I don’t know why, but this scares me very much. It’s by far the scariest animatronic ever made for a movie.

Idk how some people think this shark doesn’t look scary, it’s 10x scarier than an IRL shark

Bruce did not look real. He didn’t move in a realistic manner, nor did he swim or bite the way a real shark would. Also, he had a very “snub” nose as opposed to the long, pointed missile-shape of a true great white. But don’t get it twisted. He is terrifying and still works as a prop that scares people because rather than looking like a real shark, he looks like a “nightmare construct” of what a shark could be. All of the most frightening aspects of a true great white are rolled into this animatronic prop from 1975. Pure nightmare fuel.

The tail fin stuff was really missing - seeing it in action here is great

What makes me sad is, in the 12 years between the original and The Revenge they couldn't recapture the magic that this animatronic marvel brought. 2nd movie reused the original mold, but some wise guy thought it would look better if thet sanded down the jowls, which real great whites do have, sans the flaps. Big mistake. Shark looked fake in most scenes, and they didn't keep the model painted well. 2nd shark had a very dull gray and its underbelly was was light gray/ faded white. 3rd shark had its moments but the different models didn't match up. The one that attacked the tunnels looks hard as a rock, the one with the protruding upper gums looked.. flat. It hardly looked like 5 ton animal. Again, the crew failed to give the models a proper paint job, except for the nearly non-moving model that breaks the window at the end of the movie. Good lord, where do I begin with the 4th shark? It lacks the jowls and has an exaggerated mouth. It has that not so dark gray that the 2 previous sharks had and, where it should be white, is actually tan/pink. The only time it looks real is when he slams through the side of the ship trying to get Michael.

The fact that a human could fit inside that and technically be devoured as if it was a real shark is so scary lol

They should’ve made a director’s cut version of this movie with all the deleted scenes which would have helped the movie at least a little bit like extended battles, more “extra character backstories like in NYC, and maybe even more kaiju like Gamera and/or Bagan. Or maybe an edited intro (slightly due to it looking like it’s “over”)

Bruce looks awesome. Sharks became one of my favorite animals because of his movie series.

For 1974 the movement looks really good. Very smooth and fluid. I was impressed. They could never get the tail to work they way they wanted it just wasn't strong enough but the head and jaw movement looked really good.

This is a rocken Godzilla theme song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😎

40 years on Bruce looks more realistic than CGI effect and there is something about the animatronic, it looks evil and mad and still as scary as ever!

I love how Bruce is a actual character that has his own unique look & identity compared to other great white sharks ❤️ he honestly doesn't look animatronic to me , he just looks like his own one of a kind subspecies of GWS & ive seen millions of GWS footage & they all move they're mouth like that like chomp chomp chomp!!!! This is a perfect thing to make a animatronic because these types of sharks are very easy to make seem very realistic without much effort especially they're movement, other than the way they move they're tail , u really don't don't have to do much , these things actually act like this in real life👍
