Specialized Turbo Vado SL 4.0 EQ Review 2024!
I'm going to see if I can buy some land and build a track in my city I have to find out from a lawyer , if the state even allows it, if not I know what a ride you can always ride on the railroad tracks
I know nobody's going to stop, it's just going to cause them to get in accidents, why doesn't someone invest and buy some land and build a track is enough of you people out there that have money like a place that builds the bikes wake up do you want to lose your business what do you want to make it better build a track to keep them off the streets
If I was in California I will get the one that goes 75. Or 80 California should be building a track for them to ride on
I don't know how they're going to catch an 80 mi an hour bike or a 70 a mile an hour bike that doesn't make noise
I'm back because I just thought of something everyone is not going to want their bike taken or a ticket so they will run and then people will begin hurt once the cops chase them
I think throttle kids like to pop wheelies. Where as pedal assist not so easy
The whole throttle thing is so dumb. Like if you don’t want people riding “bikes” at 28mph, fine, but allowing it on pedal assist and not on throttle is just stupid. I don’t see any rational reason for that. It’s not like it’s any easier to brake or control a bike at 28mph when you are pedaling to maintain that speed. (Also there is no rule that suggests the bike has to make you pedal hard to go 28mph.). If you want people to have M2 licenses to go faster than 20mph and less than 30mph on a “bike”, I can at least understand that. But then don’t carve out a stupid exception for pedal assist, and make the M2 endorsement something you can get reasonably get using that sort of ebike/moped without having to get on a full on motorcycle. (I should note that if you have a class C drivers license, you can get an M1 by just taking and passing a CSMP course, and then just taking the completion form to the DMV… they should have offered a similar program aimed at higher powered bikes along with these changes).
New laws cost the state billions of dollars this is why it on fire that and homelessness
Is a trike a bike?
@@GodfatherSnook Lol, yes they still consider it a bike
Thanks 🙏 "The right of a citizen to travel upon the public highways and to transport his property thereon, by horsedrawn carriage, wagon, or automobile, is not a mere privilege which may be permitted or prohibited at will, but a common right which he has under his right to life, liberty and the pursuit ofhappiness. Feb 24, 2022
I saw that coming. The guys who ride this bikes maniacs.
2026 Full Cover Insurance
They just can see you win. Instead put the same energy fixing The Water Reservoir for Fires; summer around the corner which means more fire.
With so much other stuff happening in California like homeless people living on the streets, fires that took homes away and they mostly worried about people using ebikes? smh
@@imezryou2002 Yeah, it’s strange timing with the horrible fires going on in CA. That is definitely the most important issue to deal with, I feel for anyone who’s been impacted.
Wonder if splicing power and adding turn signals to an Ebike is going to fall under illegal modification? ( i prefer hand signals but for those that dont..)
@@GarudaDrgn00 I bet it would into the illegal category as ridiculous as it sounds. I just hope everyone continues to ride and have fun responsibly. We can’t let anyone ruin it for us. Thanks for the comment, I have 2 addition videos on this subject if you’re interested in checking them out. Thanks 😎
Thanks for the review , I like the removal battery
@JuCarlos-ex8ip You’re welcome! I really like the removable battery too, it’s very handy, and I wouldn’t buy an e-bike without that feature. If you do buy an Aventon, please use my link, I have several more videos on The Aventon Soltera 1 and 2. Please check them out if you’re interested. Thanks for sharing 😎
Go up to the court .. we have to start fighting for our rights .. we keep allowing them to get more cash and take away fun from us smh
This video tells me this is an opinion video and not one based on actual reading the law...🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
The law is written to target manufacturers not end users. It is meant to stop the manufacture and sale of bikes like Suron/Super73 etc as "e-bikes" - if they want to sell their products they have to now sell them as mopeds - which is what they always were. You will not get a ticket for owning historically compliant bikes - the law has no language about rider enforcement or ant fines defined in the law...such a misinformed video in its entirety...read the damn law first...
@@triaxe-mmb I have several videos on this subject, please check them out for all the information you need to know about the new laws, I encourage you to share your thoughts on them 😎
1:07 wrong historical definition... It has always been ambiguous...the intent of the definition previously if read as written and interpreted as ladder between classes, then a throttle wasn't allowed... You are also misrepresenting the law's changes...it isn't about users, it's about manufacturers....
@@triaxe-mmb Thank for the comment, I will continue to report the information about e-bike laws 😎
Not sure I’m sold on E bikes, they are not fast enough to operate with cars, to fast for riding the trails with people walking and biking, really comes down to, safety??, lots of selfish people out there, to much I see someone walking and the rider doesn’t slow down, seems kinda rude
E bikes are ruining some areas. Law enforcement doesn’t want to take the time to figure out what bike is banned and what’s legal so it’s easier to just close trails to bikes.
@@michaelgnafakis430 I hear that, there are a lot of people who ride irresponsibly, and ruin it for logical people who simply want to ride responsibly. I understand how it’s easier in some cases to just close certain areas off all together.
Imo, beyond 28mph, the bike should be considered an electric motorcycle. The motor power, however, is another thing. Someone who lives in a really hilly area will be overloading a 750w motor on a regular basis. My plan is for a bike that can easily pull a 100lb trailer up a 8% grade but be regulated to not assist past 20mph.
I think the claim that tickets would be given out as a means of generating revenue is a mistaken assumption. California (like many other states) prohibits enforcement agencies from receiving any portion of the fines assessed for driving offenses. This is done to reduce the corrupting effect of passing out tickets to fund the enforcing agencies operations.
All that law means is that an e-bike that goes faster than 20mph is a moped.
@@pogo1140 pretty much this. I just filled out a REG240 for my “moped”, and as soon as I get my plate, I am perfectly legal on it given that I have an M1. The new law is basically just clarifying some rules that already existed that draws the line between a “bicycle” and a “motor vehicle”.
@@pogo1140 Well you can still legally ride an electric bike up to 28 mph on pedal assist, and I’m ok with whatever term people like to use to describe the bike after that 😎
Lol, just wait until they make you get a vin and pay registration. That's coming very soon.
Class 3 E-Bike another name for Electric moped. If you are cruising on throttle on a bike path and not pedaling at all, you are not exercising; you are cruising and you belong on the road. You are not a cyclist, you are a moped rider/owner. You should be riding with traffic not cyclists. I am a cyclist and we often see E-bikes blasting down the bike paths weaving in and out of pedestrians and cyclists, creating a dangerous environment. This law was created because of those riders. It is a case of a few bad riders ruining things for responsible riders. But let's be real, many with class 3 modify their bikes to go even faster than 20. They should be classified as electric moped or scooter, require lights, and a plate, and a license. And they should be for on the street only, not bike paths, sidewalks or anywhere else they share a lane with pedestrians.
@@DerekBBBBB I totally understand where you’re coming from. I personally ride a class 2 bike, and very rarely use the throttle. If I had a class 3, such as the Ride1Up V3, I would ride it the same way. So although the throttle gives me the option to solely use the throttle and be lazy, that’s not the way that I ride personally. I’m personally ok with people using the throttle at a reasonable speed, not everyone’s goal is to burn calories on an e-bike, although mine is. Many people use them as transportation, and also ride them at a slow pace. I don’t support the people who ride like idiots either. Thanks for sharing, and please check out my new videos on this subject 😎
Sounds like California needs more revenue instead of cutting services to illegals.
California lawmakers are just doing their part to make normal everyday law-abiding citizens criminals. Because as we all know the law system loves criminals! And besides this law only affects people that are contributing to the system. You think a homeless person is going to pay a fine? Good luck with that!
The kids are the ones who made it hot for everyone. No helmets, no mirrors, no lights, they follow no rules and they wheelie all over the damn place. Now everyone else has to pay... They should have to have at least a permit and be minimally 17 to operate a class 3 ebike. If not they lose the bike..but banning a throttle for everyone is ridiculous. I use a throttle because I've got a terrible back and the Doctor says I cannot pedal at all.. I had major fusion surgery on my lower back and it's not good for me. I abide all the laws and wear all the proper gear including helmet, brake and signal lights and never ride on the sidewalks just on the right side of the road. And I stop at all red lights... But these kids all over the roads doing wheelies is ridiculous.
@@bornwitpeace9542 I agree, if everyone was riding at least relatively safely, and just used common sense, we wouldn’t be dealing with this. I knew we were heading in a bad direction when Surrons because the new rich kid bike that everyone had to have. Thanks for sharing, and please check out my other videos on this topic aswell 😎
@stkyfngez I sure will..Much Respect! Subscribed!
@@bornwitpeace9542 Thanks man!! 👍
This law was made by people that know nothing about e-bikes and probably never even rode a ebike. Also there’s politicians probably doing this for their financial benefit and political advantage. California is the big state pushing the Green Deal bullshit and I guess they rather have gas bikes on the rode now. California has and allows driverless cars in the rode ! WTF those cars are dangerous. CA is just a F’d up state ran by F’d Up people.
Don't mind the ruling as I prefer class 2 ebikes at the moment. I think 20-25mph is plenty for most cyclist, once you get class 3 the bike gets heavy or short range. I feel for the weight and range might as well go to electric motorcycle if you don't want to pedal. Just got to be experienced to ride class 3 safely. Your baseline experience should include riding analog/class 1&2 e bike.
@@jasondelarosa5457 I agree, I mainly ride a class 2 bike, and I think it would be good if riders started with analog/ lower powered e-bikes. Unfortunately some young kids are starting right out of the gate on a Surron, riding recklessly and giving the e-bike world a bad name. Most adults I see riding e-bikes, are pretty responsible, but most kids don’t have that maturity yet.
I have a ecells dual star generation 1.....it has a 1500 watt motor that peaks out at 2500 watts it goes 40 on throttle alone.......funk da police
@@yodubba That sounds like pretty sick bike Yodubba, it would be cool to get a visual of that. Please also check out my other videos on this topic, I’m continuing to add new info on these laws as it develops, thanks 😎
ALL "e-bikes" that have a throttle SHOULD have regulations inposed. Pedal assist ONLY "e-bikes" should be the ONLY ones that are allowed for normal hiking/biking trail use.
@@skiMTB Thanks for sharing SkiMTB, I appreciate your perspective. Do you ride any E-MTB’s or mainly analog? I like a variety of different style of analog and e-bikes myself. Please also check out my other videos on this topic, I’m continuing to add new info on these laws as it develops, thanks 😎
@stkyfngez i ride 2x clas1 and a class3
@@skiMTB Nice, one of my favorite e-bikes happens to not have a throttle. I really like the Specialized Turbo Vado, the new carbon frame one is awesome, the only problem is that it’s over $8,000. Do you favor any brand in particular for your style of riding?
There are steep hills in San Diego where I go 30-35 mph with no peddling, no throttle. Speed limits are 40mph. How would this play out? I'm expected to ride my brakes on the downhill? I no longer ask "what's next" in Corruptifornia.
@@a_jablome That’s a good point, and I love riding fast down hill like that, I feel like it’s the reward for having to climb those hills! The e-bike crack down is getting more and more ridiculous by the day. Please also check out my other videos on this topic, I’m continuing to add new info on these laws as I get it, thanks 😎
The speed limit parameters on the bike definitions all limit what speed the bike motor can provide assistance up to. If the hill is helping you and not the bike motor then it’s fine.
Should be 750 nominal, not peak because of real life physics. Think of energy output from yourself when walking versus running. You need both energy levels. Unsubstantianable peak power when running and infinite nominal power when walking.
Look at that e-bike. It has a thumb throttle. Something CA doesn't want the rest of us to have. Are they going to get rid of their own bikes too?
@@Westcoastguy Lol, for real, a thumb throttle and a top speed of 15 is just too dangerous for CA to handle 😂
I just read that class 2 ebikes that require helmets is only in Marin and San Diego county, so some areas might not require helmets if your over 18
@@fishsauce1 Ok, that may be the case. I am seeing conflicting reports on all this stuff. The one good thing about that, is that you ever get in trouble, you can argue that the general public is confused about the e-bike/other bike laws in general
But a non-motorized bicycle can pedal over 20mph all day long and teenage bicycle gangs doing wheelies on oublic roads and blocking traffic is okay. Governments can't pass ex oost facto laws. Current ebikes should be exempt. Also, the right to travel has never been overturnes bu the Supreme Court. There are no laws in any State rewuiring you to register your car with the DMV or have a "drivers" license to travel on the public higheays.
@@MyUtubefreak You’re right, I completely agree. The crazy thing is that New York is very close to passing a law to require license and registration. I hope it doesn’t happen, but things are moving really fast against the e-bike community right now, and nobody seems to be stopping them. Anyways, we all just gotta keep riding 😎
A motorized bike can pedal over 20mph on human power and be legal as long as the motor isn’t assisting you beyond 20mph. If you can get your ebike to 30mph on your own pedaling, that is legal. Also the kids blocking roads and doing wheelies are not legal either. And if the cops enforce the new rules with the same tenacity as the old ones, nothing has changed anyway.
Pretty sure my state isn't going to follow California law much at all, in fact we say don't California our Texas
can you still ride a bicycle or e scooter , skateboard without a helmet if your over 18?
@@fishsauce1 From my understanding, you need to wear a helmet on all electric forms of transport. Non electric bikes and scooters, don’t require a helmet over 18. That is the way I understand it. I’ve got 2 more videos on this subject and more on my channel, please check them out, thanks 😎
Good! I don't think an e-bike with a throttle should be allowed on rail trails or any bike path.
@@chrismaxny4066 I respect your opinion Chris, I have 2 additional videos on this subject on my channel as well. Thanks for sharing 😎
Here in California, class 3 has always been pedal assist only, no throttle. Minors under the age of 16 are not legally allowed to ride a class 3 ebike. It has been this way for over a decade. Not new law. What is new is that no child under 12yrs old is allowed to ride any class1 or class2 ebike. Any ebike that has a motor that can peak/max over 750w and/or assist assist by throttle over 20mph can no longer be sold/marketed as an ebike in California. I have ebikes the def exceed these new laws and im not happy with these new implications of the laws. Im am merely pointing out the the base of the law has been in place for over a decade. Most officers are not going to bother you unless you are blatantly doing something very stupid. I live in Sacramento, the Capital city of California. I ride a lot in our downtown area heavily trafficked by city police. I lanemsplit all the time even between police cars and they just wave or say hi. Once in awhile, they may even comment on how nice my beach cruiser looks(have a 1000w bbafang bbshd) or my E-cells 5star(1500w hentach hub motor). Im not zipping and swerving around cars or people so they dont have concern over my actions. If you dont do stupid shit, police have bigger fish to fry. Just got to know how to play the game.
truth. cops here said they won't bother me unless i'm doing a wheelie in traffic. i had a few beers one night and went out on a 9pm bike ride. im sitting in a park, alone, lights off and i see a dude walking very fast towards me in all black. i assume its a robber, so turn bike on, cut the light and the second he's within 50 feet of me i bounce. not sure if he said stop, please or police, i will never know as i got the f out of there. got home, and not even 30 seconds later a police heli went by so i think it was the latter.
If they are going to regulate e-bikes they need to regulate cars. They shouldn’t be allowed to go over 30 miles per hour. What joke. Our cops have better things to do. Our government is a joke. I’m not going to abide by these new laws for e-bikes. Newsom can kiss my ass.
@@dennisbrown3652 That’s a great point, why is it that a street legal super car has the ability to go well over a hundred miles per hour, yet we are limited to 20 mph on throttle?! It’s so ridiculous, but thanks for the comment, and if you’re interested I have 2 additional recent videos on this subject. Thanks 😎
@ We need to come together as a e-bike community and have a protest for e-bikes in every state and protest against cars nationwide.
@ Let’s do it Dennis, I’m in 😎
Cars are regulated, they have to meet state vehicle laws, be registered and require license to operate on public roads.
@ That’s true, and there are a variety of reasons for that. On the flip side you can still legally buy a super car wit an insanely huge motor, although with e-bike you are regulated to 750 watts maximum. In addition many people who use e-bikes as a car replacement, due so because they can’t afford to pay for things like license, registration, and everything that comes with it. I see both sides 😎
The US Supreme Court has accepted a case of Ohio & many states that are suing the EPA for allowing CA to dictate regulations to car manufacturers. IMHO, this should also implicate CA trying to change the ebike classes of bicycles. In CA, I need no license, registration or insurance to ride bicycles so no papers required if pulled over. A search warrant would be required to sesrch for a throttle to see if it works or what size hub motor my e-bicycle has. It's a 750W continuous motor that peaks at 1200W on starts & steep hills but drops under 750W when cruising. That is legal & it would be theft if some cop tries to steal my bicycle.
@@stevecumming6427 Very very interesting Steve, you definitely know your stuff! You’d be a great e-bike lawyer! I’m definitely going to look into this. Thanks for watching, and sharing this important information. You’re the man 😎
@@stevecumming6427 this is the dumbest thing I’ve read all week
@ If you are serious about looking into this I'll give you a lead. It goes back to the late '60's. California had smoky skies and lots of air pollution. Federal regulations and a lack of enforcement at the time were considered insufficient to deal with the perceived problem. The CA legislature created an agency (The CA Air Resources Board = CARB) and passed legislation to try and reduce air pollution. No other state had done this before. CARB did research into the health aspects and technology to monitor air pollution and possible ways to reduce it. When the EPA was created (under Nixon) other states were prohibited from passing their own regulations but since California had a head start and more experience and knowledge than the feds did at the time, California's authority to pass regulations and enforce them were grandfathered in. This has been tested several times in court and so far the situation has stood. I worked as a part-time student assistant in an instrument testing and repair shop at the CA Air Board when I was in college in the mid '70's.
@stevecumming6427 it implicates no such thing. It's just a fantasy in your mind.
Great now the figured out how to pull bicyclist over.
Leave it to California to come up with something Stupid..Most ebikes are limited to 20 mph with throttle..You get higher speeds with Pedal assist and pedaling..
I see this as a battle over MUP use. I am pretty much okay with a 20 mph limit on separated bike paths. IMO, PEV makers and users need to recognize that pedestrians are intimidated. Please don't turn 'car brain' into 'bike brain'. On-street bike lanes are a different animal. There are so many times you have to dive into car traffic because there is a mail carrier/cop/garbage can/garbage truck in the bike lane, that the ability to seamlessly dive into traffic at a similar speed enhances safety.
@@reinori8322 I agree, I personally ride a class 2 bike, so I’m only hitting 20 max. On the flip side, I do realize how frightening it can be when walking and suddenly a powerful e-bike comes flying by. I agree on the bike lanes too. They are great in theory, but they are constantly being blocked by different objects (I rarely see those people being ticked). I would like to be able to hit a decent speed when I need to keep up with traffic, and then cut the speed way down when I’m riding closer to other bikes/pedestrians. Thanks for watching my video and sharing your thoughts 😎
The bike is way more unstable peddling @ 28 than throttling at 28. Someone is gonna sue the shit outa there asses after a major accident.
True I ride all the time and yesterday I lane split between to Anaheim cops, they relley don't care lol 😂come know guy, thanks for the info ,but no one's cares about the laws 😉
@@fireman227100 lol, I hear you, dude. Many people may not be affected by the laws right now, but with talks of license and registration, speed cameras, motor limitations etc. it could eventually catch up to you someday. Hopefully not, keep riding 😎
This is why I still have a regular bike and I have an E Bike too. I dont wanna get too use to a good thing. Because Big Brother will suddenly pull the rug from under your feet. For some stupid reason
@@Kayakmiami I’m with you Kayak, I like to alternate with a regular bike too. I don’t want to get out of the habit of riding a regular bike either. If e-bikes get overly regulated, I’ll just switch back to a regular bike for the most part, at least until they try to ruin that too!! Hopefully not, thanks for watching 😎
