I'm always jarred out of how good this scene is by Kaffee calling Jessup a "son of a bitch." In real life, that wouldn't happen: even with Jessup disgraced and under arrest, there would be serious consequences for Kaffee.

It can also be called "hazing". the story is loosely based on the true story of a marine that was almost killed but they stopped when he turned blue and was spitting up blood. He recovered and years later was murdered with gambling debts etc.

Impresses to see how well Tom Cruise fares in front of Jack Nicholson in this movie. I'm far from saying that TC is an average actor, on the contrary, what I mean here is that he is opposite one of the greatest actors in movie history, and still, when you see this scene you kind of have the feeling that the former steals the show, and this, taking into consideration the caliber of JN as an actor is definitely testament to TC great skills and talent as an actor.
