It's fascinating to see firsthand the train of thought when someone believes so strongly in something that when data proves otherwise, their brain breaks and they go to conspiracy theories to keep that belief alive. Is it a control thing? I see it when people get upsetting news about a candidate or sports team losing. Or, similarly, when the order of the world is upset by 9/11 of Covid, or global warming (even flat-earthers, but that's pretty fringe) ...something out of our control, folks will deny it, I guess to maintain some illusion of control and rightness? It seems to fit with him comparing the election to a movie or video game, as if it's a foregone conclusion that his hero MUST win at some point. And look, it sorta breaks my brain that Trump gets a significant portion of voters, but I don't jump to this sort of thinking. It's sad, scary and fascinating to see the process.

If you want to know the future, just predict the opposite of Dave Rubin.

As I understand the story.. Rubin was with the Young Turks, and also had the ambition to do stand up. One day he decided to switch sides, declaring himself a classical liberal, thence conservative, thence libertarian. Along the way he took Koch money and became very rich. Now he's mocked. He's incoherent. He has only the vaguest notions of political realities, of history, of economics. What puzzles me is - what did he ever bring to either side? He has regular features and nice hair, true. But look at his eyes - they're dead. His voice is flat. He is unintelligent. He has made a career in politics, but he never seems to learn anything. He doesn't know how anything works. He has no insight. Stand up? He has no charisma. I can understand why he joined the grifting right media circus - he wanted a big bank account and he wanted to live in a big house. But what is he FOR? What has he ever brought to anyone or anything?
