Faith at their fingertips!
Fatima receives our braille materials in the Diocese of San Diego. She registered with us this year after connecting with us on Facebook. In this video, she explains how the braille materials she has received from us has transformed her faith life.
This #GivingTuesday we are hoping to raise $15,000 to transcribe the New American Bible in UEB (Unified English braille). We hope to raise enough money to make the Word of God available to braille readers throughout the English speaking world. Did you know...the Bible in braille amounts to over 4,400 pages! Braille takes up a lot more space that regular print, and it also much more expensive (approximately $3/page). Your gift will help us trans...

Glad to see this video. Braille literacy is so important for our young people. I could not function to the extent that I do as a priest without braille.
Thanks be to God for you XSB for the great work you've are doing for us, the blind! Braille literacy is power! May Holy God continue to bless this apostolate!

As soon as I heard the robot voice - you lost me. Bye.
Thanks for the feedback. We're always looking for volunteer readers so if you know anyone interested, get in touch.
I'm blind and I have this amazing production, as well as a bunch from Focus on the Family Radio Theatre, Heirloom Audio, and Lamplighter Theatre's London-recorded productions, and all are amazing. Audio drama is so underappreciated, I wish more would listen to these amazing productions. My favorute AIR productions are this one and the Legends of Robyn Hood.

Another great segment Skylar. (Dr Skylar Covich PHD UCSB) . Skylar you are helping people all over the world with your dedication and focus to help others educate themselves and learn independence. When you started to learn Braille as a 5 year old and during your education you were able to become a master of Braille. I remember when you won an award for the Braille Readers are Leaders testing competition. The braille display on your first computer accelerated your learning. Your life was guided by braille books, labels, other braille markers. As you took courses at Perkins, in Watertown Mass, the lighthouse in New York, and with your special Braille teachers, you learned to excel at education testing. I remember the time when a college test score template was not used properly and you thought you had the lowest score in your school on the college entrance program. Then we found, that you had one of the highest scores in California/USA. What a day that was. Braille was your guiding path to your earning a PHD. As your father, I watched you teach others, you become a leader and now you work for one of the greatest organizations, The braille Institute of America which was of service to you when you were in college at UCSB. I would say to others and parents of young children, follow the road which helped to made Skylar a successful professor, technical expert, husband and Father. Learn Braille, help others to learn Braille and find the organizations such as the Xavier Society for the Blind, the Lighthouse, the Braille Institute and other organizations supporting the vital learning of Braille. Blessings to all who watch this video and read these comments. Blessings to all of the teachers, Family members and friends who helped Skylar through his entire education. There is more help today than ever, Skylar and the people in these amazing organizations who have entrusted Skylar to be on their boards of leadership. Skylar is a testament to the importance of Braille and he will help you understand how important braille will be to your life. Frank Covich Jan 2024 Father of Skylar

Greetings, I am Frank Covich living in Northern California. This broadcast was done perfectly. Clear filming, great sound, allowed me to see the service and my son who came to New York last night from California to be at the service. God bless the work that Xavier does for so many and now with my son the wisdom he will bring to the society. Thank you again for making this so easy to view. Dec 13, 2023

Thank you, it was a beautiful celebration!
this is nice. God bless! I enjoy these computer voices. thank you so much for these experiments. I'm looking forward to fully listening to some of these audio books in computer voices
I like this experimental voice! it sounds good for me. everything is perfect so far: speed, pitch and all. I will attempt to listen to the whole book as well. please try male voices as well; if available?
Thanks Robert. We have actually used male voices check out "In Sinu Jesu" ruclips.net/video/8Ar-3CPTSoI/видео.html
I am glad that you liked the voice. We did this with a female voice because the author is female. If you would like to listen to the book with a male voice, please request it through to office.
That saying "When the student is ready the teacher will appear" .. I've had this book for years, and I could never seem to get beyond a couple of chapters. Then a few months ago i began reading it in a way of Lectio Divina. it has made all the difference in the world. I''ve been suffering during a "dark night of the soul" for the past couple of weeks, and while I have known WHY .. naturally a person wants to move past it as soon as possible. Invitation to Love has been such an inspiring companion for the journey! While the suffering is not yet past, there is so much more sense of clarity and trusting that all shall be well, and this book has been a very present gift in that process!
It's been very popular with our patrons in braille and audio!
I like the voice, but there seems to be a brightness to it that could be decreased just a bit.
Thanks Christy! Appreciate your feedback.
sounds like a great book. I will be ordering it. thank you!
Do you have a method for visually impaired individuals, such as myself, to listen to an audible copy of this entire book for school?
Hi Peter, yes we have this book on cartridge, it will play in the talking brook machines provided by the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled. This book and all of our materials are provided free of charge from our library. If you'd like to request a copy please call 212-473-7800 or email info@xaviersocietyfortheblind.org

This was such a wonderful celebration, especially the reception after the mass, where we networked and discussed lots of blindness related issues. So thankful we could gather as community.
