Ruby Peters with Dusty Brooks and The Four Tones - Bag-Pipe Boogie
This is a jaw-dropper for sure. What is amazing to me is that there are at least two other songs with the same title but different composers.
Enjoy!

This unlabeled disc features a program from the Continental Broadcasting Corporation in Los Angeles, three songs by the Jack... Duberville? Jujuerbeale? I have no idea what the name is, but the orchestra plays three songs. I'd say that this is some pretty sub-par music on display. The songs are Singing In the Bathtub, If I Had a Talking Picture of You, and Tiptoe Through the Tulips. There is an...

Fine soul from 1969, but take a look - this record is WHUPPED. Five giant deliberate scratches tangential to the grooves, tons of wear, it might have been juked and then scratched to avoid resale. But it sounds fine, and I attribute that to two things - a 1.0 stylus, and a Waxwing preamp that is summing the channels to mono and constantly selecting which groove wall has the least noise. I've ha...

This reminds me of a story told by the late jazz bagpipe player Rufus Harley (who was of African American heritage). On several occasions, when a neighbor called the police to complain about Harley's practicing in his home, he would quickly put away his bagpipes and feign ignorance, asking the officers, "Do I look like I'm Irish or Scottish to you?"

The leader is Jacques Jou-Jerville, who appeared in a few early 1930s French-themed Hollywood films (one with Maurice Chevalier, and another with Adolphe Menjou and Claudette Colbert). He perhaps led an all-string ensemble in a posh Hollywood hotel dining room!! The unidentified announcer may be the vocalist on "If I had a Talking Picture of You." Obviously this is a low budget production!

Thank you! Another RUclips user has posted dozens of these Coconut Grove transcriptions, but your transfers are cleaner and bring out more bass. By the way, some stations banned the lyrics of "Love for Sale," which is probably why Arnheim chose not to include them here.

This was undoubtedly a low-budget studio recording from the very early 1930s. (Notice the repeat playing, toward the beginning, of a 78 of "Always in All Ways," dubbed in to sound like the nightclub orchestra!) The piano solo of "Whispering" is played in the Lee Sims style, but he did not record it -- so what we hear may actually have been played by one of the performers in the studio...maybe even a staff musician. The performers may have worked directly from typed scripts, resulting in mispronunciations of "lingerie," "broccoli," etc. Benny Light and Mark Cook broadcast from California's KMPC as early as 1930, so this is probably a California recording. Discs of this type were meant for local distribution, and would have had a local sponsor, and were popular fill-ins for non-network entertainment.

Benny's piano playing sounds like Ben Light, who played on some party records in 1936 before having a fairly successful career as an instrumental soloist in the 1940s. (I don't believe Ben sang on any of those).

Recorded in November 1950. "Hadacol" was a patent medicine introduced by Dudley LeBlanc in 1943 that became VERY popular in the early 1950's. It offered a lot of vitamins and minerals.......and a high alcohol content {12%}. No matter what it claimed it could do for you, if you used it often enough, you felt *good* about anything!
