten to it long ago.
@@ExplorethePNW I knooooow, it would be bones. But it would be my luck 🤣💀
🤣 when your out exploring you gotta think positive lol
I love finding this kind of stuff! Also that shirt is sick!
This is on the road above where we went snowshoeing. I want to go back and try to get up there by it 👍🏻 Haha thanks man! 🤣
@@ExplorethePNW I thought that might be where it was! I've never been on the upper road before though.
Yeah the app didn’t show another road higher up, but I’m wondering if it’s so old it’s not listed. How else would the car get that high up lol
Seeing stuff like that is awesome and the unknown story behind it just makes you wonder
Exactly! It’s clearly a car from the 50’s or 60’s, so over 50+ years old. The remote location of it too is probably one of the reasons why it seems “preserved” 🤣
Shaft is vertical, nice find
True. My friend helped me track this one down. 👍🏻
I'm surprised the gate is still there
Thankfully where I usually go there isnt much vandalism. Some portals aren’t even blocked off.
Sasquatch wanted in
He would’ve cleared that gate no problem 🤣
They're called tailings...
My friend works in the mining industry. He said that tailing piles are much smaller/finer rock. Waste rock piles are just the rock that’s hauled out to get to the veins/deposits.
Take the glasses off....
I usually always have sunglasses when I’m out exploring. Especially in the winter. It helps me from having to squint all the time 🤣
Your up lighting creek past the wash out.
I don’t think so. That creek name doesn’t show up nearby on any of my maps or off road apps.
Beautiful place to head out to!
It really is! I love snow, but I’m excited to be able to get into the backcountry. I’m sure you can tell where I’m at in just about every video 🤣
Looks like a great place to take someone that needs to suddenly trip and fall while tying their shoes.
Nah. I only take people out with me that I know and like 🤣😂 The views are always spectacular!
Is that in Clark Fork or Sandpoint Idaho ???
No. I am usually out exploring in the panhandle or Montana
@@ExplorethePNW Clark Fork is 60 miles from Canada and 8 miles from Montana. That's as much of the panhandle as you can get. Lake Pend Oreille.
Gotcha. No I haven’t explored that far up. I hear it’s pretty up there though
Great format, been enjoying your videos
Thank you so much my friend! I really appreciate the feedback. Feel free to let me know how I can make it better 😁👍🏻
Maybe the loggers built the road and took the trees out, to make a vista for you.
😂 I don’t think I was on their mind when they we’re up there, but I sure enjoy it every time a vista opens up 👍🏻
god damn i wish i lived in the US 😭😂
Thanks my friend. I am lucky to live in such a beautiful place. 🤯 Where do you live?
