A great video, alot of fun, I really liked the second dress on you both. I bought the osborn pattern as I love dungarees, by like you I had real trouble with size and fit. I wish there had been a waist point marked on the pattern. I made a toile as I had concerns, despite the fact I am 5ft 6, so not petite, the bodice as far too long, I could not reach the pockets, the crotch way way too low, not something I usually have trouble with, it was way too big all over and fell off my shoulders. I found it hard to alter, but took 5 cm length out of the bodice and back, and inch off each side and moved where the straps attached. I made it up and its still too big, I didn't take enough out of the bodice and back length and the crotch is still too low. I added 3inches to leg length to make it full length but that was not enough. It was a fail for me, has put me off trying any other sew different patterns.

I was worried there, no need to curb any sort of fabric buying, collecting, and you looked dead serious about your existing stash before the haul. Love you both, you’re only human, mine just came in yesterday, my fix. Sigh. It IS OK.

I have 63 dressmaking fabrics, plus 7 pieces of rib knit for cuffing and waistbands. I have reduced my stash this year by cutting and sewing it! I haven't destashed any fabric. I have a spreadsheet of all my fabric, so I know what I have. There are a couple I am not fond of, they were subscription box fabrics that just aren't my colour. I cancelled my subscription box, it's not my thing, I soon learned that. I have recently paired fabrics with patterns, I just need to get cutting and sewing :-) I have four fabric that I purchased almost 3 years ago and seven that I have owned for 3 years and 15 from 2023. Oops!

Great ideas-I never have much success in selling anything-but what I do is this: I donate to "Goodwill Industries", they will take fabric and either sell it in their charity store, or recycle it responsibly!! :+)

Not just alcohol or cigarettes. If you bought concert tickets or sports tickets, they cost considerably more, and for those who don't travel, a flight, or a cruise also cost considerably more. It's all perspective and what you enjoy as well as what you can afford.

Absolutely love the green animal print fur Christine! 😍 You’ve given me the push to go back through my stash and be ruthless about what I will actually wear 🤨 It’s not long since I’ve gone through my stash and sorted it by fabric types but I need to be brutally honest with myself 😂💞

What a fun video! I also like shopping my stash. I tend to have a very good idea of the sorts of fabrics I will wear, so nowadays I make fewer mistakes. I also have one golden rule when I buy new fabric - I have to absolutely love it - not just something that is useful or I can see what I might make - it has to be absolute love. This stands me in good stead as if it doesn't pass this test, it doesn't go into the basket.

I have been machine embroidering for more than 20 years and I never embroider on a piece of fabric I have cut to the pattern. I always cut it with a large margin, so I can trim it down later. Embroidery can pull in the fabric, so you were wise to embroider your design as you did. Love the vlog, thank you.

Good visual explanation why most of us sew! We’re a nice variety of human shapes. My mom was tall and lean and I am short and busty. Thanks for the inspiration to get the embroidery machine back out.

Ladies, what a week you've had! The fabrics and the sewing has been lovely. But I have to be honest and say I am looking forward to the day, pattern designers stop trying to drown us in these mega oversized, fabric hungry, garments. I know it's personal taste, but I refuse to buy any more patterns where I basically have to re-draft the entire thing just to get it to fit. Your vlog, though, has been brilliant and I so appreciate the honesty with which you both have taken us through your journey. Thank you so much!
